49ers and Redskins bringing in Josh Johnson? (1 Viewer)

Josh Johnson is one of those guys who I had in a class with Matt Flynn last season. He was a kid who showed some promise but had a player in front of him that the franchise was built or building around. He didn't have a shot at unseating Freeman simply because of Freeman's draft status, salary, but most importantly ability. But that isn't to say he wouldn't be able to keep Kaepernick or Grossman on the bench. I saw two article about him today that stated the 49ers and Redskins were interested in signing him.

It's pretty much a given the RG3 is going to Washington now. Could a signing like this make it feasible to sit RG3 down for a while to get him up to speed? It would make sense. Johnson has talent.

In San Fran the situation is a lot more cut and dried. He could go in there, Alex Smith may or may not be resigned. He could compete with Kaepernick who by all account is very raw.

Thoughts? Anyone else sick of discussing Manning, Tebow, and the Saints?

Thought Alex Smith resigned with SF.

Johnson's going to begin 2012 as a backup. I don't know what he's shown that'd make him more desirable than someone like Dennis Dixon (or even Vince Young)

Johnson has no more talent than Rex Grossman, who was signed by the Skins a short while ago. Neither one of them is (or will be) there to start til Griffin is ready.
