#3 pick Overall (1 Viewer)

Tough call. Please assume that LJ is signed and Gore is good to go.

I am torn on this one. Who do you like at this spot and why. Dodds projections have Westbrook and Bush ahead of the rest. Your input would be greatly appreciated.

Shark Pool Rule#1

#1. If you can't follow the directions and choose to post a "who should I draft / trade for / keep?" type post that belongs in the Assistant Coach forum, it will be locked, not moved to the right forum. If you continue to do this in hopes that you'll get a few responses before it gets moved, you won't be posting anymore.

Why isn't Alexander an option?

That's who I'm targeting at #3.

He's as good a choice as any after the consensus top 2 are gone (LT, Steve Jax). I don't think he quite reaches 2005 levels, but 1500 yards and 16-18 TDs is not out of the question.

Depends on if this is a ppr league.

Optimally you should have listed what you think of each of your choices and than asked for insight otherwise. Also teh search function can help with this. I think I have seen at least 3 other topics dealing with the third pick etc. BTW best bet would be to trade down to 6 and take whomever is left there and move yourself up in round 2 and 3.

Where is Tatum Bell? I hear he is greater than Marshall Faulk.

I honestly take LJ #3 and hope he gets in camp.

Anyone who takes Reggie Bush in the top 5, much less at 3, is out of his mind.
Unless you're in a PPR, then he represents pretty good value. Bush has been regularly going in the first round. In a PPR, after LT and SJAX, Westbrook and Bush have tremendous upside.

I have this pick in my 14 team league. Fortunately, we do not draft until September 5th so the LJ/Chiefs situation has a chance to play itself out. I'll likely pick LJ is he is with the Chiefs for week 1. Otherwise, Frank Gore it is.

totally agree with this here. I have in my top 5: LT, SJ, Addai, Westbrook, Bush. I am in a ppr league. If by some remote chance that Duece goes out then you may, may could see Bush sneak up on #1 in points.

If you say so, but I can't see taking a guy third overall who splits time with another RB and who isn't a proven big TD scorer yet in the pros. To me, the top five guys are RBs who are the unquestioned starters on their teams and who are likely to score double digit TDs. Bush is neither of those. Don't get me wrong, I am never someone who drafts "safe". I am all about taking chances rather than going with the boring safe pick, but Reggie Bush in the top 5? No way would I pull the trigger on that.

I have Addai ranked #3 RB

1. Larry Johnson's situation scares me, but he'll probably sign. Still, he has had a big load the last few seasons, he's either due for a letdown an injury or a combo of both. The fact that he hasn't been in training camp leads me to believe that an injury is definitely a strong possibility. Too risky, IMO.

2. Addai is young, healthy and capable of doing great things on a great offense, including a bump in reception totals this year. He had 22 recs in post season last year when the Colts focused on him more than Rhodes. It will be difficult for Addai not to be productive on that offene, especially since he's the premier back with not much competition.

3. Shaun Alexander - - Top 10 yes, but not top 3. I strongly believe Alexander peaked and what we're going to see from him won't be 1500 yards and 18 TDs.

4. Gore - - Last year was his career year, IMO. He's been injured all too often to expect that he can have another full season. I think he's a top 10 RB, but not top 3.

5. Westbrook and Bush - - I love their receiving capabilities, but Westbrook has only topped 1000 yards rushing once and Bush didn't come close to that. My top 3 RBs better reach 1300-1500 rushing yards. In a PPR league I can see these guys higher in rank, but I still like Addai ahead of them both.

Come on, this is none of the above. This is the Shark pool and this is a shark question. 40 million drafts are taking place over the next few weeks and this is as good a shark pool topic as any.
