2025 Team Defense & Defense by Committee Thread (6 Viewers)

I know they haven't been good, but the Niners defense has about as good of a schedule as you could hope for. Only the Rams and Colts give you pause. The rest are nice. Having said that, the Niners defense hasn't been good.

GB defense is severely overrated

Last week i had rams score 1 and dropped them for GB. Brutal
Yeah, amazing they gave up 18 points to the god-awful Bengals, while picking up a single sack against the worst OL in the league against a statue like Flacco, and getting zero take-aways. At home.
They were getting pressure on Flacco. Just like the Cowboys the Bengals were throwing very quick passes before they could get to Flacco. And the CBs had good coverage but Chase made some ridiculously good contested catches. Not sure why GB didn't adjust

Miami is 31st in EPA as a pass defense (-54.5).

Miami is 32nd in EPA as a rush defense (-7.3).

I dove into Kimani Vidal's film, and my biggest takeaway is that I might start ranking every RB playing against the Dolphins as that week's RB1.

I have been looking at playoff matchups for D. I am hoping for a bye with MN for week 16 vs Giants and NE as well but do not like Buf and Balt weeks 15 and 16 -- Jets in Week 17 though

The Vikings are really high surprisingly ROS but i do not like their schedule at all. It looks super tough. All the teams they face are good on offense.

Vikings must be really good though. They are ranked 2nd ROs on Fantasy Pros, but I don't buy it.

When would we start looking at Playoff DST? I have Pats DST now but might be keeping a closer watch on 15-17
Week 10-11. Still a lot of variables that can happen even then but no way to know what kind of injuries pop up.
I must be weird because I start looking at those playoff weeks pre draft. I get things change, but some things don't. Some offenses are just always gonna be bad. Ha ha

A lot of things change. Pre draft Baltimore was a set it and forget it defense. Now they are waiver wire trash. The offenses we think we know are bad suddenly are must avoids. Then you get injuries galore. Niners defense was studly and now no Bosa and no Warner, they're going to be mediocre at best.

I wait till week 10 to start looking because thats about as close as you can get where you know what's what to that point. Barring even worse injuries, you know who's good and who's bad. I still rather stash a lotto ticket RB or WR till then.

Yep. I get all that. I ain't changing. Ha ha

Thoughts on the Bears? Other than the woodshedding vs. the Lions, they’ve been pretty mid-level competent. Considering switching the Jags out…

I hope so. I do have concern that teams are going to stack the run like Pitt did unless Gabriel can prove he can make them pay.

I’m using Pitt tonight. I have Minnesota too but their schedule stinks. Cleveland weather looks brutal Sunday but I’d have to get them on waivers. KC also available.

Its no longer safe to start defenses on Thursday night. I dont know when this changed but it appears offenses have the advantage in Thursday games now.

Exhibit 1: pitt vs cincy
Exhibit 2: rams vs injury depleted 49ers
Exhibit 3: bills vs dolphins

These were all smash start defenses and all 3 failed MISERABLY

Was thinking that last night after watching how that game was playing out. Unreal.

Could even add Philly vs giants

well, i'll take the blame for Pittsburgh.

seemed like a no-brainer last week and this week.

back to the drawing board.

Will be interesting to see if their fantasy production catches up to their IRL performance (currently No. 1 in defensive DVOA).

I'm in a weird situation with my roster: I have a bunch of guys who are hurt (Bowers, Piersall, Godwin, Chuba), but none of them have been placed on IR by their teams. That means every Monday they go from out to questionable, which prevents me from making any transactions until they are declared out again. As a result, I either have to make my transactions before Monday afternoon or else put in a waiver claim (which is something I'd prefer not to waste on a DST).

My current DST is Seattle, which is on bye next week. One thing I'm thinking about doing is dropping Bam Knight or Godwin before Sunday night's game and picking up Atlanta so that I have them for next week. (Could also do the same trick with TB, which is not as good of a D but plays NO in Week 8)

I started them also. Over Seahawks. We both got duped. Smh
I ended up with 9.24 (we get one point per 25 return yards) they were projected for 20. Went against Chase.
Well look at u with your fancy pants scoring. I got 1 pt out them yesterday. Ha ha

I bet he has indoor plumbing too.

I hate it and the new kickoff rules. I’ll be asking for a vote to remove it. Most D score 12-20 in this setting.

Broncos finally met their match for the second time this season, with 5 fantasy points on the day. Even the best defenses will have an off day, but this performance convinced me to not use them against the surging cowboys next week.

I picked up ATL for week 8. Miami matchup at home looks juicy.
