Adrian Peterson Status Updates (1 Viewer)

Nobody snagged him overnight on waivers. Surprising in a league of Titans fans and a league that seems to go nuts over every RB.  McNichols was claimed.  I grabbed him this morning in the first news of another ankle issue for Michael Thomas and then just after he was ruled out for the year.  Didn’t want to at first as im thin at WR and have a bunch of RBs rostered.  But with Barkley dinged and now Covid…Chuba maybe only worth it one more week (if that) and guys like Pollard and Javonte rostered but not very playable…happy to have him to see what he can do.

I bid all I had left on him (50%). Got him by a little bit.

This isn't toiling away in Washington or Detroit. This is a legitimate title shot and a chance to mentor younger legend (and keep his title hopes alive).

If you're one of the five best running backs ever and every time you walk off the field you got to look Derrick Henry in the eyes, you're leaving it all out on the field.
So we starting him this week?

This week is going to be tough with rapid turnaround. Going to be heavily TD dependent, IMO. Team total implied around 23.

I'd have to be fairly tight spot to start him.

Will be benching him for:

10T PPR: Elliott / Harris / Herbert, Claypool or Jeudy (FLX)
12T PPR: Mixon / Herbert Claypool or Jeudy (FLX)

Got him in 3/4 leagues. Low of 26% & high of 47% (my Derek Henry team).

FBG has me starting him in 2/3 leagues at flex.

ADRIAN PETERSON RB, TENNESSEE TITANS

Titans OC Todd Downing said he would be "doing the offense a disservice" if he "jerked the wheel" on their run-first identity without Derrick Henry (foot surgery).

Downing may want to continue running the ball at the league's second-highest rate in neutral game script without Henry, but opposing offenses could force his hand to be more balanced through the air (or lean heavily on Ryan Tannehill). Jeremy McNichols remains a viable RB2/3 in PPR leagues in the short-term since the Rams will undoubtedly threaten Tennessee's secondary Sunday night, but 36-year-old Peterson should be leaned on beyond that given the team's extremely soft schedule from Week 10 on. Either way, A.J. Brown's ceiling was elevated the moment Henry went down.

I'm still noticing Adrian Peterson's status as NA or Not Available / Inactive. That being said, someone who did pick him on on waivers dropped him the next the day. Not he's available and I would love to scoop in and grab him at waiver wire #10 but don't think it's realistic. Helps to have his status read NA or Inactive. It may scare off enough.

I did manage to pick him up in another league with FAB bids. Funny how McNichols went for a lot more. I pulled every single one of my McNichol bids because frankly I'm betting he doesn't do too much. He may get you 8-10 points on average from here on out. Peterson more like 6-16 and capable of multiple TD games at the goal line. Edit: I have Henry in this league sitting in my IR for now.

When might TEN determine if Adrian will be active or not for this week? By Friday afternoon?

I could never figure out why the Ravens didn’t seem to want this guy.  He seemed like a better option than some/all of the guys they grabbed

Perhaps ADP's role will grow as the season goes on, but I'm not expecting more than 5-10 carries this week.

I expect McNichols to be the featured back, at least initially.

My favorite All Day moment is still the Sean Payton death stare

That said, the dude's a genetic freak who is obsessed with fitness and conditioning. It's a perfect combination to stay productive even at his age. He'll rip off one or two 100 yard games by end of the year.

The enthusiasm is hilarious. He’s going to top out at 10-12 touches max and then he’ll get injured. I can’t imaging starting him in a PPR league this week. 5 of my 9 FFPC leagues had bids of over 500$ of a 1000$ budget. 😂😂

I feel similar about his workload and people being overly enthused. I'd be willing to bet if I went through my leagues I'd see a healthy amount of people who own Odell being same people who bid heavily on Peterson.  Big name hunting.

The bidding is way higher then I'd ever go for him but in some cases, even if he is a 10-12 touch guy,   I find it defensible. Depending on where your team is in the standings, how crucial you H2H game and your teams RB needs it's a 12 week regular season so time is short. If teams met some or most of that criteria I would not ridicule the move. If you are dropping several hundred with no need, now that's something else.

at this point in the season you go after any RB that is healthy and in line for work….

all depends on your team situation obviously, I saved my faab for this exact thing as I have RB byes on 11 and 13 and just so happens those are the weeks that Tenn should have positive game scripts hence I can specifically roll AP, I would think RB2ish numbers is not out of the realm for him even at this age

I can’t believe this guy is going unclaimed in waivers in some leagues based on what’s being said here. I mean, the guy might not be a world beater but he’ll sure produce other clowns that are held out as viable RB options like Gaskin.

With all the FAAB plays so far this year, this will end being a dud. He is more likely to pull a hammy and get you less than 4 points. there has to be better out there. Ty Johnson is who I was picking up this week. Ahmed also seems to have a better road to 10 points. Just my 2 cents.

I understand desperation as much as I understand disappointment.

Henry needed an outrages amount of carries to be effective. How many touches do you think an off the streets RB can handle?

I hope we all revisit this in a few weeks.

We will revisit this, and laugh at your bad take.

When you get to play FFPC and there is literally nothing on the waivers come back and talk to me then 🤷‍♂️

I can understand and get behind people predicting Peterson will do nothing. But this is the second time I’ve seen he’ll get injured immediately. Other than a few major injuries. This guy has been pretty resilient when it comes to injuries. And was just playing plenty just last year.

He would have played even more last year but Swift was too good to keep on the bench.

I think I’m rolling Hyde over him, and I hope for a bunch of receptions in a blowout against the Bills…but I considered AP. Just hard to doubt him after the way he’s looked in his limited stints the past few years. He’s still got the juice when he actually gets touches.

Grappling with the same two options.

Hyde should get the majority of the touches in a blowout. Had 6 receptions last week. I'd expect a ton of garbage time against the Bills.

I'd think McNichols gets the garbage touches in what could be another blowout.

Don't like this matchup at all. Rams have had a bunch of cupcakes lately while TN has been gutting out these close victories. Could see Rams pumped up for this one while TN a bit out of gas and minus D. Henry.

I dropped 90% of my FAAB on FFPC for ADP… all my players injured and zero on the wire… get him or my season was toast… $900 well spent

Still don’t know how some people handle so many teams, one or two is about all I can handle 🤣🤣🤣
A buddy of mine in my league were so antsy to draft this year that we created a 12 team league and both have 6 teams in it. Top 3 teams pay out. Last place pays double. No trading between own teams. It’s a chore but it’s kind of a fun new fantasy wrinkle for me this year.

But other than that I really only have two long-standing teams and agree with you.

And now back to your regularly scheduled AP discussion.

Was able to get him in the 2nd round of waivers somehow. Not expecting much this week or against the Saints rush defense, but after that the schedule is pretty nice.

He’s coming off mine tomorrow. And my league seems to pay little attention to second waivers for some reason.  I agree with your sentiment in that he may not produce the first few weeks. He might even be dropped by someone who picked him up those first few weeks thinking he was fools gold. (Having said that, he may even be fools gold)

At the moment I am starting Adrian Peterson in my Flex. Lost Henry and every other bench player is either on a bye or injured and would not enjoy dropping any of them to pick up a lottery ticket WR 4/5 for possible more points then Adrian. The longer I wait on Sunday if I was to drop someone the slimmer the pickins. Most likely will watch how the earlier games went and any analysis on what to expect on him. The latest info is he is active and will get some carries perhaps 10-12, perhaps 1 catch, and then there's the goal line TD opportunities. TEN will most likely give him an opportunity to succeed in some way to be part of this team. I'll be monitoring Sunday updates for sure.

Just to give you a reference of the names of players I will most likely not drop just to keep Peterson in the Flex for this week: Gronk (bye), Metcalf (bye), Knox (out, a week away), M Sanders (IR - still think he's got something left), Hunt (IR), and Henry (IR). Yes, I am carrying two TE's plus Henry is in this week. Henry will most likely get dropped for someone next week. If I trusted Gronk or Knox going forward I would have my answer this week, but it's too iffy right now.

Right now I have AP in my starting lineup in a PPR league. Not very optimistic.

I could slide C. Hyde in there, but now there are rumblings J. Robinson could be active. Also see the likes of J. Agnew, K. Drake, and AJ Dillon floating around on the wire.

General consensus is that the LAR should get up on TN and force a lousy gamescript on AP. McNicols game not AP game. Who knows.

And of course, the irrational side of my brain wants to start AP in a primetime Sunday night game. The greatest risk to my personal well being is benching him and then seeing AP go off right in front of my face. Would set my week up nicely with some throwing up in my mouth as I go to bed.

Same

I have Hyde in right now but am leaning towards switching

To AP or not to AP that is the question? Unless there is some treasure that happens to reveal itself AP has just as good of a chance to hit 10 points as any of the aforementioned players. Deduction - AP starts and we accept his performance and results. The next best up for my team is Marvin Jones, Jr. who can be explosive and can also lay a dud. But, I would have to drop someone I don't want to drop. I weigh it out and going with AP. Jones, Jr. gets my BUF D and not a particularly good match up lol. And Golladay - forget it. Although he is way due for something.

Moving forward I believe AP will do well, not Henry standard, but he'll try and prove himself to be as close to King-like as possible. AP would like it if TEN kept rolling with him in the lineup. AP was the King years ago. I believe he waited for an opportunity to make a SuperBowl run and is in fantastic condition. How old is Brady ;)

I’m looking at this way.  AP was productive on a terrible team last year and still scored 7 tds before swift took over around game 10.  He should be a rb2 until Henry comes back.

For now he is on my bench behind Aaron Jones, Eli Mitchell, and Chuba.  Id possibly also plug in Javonte if McCaffrey goes or Mitchell cannot go.  Now...if both Mitchell cannot suit up or McCaffrey is a go (thus making Chuba irrelevant)...then maybe I put in ADP over Tee Higgins at Flex.

God help me I think I actually have to start this guy over Herbert since Montgomery is expected back Monday…. Not feeling good at all. Might be the week I’m eliminated. If only I could trust David Johnson or dernest but they are all crap shoots.

I have this choice too.  At least we get till Sunday night to make a decision.  Hoping for some Coach Speak on touches from either Coach about Montgomery or AP touches or usage.

I may if things keep  trending for CMC to play (have Chuba) and if Eli Mitchell can’t go.
