Ahman Green (1 Viewer)

I am trying to figure out what happened with Ahman this week. He was activated all week long, and practiced Friday (listed as probable). He started in all fantasy leagues that I am in (including one where he started for me) and never played a down. When did he get inactivated? I must have missed it, but now I lost b/c of it.. uggghhhh

I droppped his ### for a kicker this week. Hou run game is weak and looks like a committee now...

His career is done. If Andre Johnson was back, it would be a different story. He would probably be productive. Alas, he is not and essentially worthless.

This is per fanball:

Texans: Green inactive due to quad injury Sunday 10/28, 3:48 PM CT

Ahman Green is inactive for the Texans today due to a knee injury. Ron Dayne will start in place of Green.

Any proof of the asthma problem?

Green's asthma problem is well known and going into the San Diego area with all the smoke and ashes in the air was not a good situation for him - owners should have at least been nervous about that. AT least he was deactivated so people could get the info and put in another player - would have been worse to not be deactivated and still put up a zero.

I had to leave to go to a party, and had to set my lineups at 10am. The "probable" Green was among my starters.

I have asthma too and I had not really thought of this prior to the game. Since the air quality was low I should have thought about this possibility.

A known problem and a report problem are two different things. He's reported to have a knee injury. I don't see a report of asthma.

Is Albuterol a banned substance? Take a couple of puffs and get out there on the field!! Green is basically untradeable at this point, and except for a couple of good match-ups down the stretch he has very little value.

So he could play a quarter and half for 5 carries 8 yards before realizing that his meds were not going to be enough to overcome the poor air quality?

Ted Thompson really screwed up by not giving Ahman $30 million bucks this offseason.
True. Why pay Green when you can use a 2nd rounder for Brandon Jackson?
Deshawn Wynn has more rushing yards than Green I believe.
Wynn also plays in Green Bay while Green is playing for Houston. You can't really say that Green wouldn't do that well in Green Bay because he's playing with an inept offense currently. That's like saying Moss won't do #### in NE because he was horrible in Oakland. Green was hurt this year...but would he for sure have been hurt had he stayed in Green Bay? I believe Green would be much more valuable in Green Bay than Houston.

Asthma is the rumor from these boards, but I've seen nothing in the press about it being the cause of his deactivation yet. Would be better, obviously, than if it's the leg issue, since then he'd presumably be fine going forward.

I don't know about that. I don't think Green would be as good as he was last season, which was pretty much a step down from how good he's been in his career. If he hasn't hit the wall, he certainly has it in his headlights.

so was it knee or asthma? one sounds like a lingering problem, the other not so much.
If you buy anything concerning injuires (see Andre Johnson) from the Texans, per houstontexans.com
After Green suffered a knee injury in Week 3, the running game began to struggle with the Texans averaging just 3.1 yards per carry so far this season. Green returned to action in Week 6 in Jacksonville and was expected to play against the Chargers, but swelling in his knee after Friday’s practice forced him to the sidelines.“He took a few reps Friday and he told me Friday after practice that he could not play,” head coach Gary Kubiak said.

ugh, not what I wanted to hear. I think it's not inconceivable that they sit him next week with a bye in week 10. then after that, they'll probably have nothing to play for, and may want to give "Joe" more touches.

Would it have killed you to spend 30 seconds on research before making this post?
For Ahman Green? It's probably not worth it.

No you shouldn't cmon really you should be thinking about other things than if Ahman Green's asthma would keep him out of the game

The Texans knew after practice Friday that Ahman Green (knee) wouldn't be able to play Sunday against the Chargers.

"He took a few reps Friday and he told me Friday after practice that he could not play," head coach Gary Kubiak said. The Texans still listed Green as probable for the game, which is against league rules. They could be fined for the infraction. Green's status for Week 9 against the Raiders is uncertain.

If you are the Texans - why the heck do you publicly admit this?
