My trade thought process: I was very on the fence on this deal. So much so that I DM'd three other posters who I respect, and are not in the Home leagues, for advice. In 25-ish years here, that is the first time I have ever done that.
My RBs Before the Trade: J.Taylor (2.09), Kyren (3.04), Chuba (4.09), T.Tracy (7.04), Corum & Dowdle
My WRs Before the Trade: CeeDee (1.04), Jamo (5.04), Jeudy (6.09), Olave (8.09), Bateman & D.Thornton (Raiders)
I like Taylor a lot. On a bad team last year he put up 321 touches & 12 TDs (only 18 receptions), 4.9 yards per touch. He is an anchor RB even on a bad team. His downside is Steichen doesn't use him in the passing game (at least not yet) and, due to his high volume, he has missed more games since he entered the league (17 of 84) than Swift who entered the league 5 picks before Taylor in 2020 (11 of 84).
I wasn't thrilled with Jeudy as a pick but he was clearly the BPA and I needed WR help at that point. Last year he compiled the vast majority of his stats with Jameis at QB. In 7 games with Jameis was 69 targets, 49 receptions, 786 yards, 3 TDs. In 10 games with everyone else; 76 targets, 41 receptions, 443 yards, 1 TD. I think he'll be better than that this year but I don't see him matching his 2024 output.
Ladd is still a bit of a question mark for me. There is a real 'can he do it again?' and 'can he improve?' aspect to him. He is also on of the lowest volume passing games in the league (only one of eleven Greg Roman offenses has ever finished above 28th in pass attempts). But, Justin Herbert>>>>>>>>QB Cleveland and I thought I really needed help at WR far more than at RB.
Swift is the Wild Card here. For all I know Brian Robinson will be a Bear before I finish this post, or Swift will be a Commander. He has a reputation for not playing through pain but he has still played in 13, 13, 14, 16 & 17 games in his five seasons. When he was with Ben Johnson in Detroit he saw 70 targets and, despite everyone thinking the Bears would address the running game this off season, they haven't done it (yet). I think Swift is the guy in Chicago on what I think/hope/pray will be a much improved offense. Even on a bad offense last year he put up 295 touches, 1,345 yards with 6 TDs (42 receptions), 4.6 yards per touch.
