Sorry if this is a honda...didn't see it in search.

The Texans backfield is looking pretty crowded right now. I assume Green would be the starter, but Kubiak was all over the place with his RB's last year. What kind of value does everyone see A. Green having this year as a Texan? I think he's still got some gas left in the tank, but age, injury history, and a crowded backfield makes him lose appeal unless you can get great value for him. Thoughts??

I would think that if healthy his value remains about the same as what he did in GB last year. The tricky thing that could negatively impact him is IF Domanick Williams (Davis) gets healthy enough to play. The Texans OL has always been thought of as poor so I don't really see his numbers increasing much if any from last year.

The Texans OL is thought of as poor in pass protection. They've allowed DW(D) to put up good numbers when he played. I see Greens value slightly up from last year (primarily because I do not predict injuries). Is it likely that he'll miss a game or two? Quite possibly.

Here is the link houston offeseason with threads on the 1st message. Houston's backfiled was only crowded because there was no one clearly better than the pack. Green is the lead dog. http://forums.footballguys.com/forum/index...=302833&hl=

I don't see the backfield as being crowded at all. I see Green and a pile of garbage. Kubiak used so many backs because he was trying to find a decent one. Green will be the man there no doubt (unless they draft a RB in the 1st - which I doubt).

Last year the Texans had 13 rush td's and finished 21st in rushing yards and 19th on a ypc basis with literally the worst stable of RB's in the league (and one of the worst QB's). I'd like to see what they do at QB but at this point I'd put Green in the 20-23 range but will probably offer pretty good value next year. He is a good wr out of the backfield so it's possible that he puts up DD type numbers especially with Kubiak on board and his desire to run the ball.

gotta believe he'll be the #1 there.

provided he stays healthy and that line can block, he's a 1000 yard back. not that that's special anymore but he's gonna run hard and be a physical guy.

he doesn't have that same top-end burst he used to have. nor the explosiveness out of cuts that he once had but he's got a huge heart and he's willing.

he's OK catching balls out of the backfield. if Carr can lay them right in his lap on the move then he's fine. smart, knows how to set up his blocks. but if he has to go over his head, reach back, go low, basically if there is any variable.. he's gonna struggle. the Pack really cut down on the # of passes they ran to him as the years went on. mostly because he seemingly stiffened up when the ball was in the air. ;)

he also seemed to take a bit of time to pick up the zone blocking early on but smoothed that out as the season went on. he's said he's excited to return to the Sherman blocking scheme where he had a lot of success. if Houston has the guys to block it.. that could be a nice positive for him.

i'd give him a look as my RB3 for sure. i'm just not excited about their line or the offense in general.

We'll have to see where ADP puts him, but my gut says he'll be a great value play in 4th or later as a late pickup for RB2 or as a RB3. IF he stays healthy, I think he'll put up numbers somewhere in the 12-20 range of RB's.

FYI: Dayne has not yet been resigned. Lundy and Gado are the only other 2 backs on the team at the moment and I don't see either as a threat beyond the normal change of pace, refresher back role.

I thought they also had Chris Taylor??

Chrid Taylor was a undrafted rookie who was active for a handful of games and played (well in fact) in one game last year. He may have something, but had not given enough indicators to make a bet on that.
