I thought it would be fun to have a discussion and series of polls about who would make the all time starting lineup of my favorite football team, the Pittsburgh Steelers, starting with quarterback. Obviously, there's really only two choices, though I did add "other" just in case.

Up through the start of last year, I would have voted for Bradshaw. But by this point in his career I believe Big Ben is the better quarterback. The way he perseveres with a terrible offensive line and not much of a running game is quite remarkable. He's the guy I want on the all time team. Feel free to disagree!

The Steelers were awful for 40 full seasons, from 1933 to 1971 they made the playoffs only once (1947, a shutout loss), never won a playoff and they had five (5) winning seasons, that's it. (Corrected).

With but a few exceptions all of the greatest at any position will come from any players active 1972 and after.

One such exception: They had Bobby Layne at QB for the last 4-5 years of his career, and he produced three of those winning seasons, he belongs on this list. But I voted for Bradshaw.

Save this for the offseason. Theres plenty actual football for us to discuss.

Null vote. The game of football played in the NFL is so different now that comparisons of the are too difficult. If you point a gun to my head I go with Bradshaw as he never lost a Super Bowl.

Hated the 70s steelers. Going with Bradshaw. That guy was so tough that he got pile driven into the ground and lived. Anyone doing that move to a QB, doesn't just get fined, they gets suspended.
