Ahman downgraded to OUT (1 Viewer)

tick dog

ROTOWORLD: Ahman Green (knee) has been downgraded to out for Week 11. Ron Dayne will start, but has a difficult matchup against the Saints and will likely lose touches to Joe Echemandu. Still, either backup would be a decent flex. Dayne could dominate the workload if it's a close game, but Echemandu might see more action if it's a shootout because Dayne is poor in the passing game.

So....Dayne or Joe owners, you rolling with either one at Flex? Tough one.

Texans running back Ahman Green out of Saints game

By MEGAN MANFULL

Texans head coach Gary Kubiak announced today after practice that running back Ahman Green will not be active for Sunday's game against the Saints because of injury.

More details to follow

I picked up dayne last week while on a bye. I belive they will shut ahman down for the seaon very soon. good news

yup, edited to add rotoworld, which i forgot. i have a tough call between dayne, selvin (henry could still playm, faces tough TENN D) and coles (vs. #1 pass D, pitt) at Flex this weekend. can start one of Dayne/Selvin at RB2 but then would have to choose one of the other remaining two at Flex.

That is good news for Green owners, glad they did not wait until Sunday. I think we can cut bait on Green now.

I hope they confirm shutting down Green, so that I can dump him ... he's my safety net in case one of my starters go down - :lmao:

Flex?Given the fact that my other RBs are Larry Johnson, AD, Travis Henry and Chris Brown, Dayne's my RB1 and RB2.

Not dropping Green just yet, but Dayne will be my RB2 this week. Need him to get me through ADP's injury here for a couple weeks ...

Anyone picking up Echemandu instead?

i'm in the same boat and grabbed Dayne this week off waivers. Kubiak has shown he has no problem going to Dayne, so barring injury I don't really see the need to take up 3 spots on a roster for the Texans RB.

I picked up Dayne this week hoping that he'll be a nice throw in for a trade next week. I think he'll be a sell high after this week.

This is good news for Green and Dayne owners (no decision to make).

Why do they think the Saints are such a tough matchup? They give up 100 yards rushing a game, certainly not a top 10 defense there. Weird.

This game intrigues me more than most this week. Between this with Green being out again, and the first game back for Shaub and Johnson for many months, I think the Texans offense could go a lot of different ways this week.

I hate to see injuries for any player, but as a ffballer in a 14 team league (fighting for a playoff spot) it is always nice to have 4 starting RBs!

Ok, sorry, no one cares, I know. So what do you all think his projections are for week 11? I have the benefit of sitting him to see, but what do you think for this week and moving forward, esp. if Green is like this all season?

I own all 3 of the Texans RBs & I'm happy there is now 1 worth something. But let's temper our expectations for Dayne. I know he tore up the Raiders last week after Green went out. But remember, Dayne has started 2 games this season.

His stat lines were:

16 for 40 yards, 1 TD

17 for 47 yards, no TDs

I'm hoping he can duplicate late 2006 as much as anyone, just not sure history can repeat w/ this guy.

I own Dayne on my redraft and Eche on both my redraft and dynasty. This year it seems like Dayne has a big game when you do not expect to and when he starts with a good matchup he has done nothing. I thought by now Eche would be more of a factor and still can't forget what Dayne did at the end of last year. For this week it will be hard to play either as Houston should be going to the air early and often.

As the year plays out I look for Eche to get more looks to determine his value for next year.

for what its worth john clayton just said joe emu is starting this week....
Interesting. Not that I expect Kubiak to be open about who his starting RB will be, remember he is a Shanahan disciple, but is there any information to back this up or is this just Clayton speculating.

Full article; Kubiak states Dayne will get the start (see bold). Columnist also casts doubt as to whether Green will return at all this year (again, bold, probably conjecture but may not be that far off ... ).

I'm sure there will be some sort of split with Eche ... not sure what ... maybe Dayne 15-18 w/Eche getting another 5-10? Any thoughts?

Texans running back Ahman Green out of Saints game

By MEGAN MANFULL

Copyright 2007 Houston Chronicle

Texans running back Ahman Green will not suit up against the New Orleans Saints on Sunday. Coach Gary Kubiak said Ron Dayne will get the start because of continued swelling in Green's knee.

Kubiak would not say for sure if Green will play again this season.

"He will not play Sunday," Kubiak said. "He will be down. He has not responded over the last couple of weeks and the rest we've given him. He came out and did a little (Thursday), as I told you all. His knee swelled this morning. So he will be down. And we will work from there."

Green, who received $6.5 million in guaranteed money, refused to speak to the media after practice. He injured his knee in the first game of the season and hasn't played in a complete game yet.

In six appearances, he has 70 carries for 260 yards and two touchdowns. His return is uncertain.

"I really don't know yet," Kubiak said. "I'm taking it a day at a time. I know he will not play this weekend and we'll go from there."

Rotowire:

Nov 16 Green (knee) will be a game-time decision Sunday against the Saints, the Houston Chronicle reports.

Recommendation: Green took a few repetitions during individual drills on Thursday, but did not participate in a good portion of the practice. If Green can't go, Ron Dayne and Adimchinobi ("Joe") Echemandu will get most of the running-back work.

conflicting reports?

:) I've held onto him and Johnson for so long I forgot they were great contributers the first few weeks. I went RB WR WR WR RB this year and was happy at first despite having two Texans. But I can't hold onto any further hope that Green is worth a roster spot and will probably try to win RW on waivers for him.

Wow, not suprising though. Texans need to see what this kid can do. Dayne is..well Dayne is Dayne.

So I guess no one has heard anything further regarding this rumor that Echmandu might start Sunday?

Nothing from the Horse's mouth, but Rotowire says:

Nov 16 With Ahman Green ruled out this week, Dayne will get the start Sunday against the Saints, the Texans' official site reports.

Recommendation: Dayne, who will be backed up by Adimchinobi Echemandu, had a big game in Week 9, but overall he has been hit or miss. On the plus side, at least there will be no pesky game-time decision on Green, who has been battling knee issues most of the season. Moreover, the fact that Green was scratched even after the team's bye suggests that this could be something that lingers for him.

RotoWire

Then STATS,Inc says:

Nov 16 Dayne is expected to start for the Texans on Sunday against New Orleans after starter Ahman Green was ruled out with a swollen left knee.

Advice: Texans coach Gary Kubiak was confident Green would be healthy, but the latest development should increase Dayne's fantasy value. The backup running back, who had 21 carries for 122 yards against Oakland, should get the majority of the carries.

This from the Texans' Website:

http://www.houstontexans.com/news/Story.asp?story_id=3915

Green out: Swelling in Ahman Green’s knee will keep the running back from dressing against the Saints. Green took limited reps Thursday, which aggravated the sore knee he has been nursing since Week 3.

“He will be down,” head coach Gary Kubiak said. “He has not responded here over the course of the last couple of weeks to the rest we have given him. He came out and did a little bit yesterday, as I told you, and his knee did not respond.”

With Green sidelined, rusher Ron Dayne will assume starting duties and Adimchinobi Echemandu will serve as a backup. Kubiak is considering bringing up running back Darius Walker from the practice squad.

I would rather have him IN or OUT: so now I can start the Great Dayne and feel confident that he will get 20 touches at least.

I don't know about this particular report, but John Clayton has been so wrong so many times the last two years I no longer pay any attention to him at all.

For those that seem to hate on Ron Dayne, take emotion out of it. With Schaub to Andre Johnson now in the playbook again, count on there being a lot less pressure on the run game. And don't forget Ron Dayne in Kubiak's offense last season and part of this year...here let me help you.

Week 13: 18/95

Week 14: 21/87/2 TD

Week 15: 18/94/TD

Week 16: 32/153/2 TD

Last week: 21/122/TD

Where does Echmudu or whatever his name is...where exactly is the fear he will be taking over as the starter? Why does Kubiak need to see what the kid has exactly? Curious as to why people in here turn a blind eye to proven production with the same system and coach in place as well.

MOP- point well taken but below are the stats for 3 games that Dayne owners needed to plug him in their lineup, there are two ways to look at it. I have both Dayne and Eche, I would like to see what Eche can do, looked great the one week he got looks.rushing attempts-yards-TD at Falcons 15 62 0 vs Dolphins 16 40 1 at Chargers 17 47 0

Well, you've got to wonder, if Dayne was putting up those numbers last year, why wasn't he the undisputed starter in Houston to begin this season? I don't know the answer, but for some reason Kubiak himself turned a blind eye to Dayne's production last year.

NFL Network said Emu took half the reps at practice for whstever that is worth.

From what I am understanding, the split will be similiar to what it was in the Charger game, if the plan goes as expected.

Besides the Oakland game Dayne is averaging 2.8 - 2.4 - 2.7 - 2.5 per carry in the other games he has played. That is probably why they want to see what EMU can do.
