***** ALL-TIME NBA/ABA DRAFT ***** (Scoobus is Champion!) (3 Viewers)

I'm debating whether to pick responsibly or pick for fun...

I'm going with neither. I'm picking for MENACE!

15.07 - Charles Oakley, PF, 1990
He was a double-double machine in the 90's and a walking crime spree on the court. Watch ya neck!

NBA All-Star (1994)
NBA All-Defensive First Team (1994)
NBA All-Defensive Second Team (1998)
NBA All-Rookie First Team (1986)
NABC Division II Player of the Year (1985)
NCAA Division II rebounding leader (1985)

Tough call here, lots of value on the board.

15.08 Joakim Noah, C 00s

I'm kind of amazed that Horford went 5 rounds earlier than the guy who was better at basketball and led Horford's college teams. I buy a little discrepancy because of Horford's sustained excellence, but his peak never reached Noah's. In the five years before his body broke down, Noah was good for 11-11-4, a defensive player of the year award, and three all-defense selections alongside a top-five MVP finish (and another year of receiving MVP votes) - I couldn't find a single MVP vote for Horford, ever. My point is: just like at Florida, they're pretty close...not 5 rounds apart.

I'll happily pair Noah with Leonard and have the budding 2010s team of defense in this house.

Bonus points for calling out Dolan.

15.09 DeAndre Jordan – C 2010s

With the previous pick Instinctive thought he had signed DeAndre Jordan to a lucrative contract to man the middle for his 2010s team, but Blake Griffin and I flew to his home to convince him to come to a better run organization where he’s loved.  If that doesn't make sense to you, please read THIS One of the best free agency stories in recent NBA history.

…and we’re happy to have him on board ready to do THIS for the squad.  Yesterday was the 8 year anniversary of DJ’s all-time dunk and Brandon Knight’s death.  RIP

In his prime DeAndre Jordan was absolutely unstoppable.  He was a double-double machine, with 4 stocks to boot.  He averaged over 13 boards for seven consecutive seasons while putting up 12 points on 70%.  So stupid how good he and Blake Griffin were together at PF & C.

Officials:

  • 3X All-NBA
  • 2X All-Defense
  • 2X Rebounding Champ
  • Friends with Kevin Durant & Kyrie Irving so he's now a Net

And his jump shot. :Kisses fingers: A true thing of beauty.

He also finished 4th in MVP voting in 2014. The only other centers in the decade to finish in the top 5 in any given year are Jokic and Howard.

ehh he was good when there was a lack of big men in the league. Joel Embiid literally owns Deandre Jordan.

Thinking about Earl, I would bring up Chris Johnson (CJ2K). Does he belong in the 00s or 10s? He only played two season in the 00s vs 8 in the 10s. Most of his career yards and TDs came in the 10s. However, two of his three best seasons including his history making 2500 yard season came in the 00s. I think there is room for interpretation on placement that goes beyond just counting the years played.

It's a masonry convention in here!

"Why don't we take all these bricks and build a shelter for the homeless, so maybe your mother will have a place to stay."
I had a college roommate that loved that movie so much that he recorded it onto a cassette tape and would listen to it when he took a long trip because he could "watch the movie in his mind" while he drove.

I missed his original post, but I can only assume it was about Vinny Del Negro.

In all seriousness, I have some guys out there (particularly in the 2010's) that I had rated to rounds 8-10.
I have a few guys that I still wouldn't have picked who got taken in early rounds too. That's the fun part!

Sorry for the delay.  I checked last night before I went to bed and I still wasn't up.  I know everyone is eagerly awaiting so here goes:

15.10 - Terrell Brandon - PG/90's

Was sniped for this position a few times in the past couple days so I am finally pulling the trigger.  I think he is a notch above those others remaining but it's close.

Interesting tidbit about Brandon:  In late February 2008, Brandon and former NFL defensive back Anthony Newman were the victims of an extortion attempt. Both Brandon and Newman received letters demanding money. Brandon and his friend, Timothy Upshaw, went along with the letter's request for Brandon to leave a bag outside of his garage with money inside (though they only placed a single dollar bill and plain paper in the bag). Bobby Hayes, the man responsible for the letters, arrived to retrieve the bag when he was confronted by Upshaw. Police were later called to the scene after a resident heard men talking about killing someone. Bobby Hayes was brought into custody and later released on bail, receiving orders not to contact Brandon, Newman or their families.

Career highlights and awards

  • 2× NBA All-Star (1996, 1997)
  • NBA All-Rookie Second Team (1992)
  • NBA Sportsmanship Award (1997)
  • Pac-10 Player of the Year (1991)
  • 2× First-team All-Pac-10 (1990, 1991)

@Mister CIAyour turn

Yoda: The last decent 2010s center, DeAndre Jordan was.
Obi-Wan Kenobi: No ... there is another.

...

15.12: C Nikola Vucevic, 2010s

By his third season in Orlando (2014-15) at age 24, Vucevic had developed into a steady 19-11 starter. Coaches [redacted] and Frank Vogel reduced Vucevic's minutes over the 2015-2017 seasons, mostly in response to some nagging multi-game injuries. His per-minute efficiency remained even as his counting stats dipped a bit in those seasons. A fractured hand kept him out for two months of the 2017-18 season.

Since then, Vucevic has come back stronger than ever. He has made two All-Star teams and added the three-pointer to his arsenal. In the 2020-21 season through 37 games, he's having his career-best offensive season -- 24.6 / 11.7 / 3.7 and 40.8% from the arc.
