I still see people defending the Pats actions in other threads and I'm curious as to how widespread that mindset is.You're staff now. Delete it if you want.

I think the punishment was incorrect. Lost draft picks can be replaced with FA acquisitions. In the NCAA you lose scholarships. The NFL equivalent of that is fining them a part of their salary cap. I'd say 10% over the next 2-3 years along with not being eligible for the playoffs during that time is apropos.

It hasn't even been 24 hours since Goddell announced his punishment. Cries of "move on" are a bit premature. I, like most other people will move on. In the meantime, people want to talk about it. Don't visit the SP for a while if you don't want to read about it.

I voted 7 on the first section. Clearly they were out of line, broke a rule, and were saddled with some pretty stuff penalties (league max financially.. 1st round pick will sting for years to come). but any one voting much higher than that is jjust letting their hatred of the Pats get in the way of rational thought.
Regarding the punishment. I think it's very fair. League Maximum Financially... targeted primarily at Belichick (who is likely the mastermind of the plan).... Hit the pats just hard enough (1st round draft pick) to sting for a couple years.... and hit Kraft with a firm slap on the wrist (quarter million bucks) just to make sure he's aware that next time he'll be held accountable too.

I'm heading down to the watering hole this Sunday for the express purpose of seeing how many drunk loudmouth Pats fans will turn out for the game. I might even bring the camcorder. I must admit I feel like a kid anticipating Christmas morning.
