Add/Drop and Waiver Wire wonderment thread: Do you still own Domingo Santana? (1 Viewer)

Carlos Beltran is not in Monday's lineup. It's just a routine day off for Beltran, who is batting .298/.406/.653 with 13 homers and 32 RBI in 33 games this year for the Cardinals. Allen Craig will start in right field and bat cleanup against the visiting Cubs.
Yesterday it was Holliday, today Beltran.
so he's the super utility guy? giving everyone days off?

That is what I've read. I think during the playoffs last year they wanted to get his bat into the lineup and he played some second base too. I've read some that believe they may try to fit him in there but St. Louis has about 4 guys they think are capable ahead of Craig, for 2nd base....that's according to Matheny.

Craig is 4th OF/backup 1B for now. He's not in the 2B rotation and would probably be behind Carpenter in the 3B pecking order.

Will Desmond Jennings actually hit the DL for his injury?
no news on this so far today :wall:edit to add:Rays not expected to make any roster moved today, so they are apparently giving this one more day. I am waiting to see if by some miracle he is in the starting lineup this evening before benching him for the week. I am not sure what else you can do at this point.2nd edit:Jennings out of the lineup tonight
And now on the DL.

Xavier Avery worth a short term look in deep leagues? Looks like he'll see consistent playing time for a while with a few O's on the DL.

Bernadina or Andres Torres?
I'd give Bernadina a try......at least he'll play every day.
Torres is a switch hitter but LHB vs RHP has always been his stronger side. In a very smalll sample, he's doing better the other way this year. If he hits lefties enough to stay in the lineup, he'll do better than the Shark in the counting categories.Bernadina is going to sit against most LHP in favor of Nady, Tyler Moore, De Rosa or whoever.
Ended up going with Bernadina. I can handle the sitting v LHP since it's a daily league.

In a redraft would you drop Bryce Harper to pick up Allen Craig?
Depends on what your categorical needs areI would guess right now that ROSCraig better for HR and BAvgHarper better for R, RBI, SB
I'm in a points league. You get a point for everything you do. single = 1 point. Homer = 6 points (4 for each base you touch plus 1 for a run and 1 for a rbi).Does Berkman's return affect Craigs ABs?
So it's not simple a "redraft league" - It is a H2H points league1) You should keep Harper in your lineup - he will play everyday and likely generate more total points than Craig who does not (at least for now) play every day...........the exception would be if you could also set daily lineups late enough you could only play Craig when he is actually in the Cardinals lineup AND could sub in someone else when he doesn't start2) Yes Berkman back at 1B most days means fewer days Craig is in the lineup

Thanks Captain Hook! Appreciate everyone taking the time to answer my questions. Never really played my much fantasy bases before last year.

Well as the guy posted above looks like John Jay is going on the DL so that should give Craig more at bats for the next two weeks.

Espinosa has been hot the past week.
Pretty much coincided with the moment I dropped him
I dropped him Saturday. He's terrible, not sure why anyone would roster him right now in a redraft and I dropped him in a deep keeper. This is his last week, his best week of the year by far:
Code:
OPP AB R H HR RBI BB SB05/08	@PIT	4	0	0	0	0	0	005/09	@PIT	4	1	1	0	0	0	005/10	@PIT	4	0	1	0	0	0	005/11	@CIN	4	1	1	1	2	0	005/12	@CIN	3	1	2	1	1	1	205/13	@CIN	4	1	2	0	2	1	005/14	SD	4	0	1	0	0	0	0
8-27 2 HR 5 RBI 2 SBPrior to that he was hitting .190 with 1 HR and 2 RBI. I was thinking the next Dan Uggla, well not with this kind of start. I'd say wait another week and see if he can recover, but he's really WW fodder at this point.

That's 46/46 with 115 RBIs over a whole season

What is 1/2/.190 30GP over the whole season? Would you like to plug that in or just go with your one week sample?

Just doubled in another run on his first at bat. Guy is a machine.
Yes, he is a machine. Just tied it up at 5-5. Is 3 for 3 with 2 RBI's. He's on an amazing streak. Hope he never cools off.

You wait a week and he may not be there :shrug:He also may be dropped next week by me, but if you have room I would prefer to take a chance on him than whatever else is out there

:lmao: Sell high.

I can't understand why Maicer Izturis does not play every single day for the Angels. Callaspo is the better option? Aybar?

didn't want to start my own thread, but is there a consensus list somewhere for the best minor league prospects? We've got 3 farm team spots, and right now I've got Julio Teheran and Jurickson Profar....so I want to check those guys against a list and see who else is out there

Certainly if you google top 50 (or 100) MLB prospects 2012 you are going to get a motherload of hits. I think figuring out your 3rd guy depends on what you should target....so things like -- pts vs h2h league, how many keepers, where you are strong/weak, long term/short term prospect -- are all big factors, and I probably missed a few others. I'm sure if you list all the prospects that are rostered in your league people in here will be able to throw out some good names to grab. I think you're off to a good start though...

Is it safe to drop Cory Luebke? Read a couple of weeks ago that he was getting a second opinion and then they would decide if needed Tommy John surgery or just rest. Have not been able to find any updates since then.

No news is good news, but I still wouldn't keep him if there's anything with a pulse out there. I dumped him in all of my leagues, including my keep 25 dynasty league. Ligament damage in the elbow needs surgery, maybe not today but sometime it will - although it'd be best to just do it now many play the wait and see denial game (i.e. Scott Baker and Kyle Farnsworth a few months from now). The problem isn't going to fix itself and if the pitcher over compensates he'll injure something(s) else.

A little more information would be helpful but Will Myers, OF, KC would now be at the top of most listsESPN has several lists there some for free, some notYour Teheran and Profar are also at the top of most current lists

Good team and Good grab on getting Myers (should be up next year - might have some time this year)Can't really see whether you have a bench? or why two second basemenBUT you should get a 3b because Lawrie will miss a few games (they suspended him for four but he is appealing so don't know exactly when he will serve)

Thx. I bolded my starters for this week (using Kipnis as UTIL). Yeah, I know about Lawrie, so need to pick up a 3B...will likely cut one of the SP or possibly Rasmus for a 3B
