No mention of his new nickname from his teammates, but Calvin Johnson, AKA MEGATRON, is the real deal. 2 weeks and 8 catches, 131 yards and 2 tds. If Kitna isn't knocked senseless again he will have a Moss-like rookie year.

And he has the best nickname in the NFL now...apparently Roy Williams came up with it :football:

so he's on pace for 64 catches, just under 1000 yards, and 16 TDs. That would work. And of course, all those numbers will only go up as he continues to get in more plays each week.

I got Calvin in 6 dynasty leagues this year, and in one of them, drafted him in the early 3rd as the 4th WR off the board. I couldn't be happier. :goodposting:

made a thread earlier about calvin and is he now a must start WR as long as kitna is playing...

thinking about doing it....wish my league used 3WRs or a flex :goodposting:

I'm sorry but even after his first two weeks this was a terrible pick!

he looks good so far but lets relax with the Randy Moss rookie year comparisons. Moss was flat out uncoverable in his rookie year. I don't think Calvin is there yet

Well MEGATRON certainly has helped turn my dynasty league team around from 3-13 a year ago to 2-0 so far!
Same here. He and Patrick "Whatchu talkin' bout" Willis have been major upgrades on my dynasty team.

best rookie on the field today wasnt even used right, ####ing Childress...Adrian Peterson will win ROY...
agree, i thought AD was awesome today. The stats will tell otherwise, but if u saw the game the offensive line, the quarterback, and the play calling were horrible. AD had no holes, it was all him today. If Chester were running those and catching those, he would have probably half the yards that AD got.Calvin didnt play that great today, but you can see the future is bright for him.

Why didn't you get him in your other 24 dynasty leagues? :X

He even pushes off like a Pro. :link:
    poor poor vikings fans...always classy! He barely touched the DB, who was helpless against the mighty MEGATRON!
 Not a Viking fan. A WR being able to get away with a little push off, is a part of the game. That a rookie WR can do it so well, I see as a positive. Apparently you don't?
He's already a master of it. :link: His college highlight reel is full of those sweet moves. Slight push to ge the defender off balance, catch ball. :pics: Now if I can just teach Brandon Marshall to be a littel more subtle. He got caught this weekend with his pushoff. Cost me a TD. I'll have to get him with Calvin to work on this for next week. CALVIN JOHNSON!!!!!!!!Damn right!!!!!!!

CJ is my 3rd WR, it may be time to sit Mr. Colston
same situation...i benched Colston this week for Calvin....Colston had 13 pts. Calvin had 12 pts. Still might take some for Marquis to get his job back.I told him to stay positive and keep working, he'll get his chance.I'm not a tough love FF coach

ROY= Patrick Willis is making the most IMPACT in the league it will not even be close. Mr Johnson and Adrian if healthy will be fighting for second.

Are you crazy? In a dynasty league you have to take Johnson up there with other STUD WRs, because that's what he is...

He is middle of the road in PPR leagues. Detroit really spreads it around. I would move him now in redrafts. Dynasty he is money, but everyone knows that.

Of course we have no idea how many teams are in his dynasty league, how many keepers there are, etc. Still, assuming it is a 10 or 12 team league an early 3rd round pick would be about 21-24 or 26-29 overall. It would be pretty amazing for the #2 pick in the draft, the most highly touted receiver in several years, to last that long in a dynasty draft.

Quick blurb from Lions Insider Tom Kowalski's interview with Mike Martz today.

http://blog.mlive.com/lionsinsider/

Is Calvin Johnson ahead of where most rookies would be at this point?

"I think Calvin really made a surge in the last few weeks. In the opener, he was pretty good and he was even better this last week. I think his confidence continues to grow with his ability to play against defensive backs, the coverage and recognizing all of those things. It's fun to watch him get the ball now and run with it and make plays.''

Nice... this kid is special. Between his talent, his brains, his charisma and his work ethic he seems like a superstar already. I can't imagine what he'll be like in a year or two.

What do you mean move him down in redrafts......they're over. Are you talking about next year?

Maybe a little early, but in dynasty that isn't such a reach. FBG has him ranked WR17 for THIS year... and the preseason rankings had him WR10 for dynasty. Who knows what he could be in 3 years... and for dynasty I would definitely take him over the likes of Harrison, TO, Moss, and Holt. He could be your cornerstone for the next 10 years, and he's putting up similar numbers today. In one auction dynasty, I spent most of my money on SJax, Peterson, and Calvin. Could be an imposing offensive crew for years to come.

Uh, he said "move him now", not "move him down". In other words, he was suggesting that if you own him, capitalize on his success so far. (Personally, I don't think that's a good idea, most people in redraft snagged him as a low WR2/WR3 type, and could be money - but of course depends on what you get for him I guess).

Don't they have one offensive ROY and one defensive ROY? They aren't competing against one another.

because he's a large MONSTER. And also because Megatron was the name of the main bad guy in the Transformers movie right?

NFL team scout Tom Marino on Calvin Johnson:

"I have not seen all of those years a more physical specimen and a person that brings everything to the game...He builds speed quickly, has a powerful stride... he has rare size, speed, strength that makes him a dangerous runner after the catch..."
