1:29 P.M. MST: “I really don’t know,” said Shanahan when asked about the running-back situation. He said Andre Hall’s ankle sprain could have been much worse and that it was “really a credit” to him that he played, however, Hall’s injury is the dreaded high ankle sprain.

1:29 P.M. MST: Says he has no update on the status of Travis Henry.

So how long is Hall projected to be out? He is still the #3 back in Denver. Adrian Peterson is looking like a much better option on the wire.

Adrian Peterson is looking like a much better option on the wire.
Look at his remaining schedule and see if you still believe this. AP may be a safer pickup but the upside for Sapp (if Young, Henry, and Hall are limited by injury) is through the roof.

I don't disagree with you, the Broncos have a more favorable schedule and a better running attack. However, they also have 3 (if not 5) capable backs who are all injured and a coach who isn't very forthcoming. Peterson at least is the starter and will get the majority of carries. Hall is a lottery ticket.

If you read the early injury report from FBGs Hall makes it sound ike he actually wants to play through pain.

I won't reprint it without someone's ok, but he sounds liek he's ready to compete with Young for next week's start.

Whomever it is faces some really good matchups down the stretch.

Of course, I have no idea who the heck it will be....

Hall's comments were after the game whereas Shanahan's were today - likely after more tests had been done. Unless Hall is a quick healer he's likely done for a few weeks at least. High ankle sprains are nasty. Worst-case is he's done for the rest of the regular season since many of them take about 4 weeks to recover from.

Right, I should have clarified - the kid's pretty freakin tough. Or was on painkillers. :confused:High ankle sprain = bad - I agree with ya there.

Who's next in line ?
Sapp? Mike Bell?
Bell put the ball on the ground yesterday. I don't think he's in good graces right now.
Funniest thing I saw during the Bears-Broncos game was when Dierdorf used the telestrator to draw a doghouse around Mike Bell standing on the sidelines after his fumble.Still cracks me up.......
I didn't even see the game but that mental image makes me

If it isn't already somebody should make a youtube clip of that. Good stuff.

Broncos coach Mike Shanahan confirmed Monday that Andre Hall suffered a high ankle sprain in Week 12 against the Bears.

Hall, who totaled 167 rushing and receiving yards in the breakout performance, doesn't seem likely to be ready for Week 13. Coach Mike Shanahan says he's "seen guys with high ankle sprains come back and play in the coming week," and that Hall's situation will be considered day to day.Source: denverbroncos.com

This whole situation is laughable. I contend that we as a group have spent more time on this board lamenting the Denver RB situation over the years than any other single topic.... by a mile.

Shanny wants the opponent to gameplan for everything. Of course he says Hall is day-to-day. Don't tip your hand til you have to. High ankle sprains take time to heal. Whoever you are. He kept playing on it, but once the swelling and stiffness set in, you can hardly walk on it.

Hopefully Henry can go next week and give Denver a running game.

Yep. It flat-out ruins a RB's season sometimes.I have Hall, Henry and Young. I'd rather have only one of them healthy than all three of them, though that might sound strange. I don't consider Henry a factor going forward. If he doesn't get suspended, his injuries will spell doom for him.

Moreso than the Pats??
See bolded.
Touche. Waiting on you, RN, to start your weekly point spread thread.
Later tonight. The Pitt and Miami lines don't come out until everyone comes out of this game healthy.

I suffered a severe high ankle sprain on Monday November 12th playing football. I am no NFL athlete, but today the 26th was the first day I was able to even get on the stationary bike. I doubt Hall plays Sunday but god bless him if he is able to.

Do you think that ALL of these Denver RB's are really hurt, or is this a ploy to.................................. ;)

Understanding completely that RBs are different than TEs, but wasn't Owen Daniels have a high ankle sprain that didn't keep him out of a single game?

:goodposting:
Is this motivating you?Id love to get more production out of Hall, but he put up a good week, not much else you can ask for from a FA pickup.

The Denver Post reports Broncos HC Mike Shanahan ruled RB Andre Hall (ankle) out for the game Sunday against the Oakland Raiders. Hall rolled his ankle on his first carry last Sunday against the Chicago Bears. Although Hall rushed for 98 yards against the Bears, his ankle progressively worsened. He was unable to finish the game at Soldier Field and unable to practice this week at Dove Valley. Hall goes down as RB Travis Henry and backup RB Selvin Young return from injuries. Henry, the NFL's leading rusher through four games, missed the previous three games with a left knee injury. In those three games without Henry, the Broncos rushed for an NFL-leading 148.3 yards per game. Young also missed the game at Chicago with a knee injury. The Broncos finished their final practice Friday without the NFL office announcing its decision on Henry's appeal to an alleged positive test for marijuana. The team expects Henry to win his appeal. If he doesn't, the running back would be facing a one-year suspension.
