Just watched this with my son hanging over my shoulder. He just asked if we can get jibo

My wifi is too inconsistent. My house one needs a reboot at least once a week and the one at my beach house either works for a week straight or loses connection every hour.

Sex workers will be replaced with robots. And there are some early models you can buy today. I think the Japanese and Chinese are in the lead but we Americans are in the race. Check out Roxxxy on Youtube. Mostly NSFW.

 
There is no way that robots totally replace prostitutes. You can invent as many robots with as many simulated looks and feels and simulated sexual perversions but there is no limit to the number of ways guys can get bored of having orgasms before they want to try a new one and all roads lead back to the next new girl.

When the tech gets advanced enough you can have a different girl every night.

 
Jibo is an awesome first draft... proof of concept.

The trick will be making it mobile. Right now it just sits on a counter. When it can move around, adjust height.... that will be a big shift. Radar/GPS tech has evolved so that mobile versions of Jibo should be pretty slick by late 2015 / early 2016.

Functional arms will be the next tool in the chest from there. Full on robotics with ability to open doors, pick up and cary stuff, execute laborous tasks...but in an affordable/approachable format like Jibo is probably 5-8 years off. By then processing power / AI / speech control will be scary good. The SciFi fantasy of widespread adoption of a "robot butler" will be here within the next decade though. Easily.

I have seen Robot & Frank. It's a pretty cute/funny movie about an old man who is given a robot butler by his kids because they worry about him living alone.

This Jibo reminds me of that plot.

Yeah I get that. But I also think a lot of guys would settle for an extended time frame for a robotic companion over their hand. Especially if she is hotter by several orders of magnitude than anything he is going to get within talking range of. Not only hot but willing. As it becomes more acceptable it will be interesting to see how the dynamic shakes out. I prefer real but the next generation may be way more flexible on that score.

Average guy could have sex with every robot they could afford in every way they could think of, master their own domain, master their domain ONTO the robot, get two robots and make them master each others domains while he works one out in the corner, and still want to have sex with the first hot human girl he saw on the way out of his basement.
