***** ALL-TIME NBA/ABA DRAFT ***** (Scoobus is Champion!) (2 Viewers)

So it seems like we’ll more than likely finish up the draft this weekend.

Please make sure to check the Teams page on the spreadsheet to make sure everything is correct.

OFFICIAL JUDGING PLAN

- On Monday 3/22, I will kick off the 60s judging in the morning by posting all the rosters.
- Everyone has until Monday night to post info, writeups, resumes, whatever for their 60s teams.
- People who want to help in the judging (I’ll @ the non-drafters who have shown interest too) will have until 3pm Pacific Tuesday 3/23 to PM me their rankings. I will consolidate and release the results.
- Wednesday we’ll start the same process for the 70s.

You don’t have to rank every decade if you don’t want to, but I did ask everyone at the beginning to rank at least three of the decades. As you could see with some of the debates in here already, there are some differences in opinion on what should be most important when judging the different teams. The more opinions/judges the better.

28,14 Sebastian Telfair G 2000s

Playground legend of the Centu👃 :hophead: 🚔

Shoulda been true to it. Listened to folks. Could have at least stood still when he got back to Bed-Stuy - he might have been gentrified by a beardo or at least glazed w a tangerine gastrique. But NOOOOOOO.....

any thoughts to strecthing the judging a little longer. Might be good for that window, i am not sure, but i don't even know what to do to get behind and try to sell my teams.

Yeah I could give more time if that’s what people want. You don’t have to sell your team if you don’t want to.

Pencil me in for every decade.  :ninja:
I'm about to cut some fools off at the knees.

i'd like to make sure i get good placement, just not sure the best way to sell some of these pieces. and i am sure there will be back and forth with dialouge for some of the judging, so the thread can get busy i am guessing.

i think giving a little window will be good too to help people align their teams better and determine best in show and pantheon

also thinking about it, maybe we start with a few days to really work out some consensus on judging criteria. i still am trying to think if we are comparing teams based on guy's entire careers, and weighing in injury implications, looking at best seasons, etc. I think some teams would be great if they are looking at playing one season, and probably lot less if they are being judged by how they would perform for an entire decade.

If we were going to have strict criteria on the judging, we would have had to do it before we started drafting. That way people could have drafted accordingly.

I’m fine if people have different opinions of what’s important. The more judges we have, the less chance someone comes in with a completely weird way of looking at things that blows the whole process up.

I do think it’s a good idea to have a little more time between each decades judging to give some room for discussion. No need to rush things too much - I got nothing better to do right now.

ok, dont go too far @timschochetbecause i think i got these 2 quick. you too @wikkidpissah.

First is a guy i thought about last round. I worry a tad because i keep seeing a bit of some of these guys and realizing they are still around i wonder if i am the one who is off.

Hooking @Kev4029 with another Nugget (i think):

Orlando Woolridge   SF  80s

    - i love the nicknames on Basketball reference, favorite for Woodridge is probably Obocop

   - grabbed the below from some Bulls' blogs, figured with Jordan on the team might as well grab the guy who helped Jordan get into his career:

He was known for his high-flying dunks. He was a scorer. during the 1984-85 season, Woolridge averaged 22.9 points per game, teaming with rookie Michael Jordan to provide a potent 1-2 scoring punch. Together, the combined to average better than 51 points per game.

Orlando Woolridge was the No. 6 pick in the 1981 draft but got little playing time as a rookie. Once he became a full-time starter, he began to live up to expectations.
For the rest of his Bulls career, Woolridge showed his scoring ability.
During his sophomore season, Woolridge more than doubled his scoring average (16.5 PPG) and only kept improving in the following seasons, especially when Jordan arrived.
Woolridge increased his scoring average to 22 during Jordan’s rookie season, making his scoring total that year the best of his career.

29.1 Slick Watts  -  cool enough he didn't really need a new nickname:

-   Bill Russel’s cousin

  -  cool backstory with Russell getting Watts a tryout, and he signed with the SuperSonics as a free agent. After making the roster for the 1973–74 season as a reserve, he played more frequently the following season and became a starter for the 1975–76 season.

Had a beastly few seasons, one of which was that '75-'76 That season. He led the NBA in total assists, assists per game, total steals, steals per game, and made NBA All-Defense First-Team.

- first player to lead the league in assists and steals in the same season.

Sometimes Wikkid types things and I wonder if it is in English.

27.11 - Brian Winters, SG, 70s

28.06 - Fred Carter, PG, 70s  ... Nickname was Mad Dog.  Was Fred not good enough for the court?

WRITE UP

28.12 Kirk Hinrich PG 00s

1x All Defense

13/5/3/1 over an 8 year period. Solid PG who played good D. Shot 37% from 3. Not sure what else to ask for at this point in the draft.

29.03 Jonny Flynn G 2000s

Draft Pick of the centu :hophead: 💣🎖️⚰️

Sure, Garnett won a championship as soon as you got rid of him, but he wasnt gonna do it w you. AlJeff's coming into his own, KLove's looks realdeal and you got picks 5 & 6 in the draft. Everybody took who they were supposed to - let's get adventurous and jump on EuroGod Ricky Rubio, then maybe DeRozan and things'll be great. but they wont be great if Rubio decides to stay in Europe. We better get a 2nd PG. Do we go to that tourney sensation there, Dell Curry's kid? then we'd have two "if"s at the position. Let's go for the sure thing. Yeah, that's the ticket!

Chris Paul reincarnated, but faster and with more hops. People talk about the Greg Oden injury and what could have been, but this is the real one. With this pick wikkid looking to compete for one of the top spots of the decade after not drafting anyone until round 26.

just hope i dont get sniped on this sundae's cherry...

That must explain the alternate universe where Oden, Morrison, Telfair, and Flynn all had productive NBA careers.
no disrespect intended, my friend. having decided strategically to punt my least-favorite nba decade, i saw more edification in making a statement than picking at scraps

RD 29.05 **** Barnett SG 60s

1x All Star 2x NBA Champ

Averaged 16/3/3 over his 11 year peak but more important was his attitude.

As a freshman, he was given the nickname "**** the Skull". He was known for his trademark "question mark" jump shot, with an unusual technique of kicking his legs back as he released the ball with his left hand, taunting the defenders by saying, "Too late; Fall back baby".

My 60s team is a steam roller

PG Slater Martin

SG Fall Back Baby

SF The Jet

PF Bob Pettit

C Russ

Not a team even close

Um what? There are teams with hall of famers at every spot that also fit well as a team of five.
I have arguably the best C of all time, the best PF of the era by a hundred miles and one of the top 2-3 SF...in an era when front court play was all that really mattered.
