According to today’s polling the public wants Trump to run again and they plan to re-elect him if he does. (2 Viewers)

Ugh, can it not be Trump? Every day he was in office was like playing “Guess the Crisis,” and there were never any winners! I’m regretting my Biden vote, but not that badly! Just pick someone, Libertarian, Democrat, Republican, Martian, I don’t care, but not Trump! The guy single-handedly turned the most prestigious office in the nation into a gong show.

I get all this. I know November is going to be a red wave, known it for a long time. I know Biden is dreadfully unpopular and I think I know most of the reason why. None of that unduly bothers me. It’s politics; you win and you lose.

What bothers me is…Trump. I don’t understand why he is still the main Republican alternative. The guy committed treason against the country, he tried to overthrow our Democratic form of government. Why is he still a factor? Why isn’t he facing criminal charges, looking at jail time? This is what annoys me and scares me.
Maybe it's because he did neither of those things.

At the very least, he told a flat out falsehood for two months that caused a bunch of people to try and circumvent the process to certify a fair election.  He also actively tried to encourage his Vice President to do something which is unConstitutional, once again, attempting to circumvent the process to certify an elected President.

So he's either dishonest, stupid, or both.  And that's at the very least.....

After he sees what it can lead to...he continues to do it with zero F's to give.

It's really crazy town that he is the front runner.

It’s beyond that and you know it. Republicans, and a majority of Americans according to this poll, don’t just recognize Trump’s name. They LIKE him. They want him back. They seriously want him to be President again. That’s what gets me.
With all due respect, does this surprise you?

It's even crazier that a senile old man so out of touch was voted in and is now polling way worse because of the piss poor job he's doing.

This thread is awesome because no matter how much you want to dump on Trump, the facts and results of the poll are that Americans know Biden is worse.   So go ahead and keep pointing that out.

The but Biden contingent is interesting.  How mean…yeah, he has been a disappointment.  That does not make Trump good.  There are so many other possible Republican candidates that would all beat Biden.  So justifying Trump support by saying Biden is bad…seems odd.

Trump was the best thing that ever happened to Biden. Surprising that Republicans would want more of that.

I mean he still would be the favorite…but I would think he is the one R of the front running names being out there…that actually has a chance to lose.

There is just so much baggage.

Sorry maybe I am not explaining my issue clearly.

My point is I don't understand how people are signing up for more Trump. There are any number of candidates on the Republican side.

If this is the guy that ends up getting the nom can you see how that would be both puzzling and troubling?

On a Reddit conservative page that I follow, this came up and the vast majority of people did not want Trump to run again. DeSantis is the most mentioned for 2024.

I sincerely don't understand how anybody can look at the situation in Ukraine and say "Boy, I sure wish Trump was navigating this situation."  We'd all probably be dead by now, or at least be scouring the wasteland for Nuka Cola caps.

That said, apart from Ukraine (which counts for a lot), Biden has been significantly worse than I ever imagined he would be.  His floor was lower than I thought it was.
really like your post.  disagree on Trump's actions though.  we will never know though.

it's all good.

Man I sure hope not. It's not because he such a jerk its just he causes so much divisiveness even among conservatives.  I mean if it was between Trump and Biden or really anyone in the forefront of the dem party. Then it's Trump all day long. I would rather see DeSantis though.
me to.

The problem is the democrats don't have any.   If it's not biden it will be hillary.

I don't think @IvanKaramazov is suggesting that Trump would have been so tough on Putin that he would have started a nuclear war with Russia. I think the more realistic scenario is that Trump would have supplied military aid to Russia for its invasion of Ukraine and then, based on a questionable understanding of world geography, directed nukes at Berlin, New Hampshire, to settle a personal score with Angela Merkel.
woofta.  not even close to reality.  May I suggest:

water

sleep

shower

?

Again, remove the Democrats from this. I am talking about who is selected by the Republicans in the nom process.

If it were Trump that would be super depressing for a variety of reasons is my point.

I agree, but the truly amazing thing is, these people feel it was rigged but there is not a single shred of evidence that it was.
Polling doesn’t matter…yet, polling like this apparently means the election was rigged..

I'm sure the Biden will raise all sorts of dark Chinese  money to battle Trump.   And now that Russia is a vassel state  of Xi. China will control get all those Facebook accounts in putins pocket.

Xi can't let biden go down with less than proper funding.

If Trump wins the R nomination, I'm fairly confident he'd lose to Biden in a rematch. (He might not lose to another Dem if Biden retires.)

More interesting would be what happens if Trump runs but fails to win the R nomination? Suppose DeSantis wins it. Trump will hate DeSantis and might recommend that people write Trump's name in on the general-election ballot. Or stay home. Or vote for Biden. Trump could actually sink the Republican presidential chances deeper if he's not the nominee than if he is.

But again…blaming Democrats for support of Trump.   Combating crazy by going even crazier isn’t very logical.
It's better than stupid.   And dems have been  stupid.

Southern border (bidens fault) inflation (bidens fault) gas prices (bidens fault) Afghanistan (bidens fault)  crazy attacks on parents at school board meetings and calling them terrorists (bidens fault)

I know you wanna argue these.   But go argue with the American public. Not me.

You can be extremely  confident.   But picture Trump getting under his skin in a debate and biden goes Will Smith.

Id definitely argue things that aren’t true…but i guess they are true if you really want to believe.

They aren't lies if you believe them.

If people believe they are true, well go ask James Carville what will happen.

But I would argue that the parent teacher stuff is correct.   Go read @timschochet opinion on parents input in schools.   He wants children to be indoctrinated with whatever the teachers want.

That (in a general personification intellectual democrat way) attitude is why the working class is growing to hate dems.    #### you parents I know better.

Don't you all love it that the OP lists one and only one voluntary internet poll and acts as if it is proof of something?

Oh. They definitely will have to.  Thats why Im saying I think almost any other Republican would win.  Trump’s baggage would keep it in question.
If I’m the D’s, I may want to run against Trump and that baggage. Easier to campaign against the known.  That may be their saving grace, as long as they can deal with the economy.

So ignore half of the OP so you can take some sort of dig against republicans while the democrats do the exact same thing, except less popular?

If you care to be bothered to read his link, boy that seems to happen a lot around this place, the article list several polls telling the exact same story.

Sure…as a voter…Id much rather most other Republicans having a better chance to win than ever see him have even a slim chance ever again.

I am unaware of any Dem (or any politician) who has pulled Trump's act. There aren't any.

That is my point and I believe the crux of this thread: Why would he not be disqualified from the minds of voters?

I get people voting over any Republican over a Dem and vice versa. I am talking about it getting to that choice

Because the majority of voters do not see it like you do.  And by it I mean your first sentence. You're in the minority.

There is no one who has pulled his act. That is reality. People can warp it into something else but they would be wrong.

That this does not disqualify him as their choice to be the party nom is disturbing - this is opinion.

If Putin believes there is a chance his lap dog Trump can get elected again he could try to keep fighting in Ukraine until then knowing Trump could help divide NATO and the Allie’s once again. That in itself makes him asking for Putin to produce dirt on Hunter Biden even more disgusting if that’s possible.

I'll vote for Mickey Mouse before I vote for Trump or Biden.  I think people are flirting with the idea of Trump because they haven't heard or seen him in a while.  I still say that Trump won't be the Republican nominee, because when he does start speaking again people will remember all the negativity, narcissism, diarrhea of the mouth....

You really think Putin is going to keep fighting for the next 2 years on the almost ZERO chance Trump somehow wins the nom and gets elected?  He's already getting his ### kicked now, you think he's going to keep that up for 2 years?
