2025 Philadelphia Eagles - CJGJ shipped off for his regular yearly exile. See you again in 2026, Ceedy Duce! (12 Viewers)

In other news, Underhill reports that Eagles quarterbacks coach “Doug Nussmeier is the favorite to be the Saints offensive coordinator.” This sentiment comes as no surprise since Nussmeier has been considered likely to follow Moore to New Orleans for a promotion. With Nussmeier being the favorite for OC and Brandon Staley reportedly the favorite for defensive coordinator, the Eagles might be able to retain Jemal Singleton and Christian Parker.

I'm surprisingly OK with KM and Doug leaving. I think this OC job should be very attractive for outside/up and coming guys, and I think its a good thing to get Nick out of his comfort zone.

Sure they wont he SB, but Howie will IMO be wary of just giving the OC job to Kevin Patullo.

Would love to see them talk to the Penn State OC.

I kind of agree. Idk what these guys brought to the table, however, I don’t want an inexperienced guy calling plays with this team. Can’t have a new driver in a Ferrari IMO.

So I wonder if the eagles could send a SB ring to Wentz I know this graphic has floated around but basically trading Carson Wentz equaled:

Devontae. smith
AJ Brown
Jalen Carter
Cooper DeJean.

4 key players in the SB. Not sure if anything like this has ever occurred but in all honesty we wouldn’t have won this SB without Wentz

Sort of our version of the Herschel trade

Ever heard of Herschel Walker?
If this is true, it's more like the guy who traded a paper clip for a house. Walker was traded for multiple players + multiple draft picks. That included like three firsts which lead to Emmitt and other studs.

As I recall the Eagles couldn't get a first for Carson so they settled for a conditional first + something. Did they really flip their way to four pro bowl caliber players?

Will probably keep adding to/tweaking this, but I am reverse engineering the trade for Myles Garrett.

So far i got: Bryce Huff, 2026 Jets 3rd rounder, 2026 Eagles 2nd Rounder, some draft capital we gain from trading down from 32 in Green Bay.
It’s a pipe dream they aren’t getting him. Teams like Buffalo have the draft capital and cap space to get it done. Plus if Garrett is the equivalent of losing Williams, Becthom, Baun and or Sweat any number of those 3 I’d rather have those 3 players back. Garret is almost 30 as well.

In all honesty, if you really want to be fair, we wouldn't have won the first one without Wentz. He was a major contributer to the Eagles success prior to his injury. He's got a ring from us already.

Some tough choices for sure. I think corner and OT are the highest priorities
We have an answer for every player other than Baun, especially more so with Nakobe out for a long long time. We can't reasonably go into 2025 Trotter/Burks/New LB

Slay - Ringo/Rodgers waiting
Milton - Ojomo + loaded 2025 DL draft class
Becton - Steen has 2 years left on his rookie deal
Sweat - Hunt/Huff + loaded 2025 DL draft class

Sweat is the only guy I am ruling out 100% from being back though. He gone.
What is Cooper DeJean's future? Can he slide outside when the time comes or is he "just" a nickel corner?

He’s more of a Nickel guy or Safety imho. Not sure he’s a guy you want on the outside. Most scouting reports had him as a future safety which I thought he’d insert for Blankenship

I'd prefer they get Crosby. I feel like he's gettable with the right prodding.

It’s not a terrible trade and honestly if Indy had a more competent owner I think Wentz is still there. He didn’t have a bad season but the GM and Coach pushed for Wentz more so then Isray. If you want an eye opener go look at the HOU package they got for that Deshaun Watson trade. That is such a lo sided trade now.

I would too. Better person and teammate. Like I said prior in the other thread, Garret is being ran out of town by media and fans for his defebse of Watson when he first got hurt and was rightfully ridiculed for it.

Also after watching Crosby on hard knocks his rookie year he was probably my favorite guy in that whole series

Nussmeir Son plays at LSU and their starting QB too. I think he has another year or 2 of eligibility

Eagles assistant head coach and RB coach Jemal Singleton interviewed for the Saints offensive coordinator job, per source. One Eagles official recently described Singleton as “a big part of what we do on offense and a rising star going forward.”

Hard disagree. People were scouting him as a Safety because he’s white and a great tackler. He’s way more talented than just a nickel DB.

Kind of.

They used the 3rd round pick they got from the Colts in 2021 to trade back up in the 1st for Devonta Smith (after trading down from 6 to 12 with Miami and picking up an extra 1st in 2022)

They then used the 1st from the Colts along with their own 1st to make a trade with the Saints to trade down to the saints spot in 22, and picked up an extra 1 in 23 and a 2 in 24.

They traded that Saints 1st in 22 (with a 3rd) for AJ Brown, used the saints 2023 1st to trade up for Jalen Carter, and used the 2024 Saints 2nd to trade up for Cooper DeJean.

Howie was on a 4 year heater!

Saw someone mention that trading Kiko Alonso was the real catalyst. That helped the trade-up for Wentz which led to al the other greatness. So give Kiko two rings!

They also traded Byron maxwell then too to help acquire the draft capital.

The salary cap is going to explode again, and it’s all because of this change in how Nielsen measures ratings.

Starting this year, they are leaning into using data directly from Smart TV manufacturers to measure viewing habits in addition to the traditional at-home panel method.

This means NFL ratings in particular from Sunday Ticket on YouTube are going to be more accurately measured…and that number is going to be way bigger than you think because of just how many Gen-Z and Millennials consume football on streaming services.

More accurate ratings means the league’s next broadcast rights negotiation in 2028/2029 is going to be WAY more expensive…which ultimately means massive jumps in the salary cap.

If I’m a GM, that means next year…or maybe even this year…I can sign some truly outrageously back-loaded deals with a ton of funny money that all slams home in 2030 and not even care about the math.

Keep in mind the NFL agreed to this media rights deal back in 2021, and then Jeff Lurie - who has a background in film and TV production and knows that the league will be going back to the table in 2029 - signed Jalen Hurts to an extension two years later that looks like this.

Chess not checkers, folks.

To put this in perspective, the Eagles currently have $390 million in dead money on their books.

They are still with just regular decisions like cutting Bradberry, redoing Slay, and cutting Huff next year… they’re projected to have:

$130+ million in cap space in 2027
$195+ million in cap space in 2028
$220+ million in cap space in 2029

Sheesh, the Saints are trying to pick the Eagles clean:

Tom Pelissero
@TomPelissero
The #Saints are hiring Ted Rath as the director of sports science, per source.
Rath — perhaps best known as Sean McVay’s original “get back” coach — was most recently the #Eagles’ director of sports performance. Now, he follows Kellen Moore to New Orleans.

...

There's even a thread on Saintsreport about flippin' Nick Gates. Just a couple of guys chatting about Gates, but still. "Ooh-ooh ... ex-Eagle! Pick him up! Pick him up! Gotta be great -- an Eagle!" :bored: C'mon, my peeps -- Gates is a camp body at this point, not The Answer for our O-line issues.

All good, they ain't getting Howie to get them out of that cap hell, but we'll let them have McKee for a 3....

Re: Gates, the Eagles thought so highly of him as a backup center, that when Cam Jurgens couldn't start in the NFCCG, they moved Dickerson to center. Then when Dickerson got hurt, went with Jurgens who was already hurt. Honestly, the Saints are better off drafting a guy in the 5th round or later over Gates.

Unless Howie drafts or bring in someone even better to replace him I would very much prefer they hold on to McKee for the immediate future. Pickett has not done a damn thing in actual game play to convince me he is better than McKee. I would rather Howie find a way to unload Pickett for some, or any, type of return if he can.

I've no doubt Howie has this particular situation well in hand. All calm on the Championship front.

Eagles have hired Kevin Patulo to be the offensive coordinator. I feel like they probably could have interviewed a few people before they pulled the trigger on this one.

I’m not super excited about Patullo. However, he has been involved in all aspects of the Offense. And I’m hearing he was the designated guy to “tell Nick when he’s being an ahole.” Which is a great quality to have, and certainly makes him a better choice than Brian Johnson.

Also, salary cap for 2025 is expected to jump to $277.5 mil per ESPN notification minutes ago.
Remember when Hurts' contract was seen as huge and somewhat controversial? What a f*cking bargain right now
Howie's had it figured out for awhile that you need to pay guys early. That Wentz contract would have him like the 25th highest paid QB at this point. Jalens contract is perfect for paying the man and keeping it flexible to keep good players here.

They do things that attract players. If you are drafted here and perform early, you get rewarded early. They don't do the franchise tag. They know they need to set an example and pay their homegrown talent. It just creates a great team vibe knowing if you perform, your organization isn't going to try to play around with you.

It's good for the players and the team. The only player that doesn't want that is the ones that are thinking about Max money at their position and want to hold out for it. Reddick for example

The more I think about it, I just don't see Howie letting Milton Williams out the door, even if we have to pay whatever "max" money is. He's a home grown guy, he fits the scheme perfectly, he's entering his prime, he's a pass rushing DT, pretty much everything Howie and Co would look for if he were a free agent. He as graded by PFF as the #2 DT from a pass rushing grade and was the #1 OVERALL rated pass rusher for the playoffs this year. Sure, he isn't great against the run, much like Javon Hargrave, but this guy is a PLAYMAKER also. 5 sacks this year, 7 Including the playoffs, he had SIX forced fumbles this year - For comparison, Javon Hargrave has 4 for his entire career. BTW, Jalen Carter was the #4 ranked pass rushing DT this year. And while there is an argument made about finances and its being a deep DT class and all, I say let Howie sign him and figure that stuff out and double down and ALSO draft one of the top DTs left whenever we pick first. Just keep wave after wave coming directly at the QB from the DT spot, seems like a great way to win a lot of games...

The Eagles have gotten so much from the Saints over the past few years; Zack Baun, CJGJ, Malcom Jenkins, Darren Sproles......I figure we owe them one or two.

I was actually coming here to post something similar and I’m beginning to think he may be priority over Baun. Also, if the cap does jump like it’s expected they could backload the deals and essentially sign them all 🤷‍♂️

Haha dude! Would love to grab beers with you at the next parade, always enjoy your posts and insight.

I basically have Baun and Milton tied, maybe 51/49 Baun b/c mainly he IS 1st Team All Pro and we have literally no one to replace him, while Milton, we have guys in the pipeline (it would still be a drop off) and the draft is strong at the position. + How the team values the interior pass rush. I really think we get both back though. 1. He wants to be back, just wants to be paid. 2. Howie boy. 3 Vic Boy, wanted to trade for him last year. 4. it just sends the message to the team A. We will pay you when you perform and B. Lets keep the band together to keep this going.

I can't believe the Combine and free agency are like right around the corner this is insane

I don't know. They try and identify young guys who haven't taken off yet, i.e., Milton Williams PRIOR TO this season and get them at a bargain. I don't see the Eagles handing Williams a contract at $25M APY no matter how they structure the cap hits.

Meh, I don't think losing Moore is a big deal. As long as the new OC continues to run the ball and limit throws, the Eagles will be fine on offense.

Out of Milt and Jordan Davis...which one would get more on the open market? I feel like the Eagles would be interested in paying Milt or JD....not both.

I don't know. They try and identify young guys who haven't taken off yet, i.e., Milton Williams PRIOR TO this season and get them at a bargain. I don't see the Eagles handing Williams a contract at $25M APY no matter how they structure the cap hits.
Lowest blitz rate in a playoff game — #NFL since 2017

2024 #Eagles — 0% (Super Bowl LIX vs. #Chiefs)

2024 Eagles — 6% (Wild Card vs. #Packers)

This approach seems to be a staple of the Fangio system which is why I started leaning to them keeping him, as well as the rising cap.

Eagles have hired Kevin Patulo to be the offensive coordinator. I feel like they probably could have interviewed a few people before they pulled the trigger on this one.

It was quick but if their mind was made up, why waste time.

I’m not super excited about Patullo. However, he has been involved in all aspects of the Offense. And I’m hearing he was the designated guy to “tell Nick when he’s being an ahole.” Which is a great quality to have, and certainly makes him a better choice than Brian Johnson.

I’m not super excited, however, this late in the game I’m sure the OC pool dried up quick. Hope he works out.

Meh, I don't think losing Moore is a big deal. As long as the new OC continues to run the ball and limit throws, the Eagles will be fine on offense.
Stop it 😑
