no, although i am in that format and rodgers went 2, and Brady and Brees were also taken in the first round (4 and 5 i think). i think that is nuts, but was happy to get rice at 3 and the guy in the 6 hole got a gift getting mccoy. In leagues that give 6 pts for passing, receiving and rushing TDs (1pt for 20 yds passing, 10 yds rush, 10 yds rec), should Rodgers, Brady and Brees go 1, 2, 3 OVERALL?
personally i spent a lot of time mocking every which way from the 3rd spot and tried some runs taking rodgers. i could never do as well based on my projections taking rodgers first given scarcity at other positions and being able to piece together some good qbs later in the draft. This has been debated a bunch here, and there seems to be no consensus. One side asserts that the overall increased fantasy points makes the QBs more valuable. The other side (and the one to which I ascribe) holds that a rising tide raises all ships. That is, the difference between the elite QB and the average starting QB does not change all that much when TDs are all worth 6. For instance, say Brees has 40 TDs and Romo has 30. In the 4 pt per TD instance, the difference would be 40 pts, and in the 6 pts per TD case, the difference would be 60 pts. So, the value of the elite QB will be slightly greater, but it's not an overwhelming amount. I guess I'd hedge a bit and say that the QB has a small increase in value relative to other positions, but not as much as is widely believed. Certainly not enough to justify the first three picks being QBs.
Is this PPR? Normally in PPR I'd say no but I'm in a league that is similar to your scoring but QBs ALSO get .5 per Completion and we also get 1PPR.I'm thinking of trying to get an elite QB in 1st (which I've never done)this year as QBs score so much in this format. I can then load up on WR/TE who will outperform most RBs. (I guess I'm going to try upside down strategy this year and see how it goes)In leagues that give 6 pts for passing, receiving and rushing TDs (1pt for 20 yds passing, 10 yds rush, 10 yds rec), should Rodgers, Brady and Brees go 1, 2, 3 OVERALL?
A lot should depend on your exact draft slot and what the other drafters do. If you're drafting late in the first round and 4+ QBs are already gone, I'm not sure the payoff is there to go QB. You're basically conceding weakness at QB relative to 4-5 or so other teams. Of course, if you are late 1st and can get a top 3 QB, then I think it can be a fantastic move.As to upside-down drafting, by all means give it a shot, in particular if you don't like what RBs are presented to you in the early rounds. On the other hand, just like you shouldn't force a RB pick, my advice is not to force a WR/TE pick either.Basically, if you're getting the impression that it's a good idea to not try to preordain your draft strategy, but rather be open to multiple possible paths, then I think I'll have made my point.I'm thinking of trying to get an elite QB in 1st (which I've never done)this year as QBs score so much in this format. My leagues is similar to yours except all td's over 40 yds 9 pts I'm draftin #6 if Rogers there I'm taking him!Is this PPR? I agree with QB in the first with this format, especially one of the top 3. I would even include the likes of Stafford and Cam in the notion of using a first round pick on them with this scoring format.I joined up for a league with some friends of mine, and their scoring is 6 points per TD and 1 point per 10 yards FOR ALL POSITIONS. Terrible scoring decision, but obviously in that format the top QBs have to go in the top of the first, I would assume.
I play in a 12-man 6pt TD format, 1pt per 20yds passing and 1pt per 10 rush/receive and I've changed my mind who to draft at #11 a million times.Assuming the Big 3 RBs, Big 3 RBs, CJ2f, DMAC, and Calvin are of the board are you forced to go Stafford to keep pace? Take the next RB who is Forte? And even then that's the 10th pick, what about after that? Go with Murray with Dallas OL in shambles? Or just go in another direction and pray Julio will continue to beast?I've changed my mind so many times it's giving me a headache now.I agree with QB in the first with this format, especially one of the top 3. Think you meant top 3 RB's and top 3 QB's. Anyway, I traded out of #11 when offered the 5th spot for that very reason. If I thought DMC would be there I would have kept it. Hated the 2nd tier RB's, so was leaning strongly to a Julio/Stafford start. Thought it was a slight reach for both though, and when I could get a guaranteed Rodgers/Brady or Calvin I took it. RB's will fall to me in the next few rounds. It's a tough slot, have to be bold on not worry about ADP here.
