8 more weeks until Bears @ Patriots (1 Viewer)

No. In the NFC I think the Eagles will give the Bears a run for their money, and Denver just owned the Pats a week ago.

Way too early to make this call. The NFL season is long and teams that look like world-beaters on Week 4 are sometimes struggling by season's end.

Would this be the consensus of the Shark Pool at the quarter pole of the season?
I'd like to think so, but at this point the Ravens, Colts and Broncos should all be considered as having a better shot at the AFC championship than NE. However, if Jackson emerges across from Doug Gabriel, all bets are off.

And possibly SD, Cinci, and Jax. Bottom line, there's way too many good teams in the AFC to call anyone an outright favorite at this point.

What do you mean way too early?People make super bowl picks before the season starts.I'm just asking what people think 4 games in.We probably will ask this again several more times and at the end of the regular season too.

I've been trying to process the Seahawks thrashing by the Bears, and here's what I've come up with. The Seahawks are an aggresive D like the Eagles or Bengals. This enabled a lot of intermediate route success on the part of Grossman. The teams that have the best shot to beat them will have a conservative game plan. The Vikings came close with this approach. The running game is nothing to be afraid of, so a 4-2 nickle with occasional blitz packages is good on D. On O, you have to both be able to spread the field with 3-4 wides AND have an effective inside running game. Basically, the true elite teams of the NFL in this era (which excludes "showy" teams like the Colts and Bengals) are conservative in nature (Steelers, Patriots, Broncos, Panthers, Chargers, etc., etc.). In short, beating the bears requires smashmouth football. Advantage Bears.

No chance, neither is on the Browns' schedule. What is it now like 8 Super Bowl winners in a row have beaten the Brownies and then gone on to win the Super Bowl?

What they did last year with Orton at QB was amazing. Take that team, and add Grossman's numbers, they are scary. They were a playoff team with a stiff at QB. Probably a Super Bowl contender with a caretaker-type at QB. What are they with Grossman? He's looked fantastic.

No way are the Patriots the AFC favorite right now. Their defense has been leaky, and their offense has been inconsistent. Sure, they looked great yesterday, but let's not forget the loss the Broncos gave them last week.

All teams lose.Have you seen the Pats schedule? I picked them 12-4 pre-season and Cincy was one of the teams I thought they'd lose to.

I still see the Pats at 12-4, and hosting a 2-round playoff game at Gillette in January. Whether that makes them favorites or not remains to be seen, but they'll be right up there...

Back on track... the Bears/Patriots Week 12 game looks like a prime game to get moved to 8:30pm. Green Bay at Seattle, no. Just a thought... :tinfoilhat:

The best football in the NFC is being played by the Bears right now. Come week 17 when teams that are banged up now are healthy, and teams that are healthy now are banged up... who knows.

Still not sure who the best team in the AFC is right now. I was ready to proclaim the Chargers as #1. Maybe it really is Baltimore.
