*** 2025 Pittsburgh Steelers: money can’t buy me defense (9 Viewers)

Not firing the Oline coach to see if we could get something more from the apparent bust of Jones was negligence.

It really was, even if in the end he still craps out. If Jones flames out totally in Pitt, then "Kevin Dotsons" it somewhere else in a year or two, it will just never be mentioned.

A lot of talking heads/fans like to point to Frazier and McCormack as "wins" for the current OL coach, buuut....Frazier was about as NFL ready as you could get for a C, and I am really not that sold on McCormack yet based on anything he's showed so far either. "He's been okay most of the time, I guess" is a feather in a cap now for a coach? Great.

Still might finish 2nd in the division given the Burrow injury. I dunno - actually the Bengals are probably better than us even without Burrow. Hell Cleveland might be as well. I’m glad my son’s soccer and baseball games mostly overlap with when the Steelers play. Gives me enough reason to not have to tune into this garbage.

The whole organization is completely inept. The # of massive draft failures is alarming & the refusal to move on from Tomlin and the horrendous coaching staff has convinced me to maybe start spending my Sundays doing more enjoyable things. We now have 3 unwatchable pro sports teams in the burgh.

Its the drafting that is killing them. How many first round picks are still on the team? How many 5th year options were picked up?

2025 - Harmon
2024 - Fautanu
2023 - Jones
2022 - Pickett
2021 - Harris
2019 - Bush
2018 - Edmunds
2017 - Watt
2016 - Burns
2015 - Dupree

Only 2 guys currently with the team, and they are their worst 2 OL..

Not firing the Oline coach to see if we could get something more from the apparent bust of Jones was negligence. And it seems that was a Rooney not wanting to pay coaches thing. What I hear over and over is that we have no clue just how cheap Rooney really is.
Meyer should’ve been out the door ages ago. You’ve nailed it on Rooney’s penny-pinching when it comes to coaching. Steelers consistently run one of the leanest staffs in the league. But when it comes to defense, Rooney’s not shy about opening the checkbook. Funny how their highest-paid star hasn’t logged a single sack in six straight games.

That said, it’s not just on Rooney. Tomlin’s coaching tree has been a mess for years. It’s been called out repeatedly, and the lack of development across the board speaks volumes.

They should have traded Watt when they had the chance. He's done nothing since middle of last season. As someone pointed out, the kicker & punter are the only ones worth anything on this team.

I will give Warren props.. He probably isn't a RB1, but works his *** off, but you are right.

I have been on the Watt trade train for 3 years.

It’s only week 2 so don’t want to overreact but this team, particularly the defense and offensive line, appear to have no idea what they’re doing. That has to be on the coaching staff.

They need to get this sorted out or they should be all gone at season’s end.

Fun list! Silk is too much money to spend for Rooney.

I'm about done with this team, its the same thing every year, win a game, everyone is happy, next week, not only lose, but look awful. Probably beat NE by 3-4 pts, then get skulled by the Vikings. At that pace, its no wonder they hover around 9-8. Rooney is off counting his money, 24 hrs isnt a enough for the GM to work this roster, and Tomlin is oblivious to whats going on around him. Their asst coaches are airheads, and if they are not, Tomlin wont allow them to express themselves. Old over the hill team, over paid, under performing. But Rooney will endorse it for next year too. 7 picks in first 4 rds of the draft, 6 will be failures. But hey, Tomlin won a super bowl 16 years ago with Cowher's team. He's a one hat coach. Like Watt and Heyward needed to be one helmet players. 🤮🤢🤮

Its been clear this team needs a coaching enema for at least 4 or 5 years. Hell, probably been clear since the Blake Bortles debacle.

Nothing I've seen these first couple games makes me feel like anything at all has or will change. "9-8, back into playoffs final week of the season, destroyed in WC round". Rinse, repeat.

Have to see how it goes. Rodgers looks great especially considering his age, but there is zero chance he makes it through the season healthy. Miles Garrett already has Rodgers' Halloween decoration under construction for his yard.

The D made Jets and Seattle offenses look like world beaters. That can't continue and still win 9 games or contend for playoffs. Cinci might be the easiest 2 games on the schedule sadly with Burrow going down.

Yeah, he gon' die by week 6 taking hits at this rate. On pace for, like, 60 sacks allowed. 🥶

Pats leading the league in sacks so far, I think. This week could be pretty ugly for this OL.
