2025 Team Defense & Defense by Committee Thread (19 Viewers)

OK, for those still alive, who are we looking at for Week 16? I currently have KC vs LV and Cle @ Hou, but there are some attractive streamers on the wire
  • Den vs NE -- not as attractive as it looked a couple weeks ago, especially since Zappe seems to have restored a baseline level of competence to NE's offense. Still, Denver has a good D, and NE has a bad offense, so that still makes them a good option. Added bonus that they get the Chargers again in W17
  • Philly vs NYG -- another one that I'm a little less excited about. In this case it's because Philly's pass D has been God-awful. Still, will TDV and/or Tyrod really be able to take advantage of that?
  • GB @ Car -- Panthers offense remains execrable. But Packers seem to be falling apart. They blew a game to the Giants and got torched by TB
  • Cinci @ Pitt -- Steelers also seem to be melting down, and Rudolph now in at QB
  • Other possibilities: Chi vs Ari, Wash @ NYJ
So......I have Cleveland, Denver and Green Bay, 3 of which you listed above!

Now then, who would you suggest I start in Week 16 of these three??

GB is such a bad defense I wont consider them. They got abused by Tommy Cutlets and Baker Mayfield. Id rank Denver over CLE unless Stroud is out again.

Anybody else here a little concerned about starting the Broncos DST the next two weeks after the showing they had last night?

They looked stout the past several weeks and have incredible matchups against the Pats and Chargers, but last night made them look more like they looked against Miami earlier in the season. I’m now second guessing and considering other options.

Or will they right the ship? Any Denver homers know if there were key injuries to the defense? Or are they still good but just outclassed last night by a Super Bowl contender?
Think it was DEN's third game in a row on the road. DET came to play and it's not like you can't run on them. The success through the air was shocking to be honest.

That said, NE can't take advantage. They will struggle to score any points (especially if H. Henry is out). Think the lost another O lineman (Strange). Think it will be a solid play but maybe not spectacular (with several turnovers, TD).
If somehow I advance tonight, I might consider Chicago at home vs. Arizona over Denver. Denver will allow less points but I think Kyler turns the ball over and takes more sacks. I’m not sure id start either but who knows.

My thinking exactly.

I think Bill B. will run, run, run too at that Denver D. Less likely for turnovers.

Although Pats lineman Strange on IR and Denver gets Karem Jackson back this week.

Anyone like Colts D playing the Falcons. Coach Smith said Ridder may be benched this week.

It's either the Colts or Bears D that's available for me as viable options because I've hoarded RBs and streamed defense all year.

Who's the better choice?

Denver
KC
GB
Chicago

Are my choices. I’d have to claim Denver/Chicago.
I have Denver and GB, could try and pick up Chicago off waivers. I also have NO and Cleveland so don’t really need Chicago.

But, not sure who I will start…leaning Denver but GB’s last week’s poor performance won’t stop me from starting them if they give me the best chance for more points. Glad to have the options. Thoughts?

I have Denver, KC, and Chicago.

Pretty sure I'm eliminating KC as an option. Think LV will be able to move the ball with Jacobs and Adams in a division game. Riding high after last week too. Watched the entire KC/NE game (after starting the KC D) and was disappointed in what I was seeing.

Think it comes down to Denver or CHI. Denver the safer play, CHI the upside play. Chicago has three straight weeks of 15 points and multiple turnovers. Trying to get my head around what's going on here and if it's legit or fluky.

I'm sure I'll go back and forth all week...and land on the wrong one.

Week 16 ..

I have the fun choice of:

Buff @ LAC
NYJ vs Wash
Den vs NE

I have the Jets inserted in my lineup now over Buffalo only because they are home. Thoughts?
Isn’t every team that plays at LAC basically home? Billsmafia travels well but Chargers should get the “new” head coach boost.

I hate to say it but I think Zach Wilson might be the key to the Jets D having a good week.

  1. Colts at ATL
    last 6 weeks: DST2, DST2, DST13, DST1, DST17, DST4.
  2. Packers at CAR
Cannot trust Green Bay without Jaire but good floor - over the last 9 weeks the Panthers have scored 109 pts & topped 300 yards once.
  3. Browns at HOU
    Elite defense facing Case Keenum.
  4. Texans v CLE
Joe Flacco has 140 drop backs in 3 starts. That's a lot of opportunity for things to happen. 7 sacks last week without Will Anderson Jr.
Feels like three good choices and four great matchups, but probably roll with the Colts bc they're so consistent. Plus they're facing a HC who has an intentionally dysfunctional offense.

16 team league, the pickens are slimmmmmm, my only options are

Pitt vs Cincy
Tenn vs Seattle
TB vs Jax
Minn vs Detroit

(laughing crying emoji) anybody have a opinion?

Somehow I find myself with 4 DST's on my dynasty team that also has the #1 seed, Ravens, Dolphins, Browns and picked up the Packers for this week vs the Panthers. I think the Browns are the pick if CJ is out, if not a close call between the Dolphins and Packers.

Similar to some others in here, I have a decision between:
DEN vs. NE
or
IND @ ATL

In another league, I snagged PHI as they were available before last week's MNF Game and they stack up well against NYG.

On a side note, is MIA droppable now? had a good run, but gets DAL & then BAL

I made a move for the Eagles defense 2 months ago for week 16. Stick to the plan. Stick to the plan. Stick to the plan
.
I’m right there with you. All my other options out there are just other coin flips in similar situations. I may go Bears, as people have pointed out in here they are on a hot streak. Scored 10, 16, 15.5, and 18.5 the last few weeks in my league.

The one thing really holding me back is I have saquon and PA matter a plenty in our league… but a defense can still score well… so I’m hoping for a funnel of TDs through saquon and some turnovers and sacks from Devito… but I’m very cautious about it being the right choice.

For those with a possible week 17 and an empty bench spot, Jaguar D has a date at home with Carolina. Early line has Jags - 7.5 with a projected team total of 16 points for Carolina.

Browns or Packers?

Packers matchup looks so good, but hesitent to start a not so good D just because they are playing a bad team.

I have the same choice, going Browns as long as CJ is out. If CJ was in, not sure which way I would go.
I too have these choices, but also have Denver defense against New England. Right now, that is how I am going. Thoughts?

Zappe is pretty bad. Broncos are solid. But still like Browns.

I agree

Having withdrawal symptoms over my DST this week.

GB @ CAR

CHI v ARZ

Please tell me what to do ..
Your plead for help sums up my entire season. I have not made one right move all year and I am somehow in the playoffs in 2/3 leagues. I don’t know what the hell to do from here on out. I am even open to leaving my DEF blank in fear of getting negative points. I am ready to give the keys to anyone who is willing to take over for me at this point…I am melting under the pressure…

With that said I am rolling with CHI for remainder of season.

Fbg has Zeke super high this week but also Denver DST 1. Confused lol

Denver D isn’t good. Not a big fan of starting a bad defense because of the competition especially if it’s a scoring system that is more sacks and turnovers vs total yards or points allowed.
