My buddy and I are debating the legitimacy of the Jets keeping 4 QBs and putting one on the practice squad (be it either Clemons or Bollinger), esp considering the injury history of Pennington.
I know that there is a maximum of 8 players that can be placed on the practice squad and that these players do not suit up for, or travel to, games. They participate in practice and meetings the same as traditional players do. My question is concerning if they become available to other teams once placed on the practice squad. I seem to remember on more than one occasion a player from team X's practice squad being signed by team Y. If you put a player on the squad, to they become available similar to waivers? My friend would like to stash Clemons on the squad for a year and keep Brooks Bollinger as the 3rd, 'til Clemons can move into the 1 or 2 spot. Would this be a viable option for the Jets?
