Confirmed. The Eagles select: Cedric Peerman RB VirginiaThe last RB on the board I felt comfortable taking. There were a few teams that needed RB's ahead of us, so thought it wise to get the guy I wanted sooner rather than later.

I was certain Detroit would not take my player. Now I am rattled.

Never mind, but I like the pick for them. 3.19 Green Bay (From NY Jets) - Cody Brown, OLB UCONN. Has Pass rush skills to help out as a situational player immediately. His college coach loved his work ethic. His combine # compare with the OLBs taken in the first round. Plus, he was productive in college in a major conference. Needs work to learn how to drop in coverage, but this is a pick that can learn for a couple of years before needing to play full time. Will be the 4th OLB after Kampman, Chiller, and Popinga. To talented to pass up at this spot, and fills a long term need for GB. Picks so far1.09 - Michael Oher, OT Mississippi2.09 - Ron Brace, DT Boston College3.09 - Jarious Byrd, CB Oregon3.19 - Cody Brown, OLB UCONN

3.20 Denver selects Antoine Caldwell, C Alabama

Caldwell can provide depth to the interior line and then step into the starting center role if Casey Wiegmann retires in a year or two.

Denver picks so far:

1.12 Tyson Jackson, DE LSU

1.18 Connor Barwin, DE/OLB Cincinnati

2.16 Coye Francies, CB San Jose State

3.12 Rashad Johnson, S Alabama

3.18 Antoine Caldwell, C Alabama

3.21 The Detroit Lions select Chase Coffman, TE Missouri

When I traded down I hoped that I could still get either Coffman or Caldwell. This team needs a difference maker at TE and I think Coffman could provide that. I'm certain that Coffman will mature into a decent blocker with his bloodlines, but ultimately his greatest value will be as nice #2 weapon for many years for whomever becomes the franchise QB.

2009 Detroit Lions Draft:

1.01 Eugene Monroe, OT Virginia

1.20 Larry English, DE/OLB Northern Illinois

2.01 Jarron Gilbert, DE San Jose State

3.01 Fili Moala, DT USC

3.21 Chase Coffman, TE Missouri

Also added selection 5.05 in this draft.

pick and write up made via PM by stevegamer:

3.22 - Jarrett Dillard, Rice

I wanted to go defense, but there are no 4-3 DE's worthy of this pick, and there are a few LB's & Safeties I like, one of which should slip to 4.05.

So we'll take a guy I can't believe this guy is still on the board. He doesn't have raw straight line speed, but is very quick & sneaky fast - which is enough for the NFL level. He's small, but jumps very well, has sticky hands, and his routes & breaks are possibly the best in this class. Even with the signing of Houshmandzadeh, Seattle needs wide receivers - some of the young guys have lots of questions and I expect him to develop into at least one ofthe elite slot WR's int he NFL, but he could be more.

Seattle draft so far:

1.22 Eben Britton, T

2.05 Donald Brown, RB

3.03 James Casey, Football Player

3.04 Stephen McGee, QB

3.22 Jarrett Dillard, WR

4.05

plus an extra 2010 2nd (Jags), 3rd (Texans) & 4th (Jets).

2.23 - The Miami Dolphins select... Marcus Freeman - LB - Ohio St.

He's a versatile guy and can replace the serviceable Ayodele on the inside.

The Ravens will utilize their 2009 3.24 draft slot to select

WR Austin Collie, BYU

Credentials: Collie led the nation in total receiving yards with 1,538 and receiving yards per game with an average of 118.31 as a junior. He had 106 receptions and 15 touchdowns.

He averaged 162.46 yards per game to rank 12th in the nation while helping BYU to a 10-3 record and No. 16 ranking in the final BCS standings.

Collie tied the NCAA record in 2008 with 11 consecutive games of 100 or more receiving yards. He was selected as a second-team AP All-American.

Needs: He needs to improve his blocking techniques, and needs to improve his quickness off the line at the snap. He also needs to add some bulk and strength, so as to make the transition from NCAA to NFL - since he is skipping his senior year of eligibility.

The plan is to utilize him as the Ravens replacement for Derrick Mason who is nearing the end of a very productive NFL career. Putting Collie opposite Braylon Edwards whom the Ravens obtained from Cleveand at/near the start of the draft will give Joe Flacco a tremendous assortment of offensive options for many seasons to come.

 I was hoping he'd fall much farther than this.

Wow, it looks like a whole lot of the LB's I liked started to go - and fast.

Still, I'm glad I got Dillard, I doubt he would've been there in round 4. Seahawks will be likely looking defense the rest of the draft.

I will be ready for a 4th round pick later today, if we keep going - which it sounds like we will.

3:26 - The Atlanta Falcons select; Jason Williams LB – Western Illinois

Williams is a small school prospect who started to generate a lot of interest in NFL teams after running in the 4.4’s during post-season workouts at 6’1 241. He finished 4th in the Buck Buchanan Award voting in 2008 (the Falcons selected 2007 winner Kroy Biermann last year). He projects to a 4-3 WLB and has extremely intriguing physical tools.

The step up in competition probably means he’ll be mostly a special teamer in 2009, but his upside is significant and he can learn his craft under Mike Peterson who was brought in as a short term solution.

Falcons 2009 Draft

1:24 - Evander Hood; DT - Missouri

2:55 - Traded For Tony Gonzalez

3:90 - Jason Williams; LB - Western Illinois

Nice pick. I really liked him - I would've taken him over the other guys who've went recently.I clearly should've gone LB above - since I sent the PM for my pick, 4 LB's I wanted at 4.05 have disappeared - 2 went before I picked, but had I been here to make it, I might have done it differently.

Cowboys like Williams too. Nice pick. This kid's stock is really rising.

3.27 Indianapolis selects Ricky Jean-Francois, DT LSUAnother big guy for the interior DL
He was one of my other options before deciding on Magee.
I almost took him at 3.19 for the Packers. I think he could be a good option at DE in a 3-4 also. Great talent, but with some guys, there is always something in the way. He had academic cheating a couple of years ago, and injury last year, and then passed on a year of eligibility to enter the draft. No one passes on a year of eligibility to be a 3rd round pick unless something else is wrong.

At 3.32, the Pittsburgh Steelers select:

Mike Mickens - CB - CIN

We lost McFadden to FA, and although there are pressing needs at DE/DT, CB has needs too (With only Deshea and Madison to back up Taylor/Gay)

Mickens steps right into the nickel formation, with the ability to start in a couple years after some grooming. To pick up a talent like Mickens in the 3rd is a treat (considering he was on my radar at 2.32).

The Steelers Draft so far:

1st (3.32) - Alex Mack - C - (CAL)

2nd (2.32) - TRADED to DAL (for a 2010 2nd and 4.01 [#101 overall])

3rd (3.32) - Mike Mickens - CB - (CIN)

"I think Carson's a much better quarterback than I am." - Ben Roethlisberger

When and where did Big Ben make this statement?

1.6. Andre Smith OT

2.6. James Laurinitis LB

3.6. Jonathan Luigs C/G

3.34. Macho Harris CB

I like it so far, value meeting need just about everywhere.

"I think Carson's a much better quarterback than I am....however these two Super Bowl rings have informed me otherwise." - Ben Roethlisberger

Its all about context
