2025 Team Defense & Defense by Committee Thread (9 Viewers)

The Titans DST has my attention after Sunday night's dominant performance against the Rams. I see their name get mentioned in this thread from time to time, but shutting down the Rams has convinced me.

Pretty good schedule before their week 13 bye, and a playoffs schedule of @PIT, and then getting SF and Miami at home doesn't seem nearly as scary as it did to begin the season.

I hope I can steal them with my 11th WW priority.
Wkrth a 2md waiver priority?

I probably wouldn’t go that far. Maybe your league mates didn’t watch this game and are basing their opinions of the titans dst on what they’ve been before today. Maybe they’re not sold on the matchup against NO next week as being a plus matchup if they’re a streaming manager, or are put off by the pending week 13 bye. You might be able to scoop them after waivers. And if you don’t manage to get them, it’s just a DST after-all.

Well let's see I dropped saints after a bad game where I expected more a few weeks back to pick up the chargers who got me 2 points and today the Ravens who got me -1 but have 2 great matchups coming up. I would love a set and forget defense bit agree a league winning add at RB might be better choice. So will hold for now hope to pick up after waivers. If not stick with Ravens or go Browns

I am considering dumping Saints D for them if possible.

It seems obvious to us, but I'm not sure how much hype the Tennessee DST is actually getting so you might still be able to scoop them up. FP consensus rankings for example only has them listed 24th on their rest of season rankings, which seems very wrong to me.

If they have a big game against NO this week, I'll bet the cat will then be out of the bag.

Rolling with the Steelers again this week but they're hard to trust with the offense being so bad.
I'm giving them one more week only due to the matchup but I also scooped up TB last week when they were dropped on a bye. I think they are more set and forget and also have a good matchup this week (albeit not as good as Pit).

Going new England until they prove me wrong. They've had double digit scores on all but 2 games in my league this year. TB and Dal. This is a case of coaching bringing up slightly above average talent.

There really are no dominant defenses this year. Everyone has dud weeks.

I picked New Orleans over them last week and lost due to it.  I want a redo.

Honestly, I really think you have to value offenses in same divisions differently from an offense outside your division. Because they play each other so frequently, even terrible offenses like Jets, Miami, and Atlanta can do well against a division rival if they scheme well. So it's not a given for a defense to do well against a weaker same division opponent.

If it's a non-division matchup then I think it's a lot safer and more predictable.

edit: Said the guy who started Dallas over Patriots because he was afraid of McCaffrey 🤷‍♂️

Ive rolled with NE...but waivers went overnight and someone dropped TB.

They seem similar outside of the TDs NE scored the last 2 weeks.

TB has weeks of 0, 0, 2, 4, 8, 9, 19, 21...and have had their bye  One "worrisome" game against Buffalo remaining.

NE has a weeks of 2, 3, 3, 5, 5, 12, 13, 19, 20...still have their bye to come and the same "worrisome" game against Buffalo being the worst of the rest of the games.

They seem very similar...TB would have the luxury of not having to replace for the bye week...and both would be teams to probably just play them through the Buffalo game given my other bench issues.  (and no, I cannot afford to carry both).

Who to go with this week?

Dallas vs Atlanta: due for a bounce back? Going to be pissed after a blowout? Matt Ryan always takes some sacks and often times throws INT's. Falcons offense is good when they want to be.

Arizona vs Carolina: I felt better with Darnold back there, he would at least get sacked a few times and the offense has looked stagnate the last couple weeks with him starting. Walker is a bit of a wild card to me, but maybe I am overthinking this. CMC with another game under his belt and could be trying to play catchup most of the game if COLT MCCOY is back there lol.

I keep trying to talk myself out of Cardinals and into Dallas, just because I have a weird feeling about both. Cards being bad and Cowboys being good.

TO opps for anyone playing the Panthers is really hard to ignore. Pretty good floor established at least whereas Dallas could be hamstrung by another poor offensive showing. Arizona is also at home. If Kyler is back and they score, it's going to put pressure on the Panthers (whose HC's seat is warming), they tilt away from CMC and force the QB into risky throws.

Curious about NEXT week (rolling with PIT vs DET this week).

See SF @JAX, but as I mentioned above they look like crud and I could see Lawrence/Robinson actually having some success at home.

Also just picked up BALT and they're @CHI next week. Thought this would be a good matchup but Fields coming around. LV vs Cinci looks iffy too.

Chargers coach Brandon Staley expects DE Joey Bosa (questionable, ankle) to play in Week 10 against the Vikings.

This confirms Bosa's missed Friday practice wasn't a setback. Bosa's ankle isn't 100 percent, but he's expected to play through it. The Chargers will also get CB Asante Samuel Jr back this week after he cleared the concussion protocol.

Bills placed DT Star Lotulelei on the reserve/COVID-19 list.

Buffalo also lost defensive tackle Justin Zimmer to a torn ACL earlier this week. With multiple absences at the position, they elevated Brandin Bryant from the practice squad for their Week 10 game against the Jets. Lotulelei has a pair of sacks and three TFLs this year.

Whew. Glad I didn’t overreact to Denver game and drop cowboys. Just goes to show you football is random and even good defenses and players can have down games.

played them over patriots. 22 points, couldn’t be happier to ride both of them ROS.

Thinking I'm done riding the Steelers defense at this point. May go with with Eagles this week as they've got NO at home. If Kamara sits again they've got an advantage.

Only problem there is Tennessee struggled with New Orleans without Kamara and I consider Tenn a much better Defense than Philly right now.

True, but the Saints were at home. And the Titans still did ok in my league since they had a FR and a handful of sacks. Not sure what the weather in Philly will be this coming weekend but it could effect NO.

For those in leagues with deeper benches, using a rotation of Tennessee and Philadelphia looks pretty appealing.

  • Week 11 Houston at Tennessee
  • Week 12 Philadelphia at NYG
  • Week 13 Philadelphia at Jets
  • Week 14 Jacksonville at Tennessee
  • Week 15 Tennessee at Pitt and WFT at Philadelphia
  • Week 16 NYG at Philadelphia
  • Week 17 Miami at Tennessee
Week 15 looks like the worst matchups on paper. What do you guys think?
