AFCC Game Thread: Patriots/Broncos - The Final Showdown (1 Viewer)

This will be a day not long forgotten in Vegas lore. Sharps made a KILLING.
Yep heard 5x as much action came in on the Pats this weekend.
Vegas: Making billions off delusional homers since day 1.
delusional to think the pats win todays game by more then 3? Most neutral fans were surprised the line opened so low. To call someone who thought NE would win this game "delusional" is idiotic.
Low? The line favored the pats by 6.5 over the number one seed in the conference when you back out home field. somehow people convinced themselves the pats were a monster after looking merely ok against the Chiefs.
You are clearly incapable of being impartial as you hate the Patriots. You don't "take out home field" and adjust the line. The line was 3.5, and it was not delusional in the slightest bit to think the pats would win by more then 3.5. That's pure hyperbole or trolling. I have lots of Denver fan friends who were surprised at the low 2.5 opening spread and thought it should be around 4 or 5.
it was delusional to think the pats should have been favored by that much. And that has next to nothing to do with thinking the pats could win by more than a field goal. Lines are about probabilities, not possibilities.
The Pats SHOULD have been favored by 3.5, if not more. Hindsight is pretty easy hey? The line was good if not too low. You're delusional to think otherwise.
$1,000 says you're wrong.
big words after the fact.

That's like saying it was delusional to say Carolina wouldn't be up by more then 15 by halftime. Everyone would take that bet pre game.

I just wanna know where Devouredbychaos is at. Time for his profile to go silent until next season, right? Literally the AFC ITS.
I'm right here. I don't disappear unlike others. The Patriots o-line was absolutely putrid. Just an all around bad game, that they almost could've won. Regardless the Denver defense was the difference. It'll be fun watching Manning choke and lose yet another Super Bowl though

No way to know that- there's a huge difference between being up 5 vs. 8.
Actually, it is very easy to know what they do in a specific situation. This is Gary Kubiak we are talking about! The dude is as conservative as they come.

Minus the still seething Peyton hate that oozes out of your pores, respect to you for showing your face and giving a little credit to the D.

Yes, Broncos deserved to win. I don't get your point? "delusional " is a pretty strong word implying that everyone that was wrong about something was an idiot to think the way they thought. To say that every analyst (who almost all picked new england), every neutral fan, etc... wasn't just WRONG, but they were total idiots for thinking NE could win this game. That's a clearly exaggerated statement. I think the line at 3.5 was just about right if not too low. Denver showed up and played a great game and deserved to win.

Vegas saw a chance to reel in a bunch of suckers and it paid off big time. They're pretty good at what they do.

They won the game by 2 points. That's like throwing the "you're an idiot if you picked the favorite!" line out after every upset in sports. Fans like that are annoying as hell. The Pats were favored to win and picked to win by most people for a reason. It wasn't just because they were all idiot fans who don't know sports. Some, yes. But most Denver fans I talked to thought the line was about right.

I thought Denver had a much better offensive game plan to start the game even if the running game didn't work. NE did a great job adjusting their defense for the second half. The Pats never really changed their blocking scheme and that killed them. Hats off to Denver they played tough all game.
:thumbs up:

Of course. They earned that win with the way they played. Plus I'm not about to be lumped in with all the handfuls of Seahawks trolls who disappeared never to be heard from again last season after they lost the Super Bowl.

3.5 isn't that big of a spread. Considering all the factors going into the game, there was an overwhelming sense that NE would win today's game. I'm neutral to these two teams but a 1 point spread would have been too small.

Do you think anyone who picked KC to cover the 5 point spread last week vs NE was delusional? It was not remotely delusional and idiotic to think that the Pats would win by more then 3.5. Nor was it idiotic to think Denver could cover.

As far as BB not kicking FGs, it looks bad now but it could just have easily backfired. If DEN had gotten one more first down in either of two possessions, the game would have been over and people would have wondered how you kick a FG when you need a TD to tie.
I thought BB definitely made the right decision the first time. The second one was closer IMO. Denver manages their offense differently if you kick the FG in either spot, so the game doesn't necessarily play out the same way.
I disagree. Denver manages their offense the EXACT same way if you kick the second FG to make it 20-15 with 2:30 left and NE with all three TOs. I typically like BB's aggressiveness and had absolutely no problem with BB's 4th and 2 call in 2006 but I just thought NE's best chance to win today was to do so in regulation and for that they required a FGEither way. Congrats Broncos fans...manning made the plays early and the defense made them early AND late

If you say so...

Up until that point the only time they saw that field position was because of a turnover. It seems hard to fault him for thinking they may not get a better chance than that.

I felt like I was watching a Cowboys game instead of NE. Bad fourth down decision making, lack of coaching adjustments to continue to let your QB get killed, big plays to keep the game exciting to watch, and a bunch of disappointment to end it.

Yep. He's touted a genius if they convert it and win the game. It didn't work out the way he hoped clearly but can't really fault him for the call.

Everyone is talking about BB and the FG, but I think the biggest eye opener from me is that he refused to help his tackles the entire game. He was so sure that his passing attack could beat Denver's D, and he was wrong. Brady paid for it, big time. I've watched Denver all year, and the Pats might be the only team that didn't help consistently when the QB was getting tenderized.
Yep. Going in to the half I figured BB would figure it out and keep a RB and a TE not named Gronk in to block. They did that on their first passing attempt of the second half but seemed to abandon it immediately.

Their defensive game plan was phenomenal. As much as Cam will give their team all sorts of different problems, I'm sure Wade will have something prepared for him.

Game not really even close despite score.pats havent won a postseason road game since 2006 , 10 years running.

When Brady leads your team in rushing you will not win. Pats once again show their soft side..

And I counted at least 7 intentional grounding plays by Brady am I right?

You cant throw the ball in the ground just because you're about to be sacked.

Pats got punked once again. This just in..Brady NOT the best postseason QB of all time.
I did notice the intentional grounding. Every time he was under pressure. It was ridiculous.
I noticed he gets rid of it...but NNE were grounding.I also noticed you were quiet until now when you run your mouth.
Hey buddy, no need for the aggression. The Patriots lost. They have all offseason to get better and watch us play two Sundays from now. LMAO. Maybe you dust off the pom poms and root for us too? Let me guess, youre pulling for the NFC now that CryBrady has been eliminated??? Sho Nuf!!! No amount of hate can ruin the moment. Broncos In!!!!! Suck it.

Given the circumstances I don't think 3.5 on the road was that crazy. I know there's a lot of annoying homer pats fans, but given the sheer number of people betting on the patriots to cover, I'd imagine that included a ton of neutral fans.

It'll get better in 2 weeks when the Broncos get embarrassed yet again in a Super Bowl  Hope you'll stick around instead of hiding under a rock crying all off season!

Small personal anecdote, but I know more than a couple people who considered hedge-betting for the Pats in case they won to lessen the sting, but were scared away because of the line.

This is what people say when their hate falls short. Put the crystal ball away Zultran. For the next two weeks the teams of the year will be featured. Denver is one of them. Very rewarding season. Especially this embarassing game against the Patriots. LMAO. Cant wait to take off the belt and spank some humility into young Cam. I have his dab count at under 2 and his explosive sideline baby pouting at over 3.

So if Denver loses the Super Bowl, it takes the sting out of your team sucking? You're a sad little man.

Cant wait to see the post game interviews. Would be nice to include some shots from Patriots fans in New England as well. The long faces. The tied up phone lines with people cancelling hotel reservations. Brady got served out there today. On the menu? Number one defense. Hows it taste?!?!? Sho'd up? Sho nuf!!!!!

Yeah I thought for a second he was actually trying to show a little class after a loss but I guess not. He's still a little above ITS because at least he showed up in here. However, I wouldn't classify this as eating crow.

How bad would Brady be without Gronk......the guy makes miracle play after miracle play.
I think he's still pretty great even without Gronk. However, Gronk would make it look easy for any QB. He's the best offensive weapon in football when healthy IMO. He's unstoppable.

Of course it does! Losing the Super Bowl isn't what you'd consider a "rewarding season", it's soul crushing and depressing. You don't celebrate being 2nd best. It's much worse than losing an AFC Championship game. Just ask all the Broncos fans if they remember Super Bowl 48. Talk about an embarrassment

he's taking today's loss pretty badly. I'm picturing him typing furiously with tears streaming down his face.

So pumped! Still can't believe the Broncos are back in the Super Bowl. What a season this has been. Love our defense--Miller was a one man wrecking crew today.

Mad props to Brady for getting abused all day long but hanging in there and still almost pulling it off. That deep pass to Gronk on 4th and 10 took guts and was as clutch as it gets. Gronk is unreal, although Denver held him relatively in check until losing their two starting safeties to injury. Gotta hope neither injury is serious and Ward and Stewart are good to go against Cam, Olsen and Co. in two weeks.

Good post

I think everyone outside of neurotic Massachusettes is in agreement the better team won and it will be best to have a SB matchup of legit teams who don't need to resort to cheating to win games.

On a serious note, this has to be Manning's last game. If we win, it will be because of our defense. DT has gone MIA and Manning struggled to sustain drives after the first two scores. I dont think Cam has faced a defense quite like ours so we will definitely make him earn every yard. Should be a great matchup between the AFC NFC darlings. Congrats Panthers fans. Great game to the classy Patriots fans who owned the loss without spilling milk.

Not gonna waste my time going through this thread just making myself mad.

Wanted to say that Denver played an amazing game today in all three phases, especially on defense. I had a lot of worries going into this game and at no point did I think NE was guaranteed a victory here. Not the least of which was the offensive line, but I was also more concerned about things that didn't end up being relevant at all such as the officiating which by the end of the day I thought was pretty par for the course and balanced enough.

The game was a lot closer than it appeared, a handful of things razor thin. But as bad as NE's offensive line was the game I'm surprised they kept it so close, gives me hope for next season. The past couple of weeks I had been sweating McDaniels getting picked off by another team, but today was one of those games where even when you take into consideration how bad the OL was you can't understand what they were trying to accomplish with their play calling.

Denver was the better team today, it would be cool to see chicken parm win another ring, but its gonna be a tough game.

For all the Broncos fans that have kept it kosher good luck, #### the rest of you.

Good stuff. I'm not sure if you consider me in the"kept it kosher" crowd or not, but I want you to know I have nothing but respect for you and your team. I enjoy giving you guys a hard time, but mostly because the debates are always entertaining and you always come back with the goods. At the end of the day, win or lose today or in a couple of weeks, I thank the Lord almighty that my team is at least relevant and I'm not a Chiefs or Jets fan. You guys have that in spades.
