49ers at Falcons (1 Viewer)

I'm seeing 3 and 3.5 - sounds about right.Got to hope CK can be rattled with so much on the line. He's been solid though - should be a good game.

NFC West rivalry renewed. If the 49ers lose, they turn into the Eagles of the 2010s. If the Falcons lose they turn into... well the Falcons.

Last time they met in the playoffs, Steve Young threw 1td to 3ints with Garrison Hearst getting injured and out of the game early. I hated that dirty bird crap then, and want revenge. Elvis has left the building, and the 49ers shove the California trophy up Glanville's ### this weekend. :boxing:

Feels like Atlanta isn't getting enough respect.
That's because they're not. They almost blew it against Seattle. I am still skeptical. I think the Niners D will destroy Ryan. Turner and Rodgers won't be able to run on Willis and Bowman.

Seattle's D is great, but I don't think the Falcons have truly seen a top D like SF's. They will have Jones and White on lockdown, so unless Turner can have a 100+ yard/1 TD game, I don'tsee how the Falcons will remain in it. What they do with Gonzo may be the wildcard.

This is all really stupid. Everyone in the world was picking Seattle to win the game. In fact I read many "SEA should roll" messages in the game thread. So ATL wins the game, but still doesn't get any credit? How does that makes sense?

Bush?We can say they won't be able to run...but they were not supposed to be able to run on Seattle either. And GB was running the ball pretty well (before McCarthy went pass happy in the 3rd quarter).

Roddy and Julio will have an easier time against the SF cornerbacks than they had with SEA. Rogers and Brown are 6'0, and 5'10 respectively.

Sherman is 6'3, and Browner is 6'4.

Yeah...the key is up front. If SF can put pressure on Ryan without having to blitz (something Seattle was not able to do in the first half at all)...they should be able to put up enough points to keep up.Could just be an all out track meet.

Any recent history on this matchup? I am pretty psyched to see it vs the other potential matchups, which we've seen already this year (at least once).

Plus Atlanta was also the favorite in the game.

ATL was a 2.5 point favorite.

No shame in saying Seattle has a better secondary than SF, but SF also has an all pro safety and three above average corners. SF might be able to scheme to help out the secondary more because they generate pass rush and can still stop the run out of their nickel package (if the smiths are healthy, which they may not be). Should be a good game. Playing Seattle will have been excellent preparation for SF.

Ultimately I agree. The name of the game is pressure. Seattle didn't sack Ryan once I don't think. I'm leaning towards a SF victory, but I definitely think it will be close.

Matty Ice may have a hard time getting the ball to them from his back though....Ultimately, should be a good game. Atlanta did a good job against the SEA run game. This game is about Ryan vs. Kaep. Who will make fewer mistakes? Matty made some bad plays under duress against SEA. Kaep had the pick 6 on an ill-advised throw. Niners have the better D. I think they get a couple big T.O.s and thats the difference.

I would've rather had the Seahawks at home. I dont know why so many people seem to prefer this matchup. Atlanta is a good team and I worry about the whole west coast team travelling east thing.

Because they almost blew it. Up 20-0 at halftime and needing a last second FG after two "shouldn't happen" completions. SF didn't buckle and let GB almost catch up, ATL came out of that game feeling lucky to win after completely dominating the first half in just about every aspect. That takes away some credit.

Since when is Seattle not a top D?
Since Chris Clemons blew out his knee.
Sure...it hurt...still a very good defense and to act as if they are not a top D and are that much worse than SF's D is not quite true at all.

Yes, it is. Just like when the SF D was much different without Justin Smith, the Seattle D (under the no-pressure-on-the-QB tutelage of Gus Bradley) without Clemons was completely unable to get any pressure on Ryan. Teams have to account for him and he either beats that extra attention or lets someone else be the beneficiary of it, because Bradley ain't figuring out a way to get to him with a scheme. So Seattle might be a top D in theory, without QB pressure they are not anywhere near what SF's D is going to bring. No secondary, no matter how good, is going to be able to cover top WRs when the QB has 7 seconds to throw it every down.

I agree. The Seahawks are charmin soft outside Seattle, and it would have been nice to humble them after their egregious trash talking late in the year. The main thing I worry about is Kaep with a loud away crowd, and calling the plays in time. That will be a factor this game. Also, although I love watching him play, Kaep is still a ? and the only WR on our roster that seems capable of catching his fastball s is 15. What happens if Crabtree is shutdown? That hasn't really happened yet.

Man I hated Chandler and Jamal and those birds. Great posting.Reminds me of the old TSN boards  ...and no, the Falcons aren't getting enough respect right now. Seattle is/was a very solid team.

I was in the boat of wanting SEA at home.I think the coaching staff has handled long team travel pretty good this year. That's the least of my worries. I'm more worried about their awesome WR tandem against our CBs.

I think the 49ers are to strong on both lines for the Falcons to handle. Once they start getting pressure on Ryan he will fold up. 35-13 49ers
