2025 Philadelphia Eagles - ‘25 Eagles, ‘85 Bears, ‘00 Ravens, in that order. (22 Viewers)

Jurgens issued practice today with a concussion. If he were limited, he would have a better chance to play, but this likely means he won’t clear protocol in time to play this week.
That sucks

Who?

Eagles.really.good.center? Wont matter vs a lesser team like you guys though

The Eagles arent even the best franchise in their own state. Steelers, Nittany Lions, Abington Galloping Ghosts........... Eagirls.
stinky bait....like so stinky mods SHOULD call out this kind of post

I haven’t said anything inflammatory or rude. I haven’t made fun of a poster. Your guys are giving right back and Im taking it in stride.

I’m an extremely long time poster ribbing another group of extremely long time posters during “Dallas Week”. It isnt nefarious.

Cmon dude, really?

ETA - Im having a absolutely brutal week IRL so this really is bothering me more than it should. You got a good team, winning the division, appear to be improving but you cant take a little smack talk a few days before the game. Way to kill the vibe man.

Good luck this week and see the rest of you in the game thread.
You good man. Love ya

Just got my Eagles playoff ticket email.

Cowboys fans, playoffs are the games good teams play after the regular season ends. Like the turkey, your season will be cooked by Thanksgiving.

Pretty sure you still have fewer playoff wins than the lowly Cowboys despite being in the league longer.

No doubt. You can always pop in your VHS tapes and relive those 90s Cowboys teams. That must feel like 30 years ago though.

I was as 20. The Cowboys were so good that I was literally telling people how bored I was of them winning and that I missed it when we were the plucky up-and-coming team of 1989.

I got my wish. Every year.

LOL sounds exactly like a Cowboys fan!

I do wish a Cowboys fan would come in here to actually talk about the game, that might be cool

You guys have the upper hand at the moment, but it’s still a divisional team against a divisional rival.

Cowboys got a lot of players back on defense last week and the 2 new additions. There should be some big improvement on that side of the ball.

As far as Micah Parson goes – I know it’s in your best interest to try and frame the narrative that it was awful to let him go, but nobody wants that dude in Dallas. Period. This is coming from one of his biggest fans. He is selfish on and off the field. A locker room distraction.

I dare say it but DJax was right about him.

As far as this particular game goes….

Your offense is hot garbage when you consider the embarrassment of riches you trot out there. Your quarterback plays like it’s 1927 but is fortunate his receivers play in this eras ruleset.

Your defense is still suspect. Your secondary is still a liability. Rod Woodson and Ray Lewis aren’t walking through that door.

You guys play to your competition this year so it should be close. Cowboys aren’t good but neither were the Giants when they beat you.

Cowboys have nothing to lose.
I agree with most of this other than the bolded. The additions of the trade of Jaelan Phillips - who already knows this very complicated defense AND getting Nolan Smith back at the same time have been season changing alterations. The Birds have really got no pass rush from the edges for much of this year, hence making the secondary appear more suspect than it actually is.

But I will acknowledge the gains you guys have made too, obviously adding Williams and getting Overshown back help the defense. Just unsure how much it will help (or really matter lol against our offense) but I do have hopes for success against it. I just don't see a pass rusher besides Williams that really I feel I should worry about.

Quinyon Mitchell is easily a top 10 CB in the league right now, just unsure how high high he is up there, I'd like to believe top 5 going off of some of the metrics I have read about him

Right now he is allowing 41.9% completion % on his targets, and if I recall, Pickens didn't do much game 1.

But I digress Like I said, 2 additions to both teams (although Nolan did play week 1, but Carter did not so even stevens) have definitely made the defenses of the past 2 weeks for both of us look different than it did for the first say 6-8 weeks, I think we can agree on that.

Should be a fun matchup and as and Eagles fan we have 3 road matchups left on the schedule against top level passing attacks and this is the 1st stop.

I think we rattle Dak and get in his face a lot and force turnovers, but maybe thats just me being biased.

The offense? I think we go run heavy and actually have success doing it

Passing game will not be great volume, but efficient

It actually started turning around when Nakobe Dean came back. He only played 6 special teams snaps in the week 6 loss to NY. Then played 45% of the defensive snaps in week 7 vs. Minnesota and has slowly been working his way up to around 70% of the snaps. His insertion into the lineup has caused the other teams rushing numbers to drop dramatically. Then adding Smith and Phillips is just icing on the cake.

Just need to find Adoree Jackson.

Of course you will be run heavy. Hurts is your “quarterback”. ;)

Dean was a wrecking ball in the Detroit game. (I think that was the game- I haven’t watched very much live football this season)

I listen to a podcast with Nate Newton - He gets hype for OL and DL players, especially DTs. He raves about Nolan Smith.

Reminds me- Nate always brings up Jerome Brown. You guys have always had good DTs. Jerome, Cox and now Smith. I’m sure there’s a few others along that timeline.

He was a good in both the Green Bay and Detroit games. Against Green Bay he caused Love to fumble when they were in scoring position. Against Detroit, he totally obliterated Montgomery causing him to knock down Goff for a sack. He's a true middle LB, which Campbell isn't, he was playing out of position. Campbell is more of a Zach Baun OLB type.

I just watched a very thorough play breakdown of the 49ers offense from week11.
And man, as I was watching, I couldn't help but think if Shanahan had Hurts, Barkley, AJB, Smith, Goedert what is the potential?

Just absolutely fascinating diving into some of the NFL's best offensive minds. Really hope you guys find a real OC in the offseason.
Shanahan is such an overrated coach. Just like dad he’s rode the coattails of talent on his rosters. Kyle hasn’t won a dam thing. Maybe he’s good at plat designs but the Shanahan family is really overrated overall when talking NFL coaches.

Nick Sirianni is a better head coach than Kyle Shanahan.
This I can agree with. The Shanahan’s are super overrated.

Funny you mention this. Todd McShay show was talking about James Franklin and Todd has some good sources there. He went with ESPN to PSU when James was first fired and saw a lot of leadership red flags etc. didn’t say exactly but sounded like Franklin may have covered some stuff up as well involving certain things. Long story short I talked to a really good friend of mine who’s PSU alumni and his roommate from them is a personal trainer who helps out a lot of the OSU athletes. Heard a lot of stories from people who played with or knew Parsons and basically said the same thing. Quite a few said Franklin let Parsons Yeter Gross-Matos become huge bullies and were never disciplined for anything.

Based on everything I’ve seen in his playing days yeah he hasn’t matured one bit.

I think defense can contain Dallas. Hopefully Dallas' defense ddnt improve too much with Williams and Over shown added in. Our offense is going to need to put up points this week. They've shown they're capable when needed.
Agree here we will need to put up points.

I think Dak and Goff play similar games and I think Vic knows what to cook up to limit what Dallas likes to do.

First meeting to date is Dak’s

Lowest yards 188- tied
1 of 2 games with no TD passes
Lowest YPA
2nd lowest passer rating
3rd lowest completion %

And that is famously without Jalen Carter, and of course the new guy Jaelan Phillips, who obviously already knows this system.

I think we sack them a lot this game and/or Dak throws a few hurried ones that get picked off.

The offense is going to have to score points though one way or another, but I’m extremely excited for this test of this defense knowing what Dallas can do and knowing what this new refined defense looks capable of - shutting down elite offenses.

I’m just greedy and I want the sacks and turnovers to come too.

Couldn’t be a better week for that.

Almost forgot carter didnt play

And Nakobe, and Phillips. Very different defense this time around. This is a huge test for them honestly. Dallas sucks! but their offense is legit.

The Lions offense is legit too. Haven't dug into this game yet, but I'm leaning towards laying the points with the over.

Based on what I saw last night, Buffalo doesn’t appear to be much of a threat to beat Philly in a few weeks either. Houston D seems to be similar to Philly and they just destroyed that Bills offense.

Man that is a nice comparison but IMO Houston is the real deal bonafide true #1 defense in the league to me and a lot of metrics back it up. Plus they actually get to the QB with sacks. Hunter and Anderson have 21.5 combined. The Eagles defense total has 21. We are starting to look a lot better with the aforementioned guys added/back from injury, so we will see.

But Houston is just in their own tier right now to do what they did last night after Allen had 6 touchdowns to hold him to zero....

Huge difference between being at home and in Buffalo in late December.
But wouldn't late December conditions in Buffalo favor the great defense?

Based on what I saw last night, Buffalo doesn’t appear to be much of a threat to beat Philly in a few weeks either. Houston D seems to be similar to Philly and they just destroyed that Bills offense.

It's not just Buffalo in December. A lot of times, teams who need the win more, just have that extra juice. If Philly runs the table straight to Buffalo and the Rams lose a game between now and then (they have TB, DET and @SEA), Philly will have the #1 seed all but locked up. At that point, you get the DNPs for players with minor injuries who "could have played if it was the playoffs" designation.
This weeks game against Dallas is the only one I have concern about losing between now and then. Mostly because it's a divisional game, we always seem to split with Dallas and Dak is really good at home in his career.

But Houston is just in their own tier right now to do what they did last night after Allen had 6 touchdowns to hold him to zero....

yeah they are capable of beating any playoff team but odds are low they can string multiple wins together with that offense. would not want to see them round 1 of the playoffs for sure though

Still got my tapes from the 70s too

It also favors cook and Allen running ability. It may not effect us as much being a northeast team like say a team from south or west coast but there’s still an effect

When the Eagles win the TO battle they are 40-2. Anyone wondering why Jalen doesn't take chances....this is why. He/Sirianni have figured out that with this team, the talent they have, etc. the secret to their success is great RZ defense, be good in the RZ, win the turnover battle. Do that and you basically never lose.

"Hey Jalen you guys have a *checks notes* - 91.666% chance to win games when you win the turnover battle!

Why don't you throw more risky passes tho?"

this is true. its always why i have always thought you dont see the more aggressive offense unless someone really threatens them. all these games we are winning from the start. look at any game where they go down by a score or 2. totally different offense. not saying its right, but its what they do. and it works

Yep, they’re essentially hiding the OC. Use your strengths (defense and winning the TO battle) and you’ll most likely win.

I give Hurts a lot of grief, but he aint stupid.

Not sure its sustainable in the playoffs but regular season this is true.

Their offense was ho hum to start the Detroit game. punt, FG, punt in the first quarter, punt, punt FG the second quarter. Then Detroit ties it up with a TD and what happens? 5 minute, 10 play, 65 yard drive ending with a TD to close out the half. lol.
