50 shades did $47 million opening weekend, It seems a LOT of women have no issue with a Billionaire grabbing some chick by the p####.... (1 Viewer)

So if this Grey guy was POTUS, the movie wouldn't have made $50MM opening weekend?

Are we SURE we want to take that stance? 

 
I still maintain Trump wasn't describing sexual assault on that tape.  He was saying because he's a famous, rich, powerful man, women flock to him and let him dominate them.  If Trudeau said this, liberal women everywhere would be swooning about what an alpha he is, and conservative women would be calling him disgusting.

Of course not.  It's just an illustration that what you do and say matters even if it happened prior to the actual election.  It's a spectrum.  Could be what he says (such as above) or, perhaps, attending a KKK rally, to actually doing something offensive or illegal.  To ignore any of it "because he wasn't President" yet is silly.

To be clear, of all the reasons he shouldn't be our President, that tape and that statement are ridiculously low on the list of reasons for me.  And I know this whole thread is a fishing attempt, but since I've already bitten, to equate the movie to a similar thing that our President said is nonsense.  Our POTUS should be held to a much higher standard.

Curious, what if the statement was "I ####### hate all black people and Jews"?  Same thing, said in a locker room.  Still doesn't matter because he wasn't President at the time?  Do you think it would be as inconsequential?

The funny thing here to me is I'd bet my life that Bill Clinton has said way worse things way more times about way more women over his lifetime. And yet most of the guys that are complaining about Trump saying it voted for Clinton. Twice

Right, but he did say "just grab them by the #####". 

It's equally offensive and it's offensive in regards to over 50% of the population of the world.

Does he really do that?  Who knows, probably not.  But combined with stories of him walking in on beauty pageant contestants while they're changing just because it's his contest means that he lies somewhere in between completely innocent words and actually grabbing every woman he sees by the #####. 

And back to the premise of this thread, there are plenty of things that I find acceptable by most people that I wouldn't find acceptable from the President.  It's a different standard to be held to.  You don't have to feel the same way.

Going to see a movie doesn't equal "endorsing" every action in the movie.  This was stupid when Trump supporters said it months ago.  Congrats on recycling stale garbage, Trump-con.

Right, and only a misogynist would say "just grab them by the #####".  Which is why he's been labeled as such for good reason.  That's not "locker room" talk.  I'd be most guys here who are fathers and husbands don't think about women that way nor say those kinds of things even behind closed doors.

That last Jurassic Park movie did huge business, but I doubt many viewers would want to have the experience of running for their lives while a T-Rex eats their friend. 

That last WW2 movie did huge business, but I doubt many viewers would want to have the experience of running for their lives while a NAZI shoots their friend. 

That last horror movie did huge business, but I doubt many viewers would want to have the experience of running for their lives while a masked sociopath stabs their friend.

I love how that quote is always edited so that the part where he says that they let you grab them by the p is always left out. They make it sound like Trump just walks down 5th avenue in NY grabbing whatever chick he wants by the p and saying "you know you wanted that- I am Trump"
