3rd Shark Pool Mock Draft (1 Viewer)

Seattle could really come out of this good by moving around a couple of times, get some extra picks and still end up with a guy they really need.
:yes:We've added a 2010 2nd & 4th, plus another 2nd this year:Was: 1.04, 2.05, 3.04We're at:1.172.052.203.04plus an extra 2010 2nd & 4th.It's a shame the Lions deal didn't work out.

Well, since we let 1.07 get rescinded. 1.08 has been traded. I got a PM I ignored after hustlingSeattle trades 1.08 to the New York Jets for 1.17 & 2.20 & a 2010 4th
Now that would be an excellent trade for both teams. And the Jets fans go crazy!!!!!!!!!!!
they will go crazier after Sanchez busts. I like Gamer's plan so far. Doubt it works this well in the real thing, but if a GM actually pulled this off, any team would be thrilled.

 I agree...and 8 seems like Sanchez's floor so I like that trade a lot.

Glad I could provide some entertainment. Hopefully the Seahawks fans from the Northwest will like this.

Once the 2 OT's went off the board 1-2, I knew it was time to work the move-down offers even harder, and beleive it or not, I have a couple offers in for 1.17 already. Seattle's in a unique position in that they stunk mostly due to injury, and have some needs all over the place, but not a lot immediately pressing.

I agree. I didn't see him getting past SF so I made the move. Anyone can bust, including whoever the Jets would have taken if they stay at 1.17, so I felt going after the player who is by far the #1 on my list for the Jets is the best move at this point.

With the 1.09 pick, the Green Bay Packers select OT. Michael Oher- Ole Miss

Things I considered

Players Talent

Freshman All American Team as a Freshman

2nd Team All SEC OT as Sophmore

1st Team All SEC OT as Junior

All American 1st Team as Senior

Team Needs -

Green Bay lost Tauscher this year, and Clifton had surgury to remove cartiledge from his knees this offseason. That is one step away from the microfracture surgury. Because of both of their longevity, their is no apparent depth behind them. Colledge may move from guard, but thier is still another OT spot to eventually fill.

GM History

Ted Thompson has a history of taking Offensive Lineman who have played a lot games. As some examples

Darren Colledge - 4 Year starter, 51 consecutive Starts in College

Jason Spitz - 4 year starter, 39 Consecutive Starts in College, 45 total.

Michael Oher has started all 4 years at Ole Miss, and has 47 Consecutive starts

Additionally, I think Oher would do well in Green Bays ZBS. His lack of strength can be offset by his quickness and his ability to hook and wall players off. Plus, he is a dominant pass protector, and keeping Rodgers upright is the key to everything Green Bay does offensively.

Other Players I considered.

DE - Tyson Jackson

OLB - Brian Orakpo

CB - Malcolm Jenkins

At DE, the Packers have a Huge need. Right now their rotation is Jenkins coming off a serious Muscle Tear, Harrel coming off a serious back injury, Jolly who is in trouble with the law, and Michael Montgomery. If they can trade back when the Sanchez pick gets auctioned off, they will do so and take Jackson a little bit lower. But at 9, with the money the player will get, they will get a comparable talent at OT.

I think the Packers are comfortable with their Linebacking Group. They have Kampman, Barnett, Hawk, Bishop, Chiller, and Popinga. They may add players here, but not in the first round.

At CB, both Woodson and Harris are getting older. But the Packers had Tramon Williams play well, and they still have Patrick Lee and Will Blackmon.

I'm sure you're happy I dealt with the Jets. He would've been my pick there for the Seahawks. I like him a lot, and think he can play either tackle spot.

TRADE

The Seattle Seahawks trade the 1.04 pick to the Jacksonville Jaguars for the 1.08 pick, and a 2010 2nd round pick.

The Jaguars are on the clock, and have been PM'ed.

He mentioned whom he was moving up for to me, but I will see if he posts himself.

My thoughts were that the 2 guy I most wanted were gone at 1.01 & 1.02, so to pick up another first day pick for 4 spots is pretty nice.

A couple other teams wanted to move way up, but we didn't feel like there was quite enough value there - although it would've made for a LOT of discussion in one case.

Anyone interested in the 1.08 can let me know, I'm open to offers as well.
I'm sure that there is very little chance that the Jags move up in this draft.

With the 11th pick in the 2009 NFL Draft, The Buffalo Bills select Brian Orakpo, U. of Texas Longhorns.

A DE is the biggest need for the Bills and although it has been said that Orakpo is not an elite pass rusher, he was also not expected to fall this far.

1.12 Denver selects Tyson Jackson, DE LSU

He projects as the best 5 technique DE and will be able to play DE when Denver lines up out of the 4-3 as well. With Jackson anchoring 1 end spot, it will help free up the OLB on his side of the ball when Denver lines up out of an odd front. It would have been a tough choice had Orakpo not been taken by Buffalo.

He was in consideration for the Browns... but at #5 I think it was too high for a combine star.

You follow the team closer than I do probably, but are you saying IF Stafford fell and they got wind that they would have to move up to get him, and it only cost a '10 2nd to do so, that they wouldn't make the deal I made?

Yeah, all of the early mocks had him going to the Browns, but I think this is a more reasonable spot.

The ghost of Vernon Gholston may make teams think twice about Orakpo. If he is there at 11 and Oher and Andre Smith are gone, I think the Bills almost have to take him.

Green Bay (6-10)-fatkid-Michael Oher, OT, Mississippi

I like this pick but hope they go defense the rest of the draft. Chase Coffman, the son of the Packer great TE may good if there late though.

who can take a PM for San Diego's pick? I'll be out the next few hours and don't want to stall the draft - or miss the pick.

yes and no. If you had taken Oher, we would have traded down and taken the extra draft picks. Orakpo doesn't fit for me based on our existing depth at LB already. I don't know if I would have gone as low as 17, but I would have traded back. I updated my original post with the logic I used.

I expect to go Defense the rest of the draft, but the Offensive Tackle position is a premium position, and we got a player at 9, so I feel good about it.

I think an Offensive Tackle is a pressing need. Do they have anyone behind Walter Jones if his Knee doesn't hold up?

I sent a PM to the Redskin drafter about an hour ago and haven't heard back so...

1.13 Washington selects Brian Cushing, LB USC

PM sent to Helltoupee

I have rcvd picks via PM for the 2 picks after New Orleans

The GM is convinced Locklear - their current RT - can slide over.

with the 14 pick the Saints select

Malcolm Jenkins DB Ohio St

posting via iphone so its a little hard for a lenghty diatribe but this pick addresses a major need.If the Saints owned a second I would have went DB in the 2nd and Matthews here.Either at CB or S Jenkins will fit right in for the Saints. Tried to slide down to no avail.

1.15 Houston selects Clay Matthews, LB USC

LB Clay Matthews, USC who will, along with continuing the tradition of USC graduates succeding in the NFL on both sides of the ball, bring much glory and happiness to not only the Matthews family name, but also to the Texans and lead this fledgling franchise still, into the NFL playoffs for the first time in the franchise's history.

The Seattle Seahawks trade the 1.17 pick to the Arizona Cardinals for the 1.22 pick & 3.22 (the first of their 2 3rd round selections) in the 2009 draft.

HellToupee is back on the clock!

I realize some of you may wonder why I'm dealing with a rival team, but I view Boldin as a large loss for them, and that we should be relatively healthy.

This trade enables me to have enough picks to address everything I want to address on day one, and still have accumulated picks for next year.

Was: 1.04, 2.05, 3.04

We're at:

1.22

2.05

2.20

3.04

3.22

plus an extra 2010 2nd & 4th.

No offense, but this isn't fantasy football. There's ZERO chance that Seattle trades down 3 times.

None taken, but either I assume I'm in charge, and I do this the way I want, or I do what is being rumored & the like, and that's not nearly as interesting. If I was doing what I think they will do, I simply would've made a pick at every spot, and not bothered to trade - they are rare. I've actually gotten alot of offers for the spots I was at - it's not my "fault" that I got to deal the 2 top 10 picks that resulted in QB's being taken - the Seahwks don't need one of those guys.I was tempted to keep this pick, but I felt this was the right thing to do.

I think there's a lot more chance that the Seahawks move down into this range than they take Beanie Wells or the like at 4 - and that happened in a prior mock. I also am really hoping they don't take Sanchez.

I have a few guys I want to take - other than Oher, when he was on the board, there a bunch of guys I think are all roughly the same. The deal to move from 4 to 8 was good, and I was prepared to draft there, but I got a a good offer to move down from the Jets. Had the Lions been on-line, they probably would've been interested in jumping to 8, and they were talking to me to jump back up to 4. So I would've been in this neck of the woods, but in one less deal.

Is Ted Thompson drafting for Seattle? :lmao:
Sorry to screw up the draft by making trades. :thumbup:QB's are a desired commodity, and the 2 picks I dealt earlier resulted in Stafford & Sanchez going to the teams I traded with. I suspect this trade is the one poeple are pissed about, because it's one too many.I won't be making any more.

You took my post the wrong way. I was not being critical at all....it was a joke. We are all here for fun, trade away.

Sorry about that - didn't mean to offend you, but I do have a plan - and it's to exploit certain things it be clear after I pick in the 1st - or sooner if this next pick goes the way I think it will.

The Cardinals Select Knowshon Moreno RB Georgia

when I traded Boldin it was with an idea to be able and grab Moreno with the picks. More thoughts on the deal & pick when I get home .I do like Steve's moves with Seattle

And I will now comment.

If I kept the pick, it would've been Moreno.

I felt that there were 3 moments to grab value in this draft:

1. The 1.04 pick, once the top 2 OT's went off the board - I knew Stafford would be there. Seahawks don't need a QB - trade out.

2. The spot where Sanchez starts to slide. Almost dealt it to the Lions for 1.20, 2.01 & some other picks - but JettMaxx wasn't online. He wanted to move to 1.04, and didn't offer quite enough to get that done the first time, since I felt I could leverage the Sanchez hype.

3. The third spot was the pick that was to be the #1 RB off the board. I feel that teams would want to take that guy, and to get an extra pick there would be nice. I almost didn't deal, since it was Arizona, and I wanted Moreno to slide. We have enough ammo now to help the OL, DL, address RB, & grab a few more guys, plus have picks next year.

"I love it when a plan comes together."

I think there are about 20 NFL teams that could seriously use your services in the War Room on Saturday. Great Job, I think you have set up the franchise well, now you have to actually pick the right guys with all those picks.

Steve, I like the moves, mostly because they make this fun. I do disagree that they need a QB though. In past years, it would be easy to say they can go with Hass for another year or 2 and develop a 2nd or 3rd rounder. There is not a 2nd or 3rd rounder this year at all. I would not be surprised at all if they took Sanchez at 4.

1.18 Denver selects Connor Barwin, DE/OLB Cincinnati

:goodposting:

This may seem early but Barwin is the type of player who should fit right in Denver's rebuilding plan. He can play DE in the 4-3 and OLB in the 3-4 and is versatile enough to add his services to special packages on offense as a TE. His skills set remind me of Mike Vrabel. He was a tight end until his senior year when he switched to DE for the Bearcats so he is still raw. However, any of the DEs who are moving to OLB will have to refine their game and I like Barwin's potential more than any of the other hybrid players on the board.

I would do that in a heartbeat, but that's just me.Reading between the lines, I think this year (and maybe in years beyond) the FO is looking to add as many quatilty players that they can. Moving up would lessen that, even for a player like Matt Stafford. The Jags have acknowledged that there are a ton of holes on this team that need to be quickly filled.

That was covered in the Lions deal - we would've gotten Stanton with the picks. I figure if the Millen-era "braintrust" thinks he suck, except Mike Martz thinks he's good, that's a pretty good sign.Next year's draft should be much deeper at QB, which is why I aimed for some extra ammo next year so that they could move around if needed - wanted to try and match needs to when they will need things. Semi-seriously, I'm NOT taking a QB in round 1 and jinxing things. A round 1 QB for Seattle (McGwire, Mirer, Stouffer) = kiss of death. Much better to grab an UDFA (Zorn, Kreig, Kitna) or trade for a semi-developed guy (Hasselbeck) you like.

With the 19th pick of the 2009 NFL Draft, the Tampa Bay Bucs select Peria Jerry, DT, Mississippi

The Bucs have a big need on the DL and big Jerry will fill a hole. I have seen Freeman slated here in many mocks, even after they signed Leftwich, but I did not really consider him at all.

I sent a PM to Jetmaxx right after the Tampa pick....if he's not back in 15 minutes, does someone want to make the pick for Detroit? I think they can go a number of directions here.

Buffaloes:

I'm going to be heading out shortly on my way home. I'd like to PM you my list. Technically, my hour wouldn't be up until after the 7pm deadline, but I'd rather keep it moving.

That okay?
