Davis wants two more

Al Davis has been running the Raiders for 44 years. He has seen the Raiders win three Super Bowls among their 28 winning seasons and has been inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame.

Sunday, he sat in a Metrodome executive suite and talked about his refusal to retire until he wins two more Super Bowls. He is convinced he can accomplish that.

He sang the praises of Culpepper and said his only regret was that some coaches persuaded him to trade Randy Moss. Otherwise he could have one of the best 1-2 punches in football back together and a winning franchise.

Oakland had the No. 1 overall pick in the April draft and took Louisiana State quarterback JaMarcus Russell, but Russell held out until the season began and has yet to play. "I want to give Daunte a chance to see what he can do," Davis said Sunday. "And so far, he has done all right."

Davis had the courage to hire Lane Kiffin as his head coach at age 31. While not critical of Kiffin, a Bloomington Jefferson graduate and former Southern California offensive coordinator, Davis said he was not happy with the team's 2-8 record. :football:

Al will have to live until he`s 200 if this is what he wants :P

:goodposting: Sounds like those coaches were lounging around the bed and breakfast, surfing the Shark Pool and getting their info from all the "sharks" who were declaring that Randy had lost a step and was finished . . .

I like how he blames the Moss trade on the coaches.
Yeah, Pats really got him back for getting burned on a 4th (or 5th?) on Doug Gabriel last year. Of course, they've also acquired OAK's 3rd round pick this year, which should be one of the first picks in the round.

Cryongenics stocks just soared.

There was nothing wrong with the Moss trade for the Raiders. Moss was never going to perform for them. They would never have gotten better than what New England gave up. The way Moss is performing now is immaterial.

C'mon, he's not going to be alive 17 more years. That's crazy talk.
 :lmao: :lmao: :lmao: :lmao:

:bowtie: This is my issue in FF. I pull up short in trades because I worry too much about how it helps the other team rather than how it helps me.

Good to see someone in that organization still has eyes. Perhaps the problem isn't that Davis is too involved, it's that Davis isn't involved enough.

The groundwork was laid pretty early on this.

Yeah, and people in hell want icewater, too. Seriously, I think dementia is setting in. Al's had an amazing career, but he should be ashamed of his football decisions over the past several years. Next time Al starts talking crazy like that, one of his handlers should make him grab his walker and take a lap. My symphathies to Raiders fans everywhere.
