This is the same basic reason you need to increase the court/rink size of both hoops & hockey. Sure you end up losing cheap seats but you also gain a few extra court side/next to the glass seats while at the same time improving the sports.

Nothing to do with the "Order a Large" but FYI

Sam's and Costco are now getting challenged by the local BOGO's (buy one get one). Find it cheaper to shy away from Sam's and Costco at times. Walmart is even taking notice by matching these now.
