Adrian Peterson has peaked. I hate to say it but he will not finish in the top 10 for fantasy backs this season. Call it a strong guy instinct but I can't sit idly by while people flush away high picks on him.
I can't really put my finger on why. He lost McKinnie but that isn't it. I think it has more to do with a worsening QB situation and defense. This team is going to be very weak this year. They've lost their heart and soul in Favre.
I guess I just want to generate discussion. But I've kept Adrian since he was a rookie and I'm letting him go this year in favor of other options.
With the games missed he is still ranked #9 in my league. I also don't considered being injured as peaking. Seems your reaching.Read what I wrote again.

Reasons you mentioned:- Instinct- New Offensive line- Bad quarterback play- Team chemistryReasons you didn't mention:- Injury riskAdrian Peterson has peaked. Well, after this last stat (which includes last year, by the way) you've finally convinced me - You're right and the rest of planet earth is wrong. My bad. That's now 6 100+ rushing games in his last 29 starts.
It takes a lot of guts to man up to this, you should be commended. Though I did not agree that Adrian was done, you made your case, backed it up and stuck with it. The premise of your original thread was still a good one and could easily have worked out that way.Good God was I wrong on this. I respectfully turn in my NFL fancard. I'm a Packers fan and maybe I was in denial. But this is a man among boys. I honestly think he's got tiger blood or something. One of these is not like the others. Peterson is that rare combination of superior DNA, unflinching drive, humongous talent, toughness and insane work ethic. He's also a great example of sportsmanship. He's basically what you would make if you created a guy on Madden, only better.

This manning up means little when we all know he'd turn around and say "see, I told you so, I was right all along!" if Adrian Peterson shreds his knee again tomorrow (the same way he did last year after "admitting" he was wrong). It takes a lot of guts to man up to this, you should be commended. Funny, I remember seeing a bunch of posts from him at the end of the year that he was right since his injury caused him to fall out of the top 5.I've been considering bumping this thread for some time now. Glad to see you had the stones to admit you were way off on this.

This thread was started for the 2011 season, not 2012.They gutted his knee and replaced it with Cheetah knees. Not your fault, no way of predicting that. This isn't a science forum.
This.Especially considering he flip-flopped on his stance at least a couple times.I don't see how he should be commended at all. More like he should be blasted even more. I see this as nothing more than a preemptive bump. Someone was bound to do it. This way he just tries to save some face. This manning up means little when we all know he'd turn around and say "see, I told you so, I was right all along!" if Adrian Peterson shreds his knee again tomorrow (the same way he did last year after "admitting" he was wrong). It takes a lot of guts to man up to this, you should be commended. How should we torture him? I know it's just an argument about fantasy football and he admitted to being wrong, but it doesn't change the fact that he was wrong about predicting how a player would do in fantasy football and that's just completely unacceptable here.This.Especially considering he flip-flopped on his stance at least a couple times.I don't see how he should be commended at all. Yeah, they didn't have anything for him last time they played. IInteresting timing since the Packers are likely the team that stands in the way of him beating Eric Dickerson's record...
Actually if you just read the thread title, I was correct. Its when I flip flopped my stance that I got into trouble. So I was right but for the wrong reason. How should we torture him? Looking back, I should have just held my ground on this first post. And that first sentence should have mentioned that his "dynasty" value had peaked. Adrian as a player appears to continued to improve. I'm not sure where his dynasty value is right now in comparison to this original posting though. Is it higher right now, in the midst of his historic season but with him being a year older?Adrian Peterson has peaked. I hate to say it but he will not finish in the top 10 for fantasy backs this season. Call it a strong guy instinct but I can't sit idly by while people flush away high picks on him. I don't know about that. He's not like anything we've ever seen before.I want to say he has peaked now...surly he couldn't match what he's doing this year....right??? I can't help but think the answer might be no. Those first 3 or 4 games of the season he looked slow and not like someone who could carry the load. It sounds like he's one of the hardest working and humblest super stars in sports and I don't doubt if the man wants to he could do for a full season what he's done for the last 8 games. Add how fast he recovered from that injury and how he attacked his rehab, it just feels like there's a higher league than the NFL he belongs in.
Nah.Well, that didn't take long. Already trying to once again bend and twist things back into "I was right all along".
You let go of him then, would you let go of him now if you had him? What did you get for him? What would you want now in return?Looking back, I should have just held my ground on this first post. Ummmm Sabertooth bumped it chief.Anyway. Sabertooth started this in 2011....and manned up about how he was wrong. Bumping this thread was very lame.

I think you get some sort of medal for coming forward on this one.Err, ofcourse you waited till the end of the world to own up to it, but ah...Good God was I wrong on this. Vikings GM Rick Spielman indicated he wants to draft a running back to remove some of the load off Adrian Peterson.
Peterson, 29, has over 2,000 carries on his tires. "He's getting to the point where you don't have to give him the ball 50 times a game for 16 games," Spielman said. "Adrian's the face of our franchise, but (new OC) Norv (Turner) has a history of having two backs ... because I think it's very important as you go through the season that they're still strong in Week 16 and they're still strong when you get into the playoffs." When push comes to shove, Peterson will likely remain a 2014 workhorse, even if Minnesota selects a running back in the middle rounds.

Yes, they do need to draft a running back to replace Gerhart (unless you think that Matt Asiata is that answer), but I do think it is a legitimate question to ask the question "when do we expect for AP to start to see a reduction in workload that will impact his fantasy football value?"You mean he wants to draft someone to replace Toby Gerhart? Who would have thought that?
That's true, of course. I'm all for them drafting a better #2 to a) reduce AP's weardown factor at the end of the year and b) to prolong his career.Yes, they do need to draft a running back to replace Gerhart (unless you think that Matt Asiata is that answer), but I do think it is a legitimate question to ask the question "when do we expect for AP to start to see a reduction in workload that will impact his fantasy football value?"You mean he wants to draft someone to replace Toby Gerhart?
