NFFC Shark Pool Home Leagues! Let's Go - Draft Boards In 1st Post (2 Viewers)

First trade of the season boys and girls:

FarFromHome Soldiers gives:
Ladd Mcconkey
D'andre Swift

FBG Chaka gives:
Jonathan Taylor
Jerry Jeudy

Full context. For the first time in 30 years I fat finger drafted Ladd Mcconkey. It was a mistake. I didn't want that juju to start the season. I was all in on trading him for that reason. I desperately needed an upgrade at the RB position. I accomplished both objectives. This is a fair deal deal for both owners. In competitive leagues deals are always gonna be balanced. Pleasure to work with you Chaka.

Start trading boys

I honestly don't know. I was trying to make a Major League reference in regards to Jobu. Like it's bad juju to steal Jobu's rum. I felt like I stole his rum and I needed to fix it. Ha ha

Aside: I am surprised that Sleeper doesn’t have an extra pop up that says “you’re about to draft XXXX. Are you sure?”
When doing slow drafts and many are likely making picks on their phones, it’s probably pretty easy to accidentally hit the “draft” button when scrolling around your list of players.

Ya. I do know I was in bed and just kept thumb pounding draft Lamar in my que screen. Obviously Ladd was also in my que screen. Didn't feel good. It happened. Knew what I had do to move on. Main reason I made the trade was I that I wouldn't always look at Ladd on my roster and think of this moment. Ha ha. I'm happy. Onward to the championship

Agreed. Especially on the phone, those draft buttons are plenty and easy to touch. At least on the desktop, there is a cursor involved. Sleeper should change that detail on mobile at least.

See I thought you were referring to Juju Smith-Schuster, like Ladd was a one year wonder.

My trade thought process: I was very on the fence on this deal. So much so that I DM'd three other posters who I respect, and are not in the Home leagues, for advice. In 25-ish years here, that is the first time I have ever done that.

My RBs Before the Trade: J.Taylor (2.09), Kyren (3.04), Chuba (4.09), T.Tracy (7.04), Corum & Dowdle
My WRs Before the Trade: CeeDee (1.04), Jamo (5.04), Jeudy (6.09), Olave (8.09), Bateman & D.Thornton (Raiders)

I like Taylor a lot. On a bad team last year he put up 321 touches & 12 TDs (only 18 receptions), 4.9 yards per touch. He is an anchor RB even on a bad team. His downside is Steichen doesn't use him in the passing game (at least not yet) and, due to his high volume, he has missed more games since he entered the league (17 of 84) than Swift who entered the league 5 picks before Taylor in 2020 (11 of 84).

I wasn't thrilled with Jeudy as a pick but he was clearly the BPA and I needed WR help at that point. Last year he compiled the vast majority of his stats with Jameis at QB. In 7 games with Jameis was 69 targets, 49 receptions, 786 yards, 3 TDs. In 10 games with everyone else; 76 targets, 41 receptions, 443 yards, 1 TD. I think he'll be better than that this year but I don't see him matching his 2024 output.

Ladd is still a bit of a question mark for me. There is a real 'can he do it again?' and 'can he improve?' aspect to him. He is also on of the lowest volume passing games in the league (only one of eleven Greg Roman offenses has ever finished above 28th in pass attempts). But, Justin Herbert>>>>>>>>QB Cleveland and I thought I really needed help at WR far more than at RB.

Swift is the Wild Card here. For all I know Brian Robinson will be a Bear before I finish this post, or Swift will be a Commander. He has a reputation for not playing through pain but he has still played in 13, 13, 14, 16 & 17 games in his five seasons. When he was with Ben Johnson in Detroit he saw 70 targets and, despite everyone thinking the Bears would address the running game this off season, they haven't done it (yet). I think Swift is the guy in Chicago on what I think/hope/pray will be a much improved offense. Even on a bad offense last year he put up 295 touches, 1,345 yards with 6 TDs (42 receptions), 4.6 yards per touch.

My RBs After the Trade: Kyren (3.04), Chuba (4.09), Swift (5.01), T.Tracy (7.04), Corum & Dowdle
My WRs After the Trade: CeeDee (1.04), Ladd (3.01), Jamo (5.04), Olave (8.09), Bateman & D.Thornton (Raiders)

Unfortunately we are just using Sleeper as a 3rd party and have no sway with how they operate or how their site looks. Definitely wish we could pull more strings

I guess each of us could make this suggestion through their help system at Sleeper to see if that moves the needle.

Is there no administrative "undo" feature? As a commish on MFL I can easily undo draft selections if someone makes a mistake.

I just submitted the feature request through Sleeper.

Profile -> gear icon -> App & Support -> Chat with Support

In case you’d like to pile on this feature request.

That option is there, we just have it in our Rules that we will only change selections under "extraordinary circumstances" and a mis-click or user mistake with the queue or anything like that doesn't fall under that. We haven't rolled back any picks in the two years we've done this.

"Draft selections will almost never be changed. Extraordinary circumstances would need to take place in order for it to happen."

Pretty clear that there’s no takesies backsies

I think that's a terrible rule for exactly the reason we are talking here. The phone interface is small and it would be remarkably easy to mishit a pick.

Yeah, but the law of unintended consequences would have jerkfaces across the land (not here of course where we are all of the upmost moral character) doing takesees backsees by blaming the salt content of their fingers! Better solution is the

"you are about to draft Ladd McDonkey - are you double sure you want a possession WR on a team that wants to run the ball 78.6% of the time" button.

They should add that button to trades too. :)

New to sleeper. When is the 1st ww run? How do I bid?
Is there a way to view the draft?
First waiver run on 9/3. Pick the player then type in amount to bid. Click on the wheel in the top right hand corner of your sleeper league. A drop down menu does about 12 different things, one of which is the completed draft
