2025 Philadelphia Eagles - Lane Johnson has entered the late-stage Jason Peters phase: great when out there, but can’t stay out there a full season. (115 Viewers)

I was fully confident we beat GB last week. Had no hesitation.

Detroit I think we have trouble with. I think they have weapons that can exploit our weaknesses on defense. They also have a strong D line. If we don't pass the ball and commit to it, they will cause problems for our offense.

I'm thinking this one is a loss at first analysis. Would love to be wrong but I think ebb and flow of a season we end up on the wrong side of this one.

So AJ Brow is just gonna stir **** up the entire season eh

:lmao: :popcorn::huh:
He kind of has a point.
I mean he does, just like most things in life, its just not good to continuously air dirty laundry in public.

To each their own though haha, if they want to hear the media talk about what AJ is saying ROS, tis what it is
I'm coming around to the conclusion that AJB will be traded as soon as it is financially feasible to do so.

Absolutely. In the meantime, can we use him to win another Super Bowl?

I’m sorry but these latest comments are really bad. Even if he believes it, publicly commenting that your own offense is a “**** show” is pretty insane. Especially when the team overall is playing well and winning. Given what we know about Hurts (I.e. winning is all that matters), how could he possibly continue to gel with Brown. But maybe if winning is everything, he can get past this gigantic distraction that Brown has become. Should be interesting how this week shakes out as I’m guessing they’ll probably need a good game out of him.

If the OC wasn’t giving Barkley the ball after how well he did a year ago, and started complaining about it, would we be wanting him traded because we didn’t like reading about it or hearing it on the radio?

When the masses say we need to get AJ the ball, it’s fine.

When he says it or is pissed about it—trade him.

We are a strange, strange bunch.

I don't want him traded but I think the Eagles will trade him and I think AJ wants to be traded.

I think he just wants the ball. Looking at WR’s, of his caliber, I can’t see any of them being OK with being 61st in receptions, 50th in yards and 45th in TD’s in week 11.

A new OC remedies all this.

If the Eagles beat the Lions this week and the offense does just enough to win the game but looks terrible doing it, then I won't say another word about how bad the offense looks under Patullo. I'll still call for his firing in the offseason, but I won't say a word until after the Super Bowl.
I think comparing his offense to what Johnson did in 2023 is fair. When we watched the games you could see how poorly executed plays were. We were 8-1 or 9-1 and you could see how much was Jalen improvising and gaining 10-20 yards. When you watch the games you know it’s not sustainable and this has a similar feel. It’s not exactly the same though. Hurts was very bad with turnover IIRC and this year he’s at the opposite end of the spectrum. Also Vic’s defense is far and away better than anything Desai or Patricia put on the field. Because of those two things alone, we can win ugly games against good opponents. The law of averages will pop up at some point I’m sure. IE, we’ll have a down game on defense or an awesome day on offense but we’re entering week 11. At some point we’ll have to settle in to this is who we are.

The same question I asked way back when we went from Steichen to Johnson I’ll ask now after going from Moore to Patullo:

If we had the same OC last year, just how good would the offense be this year? The talent, on offense, over the last few years is the best we have ever seen here from top to bottom. I think most would agree with that if not everyone. I believe if we had Moore or a Moore type we’d be top 3-5 in every major offensive category. It just sucks we didn’t have a chance to get that guy this year. If we exit earlier than the SB this year we will have a chance to get an adequate replacement. It would be nice to get a Fangio type for the offense who just wants to be an OC. That’s why a Daboll type appeals to me. He clearly could not handle the daily rigor of being an NFL HC.

Sorry for the long post lol
Man I agree with everything here. I'll add in the fact or just jump on your point about the defense this year - the fact that its the defense that is obviously the better of the 2 units this year, makes it more likely we can win more games/collapse won't happen.

This Lions game though, starting to feel like that 2023 Niners game when they came in and took our soul, 42-19. I don't think that happens this game, but I'm starting to really worry about wtf the offense is going to do.
I feel the same way. Campbell taking on the play calling duties throws a monkey wrench into a lot of planning as well. There’s not a lot of trends from him obviously so that’ll make a great offensive even harder to defend.

I think they can exploit the Lions D on Sunday. Jared Goff is the type of immobile QB that the Eagles usually play well against. The Lions OL is going to have trouble with our interior pressure and that causes Goff to make bad decisions. Right now, I'm leaning Eagles.

They are also a different team away from.their comfy dome

He is being a bad team mate, period.

One group of fans yelling at the tv or calling into WIP to throw it to AJ is not the same thing as AJ REPEATEDLY throwing out public grenades. The most recent one where he said the offense was “a **** show” and he’d recommend trading him if you have him on your fantasy team, is insane.

There is nothing strange about differentiating those two scenarios. One is commonplace fandom the other is a supposed captain of the team weekly airing his dirty laundry and complaints after the team WINS! It’s going to get to the point of being untenable and if it costs the city a Super Bowl hell forever be an antagonist here. And that’s not what he should be.

I disagree. People are acting like this is T.O. level and it’s not. By all accounts he’s a GREAT teammate. Every single writer and player says this about him. He’s just wants the ball more and is vocal about it. That’s how it is with social media nowadays.

If we end up losing a playoff game and his line is another one like Sunday everyone will be understanding and that’s whey we’re heading towards.

Look at what we’re paying him!!

No one is acting like this is TO level. That was an Extinction Level Event. There’s many tick marks along the ruler with Great teammate on one side and TO ELE on the other. This is somewhere in the middle, but it’s trending in the wrong direction.

And I disagree with the great teammate label. Every time he does this stupid **** EVERYONE has to answer questions about it. It’s a distraction and it is completely unnecessary and it’s putting his teammates and coaches in an awkward situation when they be focusing on Detroit.

I agree that it’s a burden when being asked questions. But how much of a burden? I think things like this annoy fans more than anything else.

You let us lose a couple games and his usage stays like this and the narrative will change completely. Just watch.

And when he said to cut him in fantasy I agree. I’ve had him for years and he’s 61st in receptions, 50th in yards and 45th in TD’s. If his name was AJ Smith I would cut him lol

Re: Adoree Jackson, it’s not a coincidence he looked better in GB. They schemed up the D to minimize his (bad) impact. They mostly played Mitchell in man on his side, and then cover 2 zone on Jackson’s side so he always had safety help.

DET will likely adjust to that after seeing that tape, with things like high-low routes to pull that safety help away. But Vic might already be cooking up another way to scheme around having a weak CB2 for this game.

Good news from today’s estimated injury report: everyone participated and only 4 players were listed as Limited

Bad news is all 4 are from our OLine: Lane Johnson, Cam Jurgens, Landon Dickerson, and Tyler Steen.

Guess it’s good Lane and Cam are limited, vs DNP.

I understand AJ has a point. But, SHUT THE HELL UP, deal with what’s happening and push to win another championship. Then vent your spleen and ask for a trade in the offseason.

He’s being a baby. I’m saying ‘baby’ because I don’t want a timeout.

The Lions are going to put a beating on the Eagles this SNF.
Eagles can't keep up with the Lions offense.
Eagles opened as 2.5 point home favorites.

It’s possible the entire starting Oline is back this week. But, 4 of 5 Olinemen were limited in practice.

I see either a tight game, with both teams scoring in the 20s, or a Detroit boatrace. I don’t think Philly has it in them, yet, to blow the doors off this DET team.

Fantasy-wise, I think this is a big Jamo game. ARSB gets checked by Q, Jamo has several big plays that Mukuba gives up.

Campbell is calling the plays now. Gonna run the score up to 50.
Could be. I know DC would run up the score, which I have zero problem with. But, as explosive as DETs Offense is- I don’t see anybody putting 50 on this Defense.
I think he’s legit trying to troll you. The Lions have put up 50 once all year and they’ve squared off against some pretty bad defenses. Now they’re all of a sudden going to put up 50 against a very good defense on the road? Something smells funny to me. Something like a troll.

He’s probably still angry that Riley Moss is STILL a liability. 😜

No I am not trying to troll. I did over exaggerate on the Det scoring prop. So I'll address that. Phi defense is decent. But I think Det still gets 27.
Patullo is way over his head. Nobody is talking about the Det defense. He's going to screw up the play calling with that vanilla scheme.

Det 27
Phi 20

Yeah, that’s a pretty chalk take. O/U I’ve seen been between 46.5 to 49.5.

I can def see DET scoring 27- their Offense is as loaded with talent, and their playcalling looked like they had an identity last week. Big question mark- how does that translate long term? Is DC’s involvement gonna keep them “all gas, no brakes?” or is he gonna start to hinder the smooth operation and flow?

The other big factor is the renewed Dline for the Birds. If they can pressure Goff with limited blitzes, they can make him turtle up, and cover up the glaring deficiencies in the secondary.

Philly’s Offense? I won’t even speculate. I hope the AJ shenanigans and all the media flak about that ugly performance Monday will light a fire under them. But as it stands, Patullo/Siriani look like a game of Madden set to “random play generator”. No identity, whatsoever.

DET has a bunch if injuries in D, though (again and still) Hutch will play, but how bad is the elbow? And what’s he gonna do against a Philly Oline that’s maybe getting healthier?

Their secondary is thin, too. Arnold missing will hurt. Kerby missing will hurt even more. If DET ooens a lead early, the training wheels come off the Eagles’ Offense, and their secondary can be had.

My gut feeling is that the Eagles lose, but in a close game. If the Eagles win, I think it’ll be another ugly performance where the Defense holds Det under 20.

Looking at their losses, it pretty obvious, stop the run and you beat the Lions.

IMO Patullo was the best man for the job. He had been part of the offensive game planning for 4 years up to getting the OC job. It would look p bad if they didn’t promote him with no one of Kellen Moore’s quality out there. I think that is something are taking for granted as well. Expecting Patullo to be as good as Moore is a tough ask imo.

He definitely needs to do better though. There is no reason for AJ to not get designed plays called for him. Call a screen pass for him once in a while.

Agree where are the slants that always work?
And then there’s this:

A.J. Brown has run only 14 crossing routes this season, via TruMedia.

137 pass-catchers in the NFL have run more crossing routes than him.

A.J. Brown -- 2025 season

Receptions per target -- 57.4% (career-low)
Receptions per route run -- 12.3% (career-low)
EPA per target -- 0.25 (career-low)
Yards per catch -- 13.2 (career-low)
YAC per reception -- 3.2 (career-low)
YAC% -- 24.5% (career-low)
Yards per route run -- 1.61 (career-low)
Yards per target -- 7.56 (career-low)
First downs/TDs per target -- 29.6% (career-low)
Air yards conversion rate -- 63.2% (career-low)
Explosive plays per target -- 14.8% (career-low)
Success rate -- 46.3% (career-low)
Snaps in slot -- 11.2% (lowest since rookie year)

Eagles through 10 weeks during the Nick Sirianni era:

2021: 4-6, +26 point differential
2022: 8-1, +79
2023: 8-1, +57
2024: 7-2, +72
2025: 7-2, +26

To the point about the offense through 10 weeks: The Eagles have their fewest points per drive, yards per play, offensive EPA, and 20+ yards plays during the Sirianni era.

They're best in one key area: turnovers, with only 4 this season.

"At what point are we gonna pick up our slack... Week after week, we're not doing our part on offense.. You can't be happy just getting a W, you can't do that. Not in this league. You gotta continue to get better. We have to help the defense."

Quinyon Mitchell is allowing the 2nd lowest completion % among all CBs.

He's doing this while being the 2nd most targeted CB in the NFL (55)
He's just so good already its kind of crazy the talent we still have on this roster that is also STILL improving as well
I never thought I’d live long enough to see the defense be great again lol. I think they’re also the second youngest unit in the league!

It literally makes no sense. How can you be a professional coach and not throw one slant to a stud WR that takes slants 60 yards.

Yeah, he’s been amazing. If anybody ever watches Shane Haff and Johnny Page break down film, Johnny did a piece on just how fantastic Q played against Green Bay.

He was singled up/no help and locked down a complete quarter of the field with the nastiest, stickiest coverage imaginable. He’s a Quiet Assassin.

I also am falling in man-crush with Nakobe again. Such a shame he’s had such bad luck with injury, because I can’t see them keeping him after this season. But, he’s playing lights out.

If its a low scoing game, we win; if its a high scoring game we lose. I think its as simple as that. We need our defense to step up and deal with Jamo and Gibbs specifically. Washington had no answers for either of them and it was a bloodbath. If we can stop the run and get to Goff a couple of times, I think we can get a tough win. This is a Jalen Carter game.

Of course we need to score points as well. 80% of our Oline isn't practicing, so thats potentially a disaster.

My gut tells me that we continue to struggle offensively, mainly because we have continued to struggle offensively. The Oline concerns make it worse. At this point in the week I am predicting a loss. If we get some positive news about Lane, Dickerson, Cam and Steen, I might revise my prediction but for now I'd guess...

Lions win 27-17

Anything Detroit did last week is irrelevant . . . Washington stinks.

I'm seeing a common theme with Detroit. When the other teams defensive line plays well, the Lions have trouble. Especially, the interior defensive line, because Goff doesn't handle pressure in his face well. The more I look at this game, the more I like Philly.

This is specifically why I said its a Jalen Carter game.

And I disagree with the other point. They gave those two guys 26 touches that turned into 300 yards and 28 points. Having an answer for Jamo in the middle and being able to bottle up Gibbs is a tall task, but one that needs to be at the forefront of their minds.

Bill Belichick famously stole Vic Fangio's scheme and techniques the year the Patriots beat the Goff-led Rams in the most boring Super Bowl I ever watched, to a 3 point output.

He used a lot of 6 man fronts to specifically limit the outside runs. I wonder if that is something Vic has cooked up for this game?

Gotta show them something they don't see often, + as mentioned, Jalen Carter/Jordan Davis/Moro Ojomo need to have a game up the middle.

I have confidence in Vic and the defense to get the job done, thinking Goff in the NFC title game, or Goff in that Rams/Pats Super Bowl.

Not the guy that can toss 400/4 in this offense. I don't see that guy showing up this week.

Williamson has been a relative non-factor for Detroit almost the entire season. Detroit didn't throw him the ball until the second half last week when the game was already out of hand, the sort of force fed him probably in hopes of getting him going. IMO, Philly, needs to key on the run and get pressure up the middle and they'll be fine. Get out to an early lead so the Lions become more pass heavy.

Obvious that this game will have significant 1-seed implications for both teams, but still useful to see it quantified:
  • Detroit win gives them a 20% chance to get it, but a loss means they drop to only a 2% chance.

  • Philly win moves them up to 50% and a loss drops it to 19%.

If the Eagles win this one, it's hard to see another loss until maybe, Buffalo in December. The way the league scheduled the NFC East this year is stupid. Playing the Giants and Commanders twice in 3 weeks. I said it before the season, putting those two Commander games at the end of the season was dumb because the games could be meaningless by then. Sure looks like I was right.

true but no one could have predicted they would already be totally out of it. i thought they would take a step back, but not like this. talking about the redskins

I'd be calling Daboll's agent today if I was Howie. Bring him on ASAP as a consultant if you have to.
Having a group this good that leads the LEAGUE in 3 and outs is malpractice and that’s putting it kindly.
Somehow this got worse:

“Eagles are still going 3 & out more often than any offense in the NFL since 2014”

Meaningless to WSH and the NFC East, but very meaningful to securing the 1 seed.
