Is he a free agent at the end of this year? Does he sign with a 4-3 team and come back as a de? Thinking about trading for him now and hoping he is a de next year...he appeared to be a fish out of water at OLB. As a Vikes fan I enjoyed not having to worry about him touching Favre...thoughts.

I think there is a chance Kampman plays DE next year. I don't see the Packers bringing him back next year, especially with his injury. Kampman has already said he doesn't like playing OLB and you are right...he looks out of place there. If you can get him for a relatively cheap price, I don't see why not. Just realize he may be slow to recover from his torn ACL.

Kampman is a FA at year end. Before his injury, most people expected GB to tag Kampman and ultimately trade him to a 4-3 team. Given his injury and the relatively high cost to tag him, I don't see how the Packers keep him next year. (unless he is a masochist and wants to stay in the 3-4 at a steep home town discount)

A few years ago when he was a restricted FA, he signed with the Vikings (ultimately the Packers matched the offer). Of course this is pure speculation.....but imagine a defensive line with Jared Allen, the Williams brothers, and Kampman....

Anyway, I fully expect him to sign with a 4-3 team. Biggest question is when will Kampman be healthy? Will he get some training camp time? Or will he basically be useless until week 4 or week 6?
