Am I the only one that thought T. Jackson looked GOOD? (1 Viewer)

Yes, I know it's preseason. Yes, I know it was limited action.

But, just his presence in the pocked looked MUCH more comfortable and his throws and mechanics looked quite good to me. I truly think he's gonna surprise some people this year and could provide some pretty good value with how late he's going. With the addition of Berrian and growth of Rice and the amazing run game he has as support, he should have ample opportunity to make plays as long as he capitalizes on it.

Let the flaming begin :goodposting:

With the O-Line that they have in place, he definitely has all the opportunity he could ever want. He should get great protection this year and with the defenses keying on AP the whole season, the play actions ought to work to perfection. I'm not sold on Jackson's talent yet, but definitely think we'll definitely learn this season whether he can be the man or not. I also think that the one thing in his favor is that he doesn't have to be great, he just has to limit his mistakes. All of that said, I agree that he could easily better the numbers that most people project for him.

Hi Gian,

I thought he looked great. There will be no flaming. Jackson is the darling pick. I've been talking about in the email updates about the rave reviews he's been getting since minicamp. Everyone loves his improvement. I said I wanted to see it on the field. And what I saw looked good.

He did look great. The offense scored TD's on each of his drives, and he even had what might have been a Rice TD called back on Pass Interference. The Vikings said earlier in the week that they wanted to show what they had in the passing offense, and I think they did.126 rating, 75% completion percentage and a lot of yardage (for him) in the 1st quarter alone. Tarvaris would make for a great sleeper pick in redraft because that offense is going to get kicked up a notch thanks to the addition of Berrian and the improvement of Rice.TE is still going to be a huge gash in the team's offense however, so Tarvaris may struggle with his checkdowns. The O-line gave him plenty of time to make his reads yesterday. I think it's fair to expect more from Tarvaris than people had been giving him credit for.

How much of a running threat is he going to be. I can see myself taking him very late as a backup.
Not a super threat on every play but he has decent legs on him. The coaches talked about making him protect the ball more so his rushing may not creep up thanks to him throwing the ball away more.

He's looked great in past pre season games too. Will it translate to consistency in real games?

Not sure how many yards he'll gain on the ground, but if he can use his elusiveness to avoid the blitzes all the better. To buy even an extra second before throwing will do wonders for Minnesota's WR's. I saw the highlights last night and he did a great job with the play-action before he threw the TD.

I've been down on Jackson, but I agree he looked good, even assuming the vanilla scheme he was running and facing. It's early, but you'd have to think that he would be improved this year over last year.

People rarely ever consider that Jackson played at a small college and that he was extremely raw coming into the NFL. This is only his third season and when you consider where he came from, I think he has done better than could be expected. He should continue to improve. I think he has a chance to be a solid QB down the road.

I agree Jackson looked much improved from last year so far, however I did see a play or two were he was very lucky that it wasn't a turnover. If he can be consistent and not make many mistakes the Vikings will be dangerous this year.

Didn't see the game, so has he turned the corner from "manager" type QB to more of a passing threat QB?

There's no way you can draw that conclusion from the first preseason game. He looked a lot less like he was panicky and running for his life and more like he was comfortable, however.

He looked much improved, as the reports have been this off season workouts. Jackson looks like he's ready to take the big step forward.

He looked BB's way alot which is good considering the big play ability of BB

I thought he looked very good as well. I watched him very closely last year during the preseason and he looked very good. This year his WR's are better and his O-line is great...he has another year experience...as does AP...defense is better...so even if TJ plays better by NFL standards he may not have to do as much for us fantasy-wise.
