49'ers vs Chiefs Question (1 Viewer)

Just looking at matchups for today, and the 49'er Chiefs game struck me as odd. Eveywhere I look, 49'ers Def is ranked above KC's even though KC has out performed SF in nearly every category. I know they played in a rainstorm and the Browns, but SF has given up double points, has 0 TD's, and has gotten only 1 turnover. Convince me SF deserves to be higher, cause I don't see it despite competition level.

Chiefs offense is horrible, last week the 49ers played the Saints tough. I would throw out week 1 for the 49ers because their offense constantly turned the ball over in the redzone. If 49ers can shutdown the special teams of the Chiefs they should be able to control this game and force Cassel to throw which will be a recipe for turnovers.

Glad I don't have to pick one! I thought SF would be a nice, late, Def pick, but they just haven't performed. It's hard to take the turnovers out of equation unless there has been a drastic turn of events. I still saw delay and other penalties that are going to put there O in bad positions which lead to turovers. KC's special teams, and D-backs speed, should give them a bump. I agree SF has a chance to win because of KC's horrid O, but I bet KC outscores SF Def unless someone gets a ungodly bonus for points against.

The 49ers will always have some random game where they get blown up, like last year vs Atlanta and the first week this year. Other than that random event, they tend to play up to their opponent (if a good opponent, think NO this year, MIN and IND last year), I think SF's defense will match up well against KC, and they should do pretty well.

I think they are still a good team this year (other than the first week), and they should be expected to do well vs below average teams.

Should be an interesting game to watch. Playing in KC, I still think with points for TO's, sacks, and D/ST TD's, that KC D may outscore SF's D, but the team lose the game. Maybe 20-17, Niners.

Good luck in all your games today everybody.

Way off on score and who would win, but definately right about KC Def. Maybe how they played against SD was no fluke. What about year outlook? Possible top ten finish for Def that went undrafted and are still on waiver wire in most leauges? Looked at CBS, they are owned in only 29% of leagues! They definately have some favorable matchups, especially if you're going Def bye committee; Oak twice, Buf, Jax, Az, Sea, StL, are 7 weeks of great matchups. Takes care of half the remaining year.

They have a laughable schedule, a BUNCH of playmakers and a top 3-5 return game. Pick'em up.
because I am still carrying Stafford, I only have room for 1 defense. If I grab the Chiefs (or some other team), I will have to drop the 49'ers D that I drafted in the 11th round.

Shouldn't matter where you draft a player, if they are no longer worth a roster spot, or a better option is available, you have to cut bait. You might be more patient with a first 5 or 6 rounders, they were projected by you as your starters, but an 11th, see ya. KC may not set the world on fire every week, but as of now, they are a top 5 Def in most formats, with a great schedule, and SF is dead last in most.

Lesson: Never fall in love with a draft or player! The waiver wire lets you improve your team, go improve it.

Note to Keith1: Don't know how new you are to FF, but if you find a player isn't living up to expectations, you can also trade them. Don't think you'll get anything out of SF Def, but you can sometimes trade under performers to another team who will think they are getting a deal due to name recognition, (Calvin Johnson for example), or just team loyalty. A owner may love the Jets, you have Greene who has definately no lit it up. Make the guy an offer, you might be surprised. One man's garbage is another man's treasure.

I am just using Johnson and Greene for examples, not advicating trading them.
