I have had Halloween on the brain lately. I was thinking of watching 31 movies, one for every day of October. I have a list of movies started. anyone have movies to add?

I had a similar idea to watch a few classic scary movies with my kids (13 & 15) over the course of the month, but I never really gave a damn about scary movies so maybe I'll get some good ideas here.

The one I remember I always watched on TV when I was a lad was "Dark Night of the Scarecrow"

-Every time someone got killed the 'death count' flashed on the screen

-When a fly got killed it only got counted as a half

-The killer was walking up stairs and stepped in a piece of gum and said 'Mmm, sugar free'.

More of a zombie flick but The Evil Dead scared the poo out of me as a preteen. Don't let your kids watch it and try to take them camping - you won't be able to get them out of the car.

Umm, that was the long and short of the joke. As for Costanza, you are mixing up summer camp slasher films. The one you're talking about is The Burning (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0082118/). Rat from Fast Times At Ridgemont High was also in it.

Salem's Lot - David Soul is kind bland but the rest of the cast, especially James Mason, is top-notch.

The Night Stalker - starring Darren McGavin. This spawned the 70s show Kolchak: The Night Stalker

Trilogy of Terror - three stories written by the great Richard Matheson and starring Karen Black. The third scared the crap out of me when I was a kid.

Dark Night of the Scarecrow - finally released on DVD. Very creepy.

A buddy of mine was actually talking this up (but was laughing at the time). I am curious to see it but I'm not going to buy it.

The 1963 original "The Haunting" is good.

Another along the same line is "The Innocents" which was later remade as "The Others". Both are good.
