Am I taking crazy pills? (1 Viewer)

I've been doing a lot of redraft mocks and I've noticed that in every other mock there's a guy taking Ryan Grant in the 3rd round as his RB2 and telling everyone what a great pick it is. How he's a 1100/10 stat guy. How the starting job is his as soon as camp hits.

Now I've been keeping my ear to the ground about the RB situations in the league, and from what I understand the Pack is really high on Starks. They drafted Green to take the 3rd down back role. In this day and age, if there are 2 productive backs it doesn't really matter who's starting. But on a team that really likes to throw the ball, coming off an injury and with 2 younger backs that the organization is very excited about, do you think that Grant is still a high end RB2?

Um no.

In a dynasty that I have Starks & Green I haven't even considered making a move for Grant. I think at best he's in on a RBBC, I doubt he will be with the Pack next season unless he takes a pay cut.

Drafting Grant with expectations that he'll be used like he was prior to 2010 isn't wise, imo. He could end up as the RB in GB with the most touches this year, but even that isn't given at this point.

The only thing I can think of is that GB really didnt really run a RBBC until he got injured and if they are getting good running production from whoever it is, they tend to stick with them. Kuhn proved he was a baller but any runs he takes off the lead dog ain't gonna be that much. Starks showed up for the playoffs but the regular season is long. With Green, who knows? Throw in a lot of hype from this SB run and I'd think somebody take a leap of faith. That or they don't know what they are doing and overvaluing him.

At his ADP, I would not touch him with a ten foot pole. I liken his 2011 to Derrick Ward...he fit for a while, but his time was up. He will not go gracefully...I think he will drop as fast as Ward or Rudi Johnson, and I really believe 2011 will be his year.

Redraft?

I dont see any issue at all so long as people think he will, in fact, be on the team.

Its easy enough to get his handcuffs because of there are two choices to back him up with.

And on that offense the opportunities should be splendid.

Having Grant get lots of shots inside he 5 isn't too crazy of an idea.

Is is value at his draft spot in the 3rd? No. But will he last until your next pick in the 4th or 5th?

Wow, this is pretty harsh. Grant doesn't have a ton of mileage on him. Also, he's a perfect fit for this offense, at least in the running game. In fact, I feel like Grant, Starks, and Green all have similar skills when it comes to running the ball, with Green being the obviously better pass catcher.I think it's quite premature to think that a second year player with a very spotty health record, and a third round pick, are going to suddenly render Grant useless. Continues to amaze me that this guy get cracked on so much.

But if you can get Grant in the 3rd-4th, or Starks in the 11th, and they're likely to post similar stats, and Starks could take the lead in the committee anyway, isn't it much better value to grab Starks late?

Given I haven't played in a redraft in a while my experience is you don't have enough roster spots to have to backups for a mediocre talent/situation. Do most redrafts have this many roster spots these days?

I like Sstarks in the 11th better than Grant in the third, but I like Grant in the fifth or sixth better than Starks in the 11th (or 13th).
