Andre Johnson Out For Week 3 (1 Viewer)

More on this from KFFL:

Texans | Johnson said he doesn't know how long he will miss

Wed, 19 Sep 2007 13:17:08 -0700

Megan Manfull, of the Houston Chronicle, reports Houston Texans WR Andre Johnson (knee) said he does not know when he will be able to return, but he has not ruled out playing Sunday, Sept. 30 against the Atlanta Falcons.
Nice.

AGreen, IMO, is the biggest fantasy benefiociaries of an injured AJ - we will also get a Walter sighting. Schaub gets a nbig downward tiock here. That is, if anyone was wondering what I thought about it. :wall:
I agree with this.I think A. Green - substantiallyO. Daniels - a littleM. Schaub - <_< substantially
I'm not so sure that is how it will play out. If I'm the Colts, I maybe go away from my Tampa 2 and put Bob Sanders in the box to take away the run and force them to beat me by throwing the ball, much like I heard they did with Tennessee.Which may mean that Houston may end up throwing the ball more just because that's what the defense may be more likely to give them. I'm not sure which way it may end up playing out, I could see Houston wanting to run the ball more, but perhaps being better off throwing.I don't think I'd downgrade Schaub much if at all for the Colts game.

Another update from RotoWire:

When asked to give a timetable on Johnson's (knee) recovery, coach Gary Kubiak sounded cautiously optimistic that his star wideout won't be out too long, the Texans' official site reports. "How long will he be out? I don’t know," Kubiak said. "I know that it’s very favorable that this could be a short-term deal. I don’t think we’ll know until he’s re-examined, which I think the re-examination is going to take place Friday..."

Johnson, who was sporting a knee brace Wednesday, has pretty much ruled himself out for Week 3, indicating that he is "going to take it day-by-day and week-by-week." We hope to know more after the results of his next knee exam become available.
Bump to see if anyone heard any results yet from the examination today? I don't expect to see AJ this Sunday but you never know... also curious as to how long they expect. Kubiak seems optimistic

Per rotoworld:Jacoby Jones has been appointed the Texans' interim starting receiver opposite Kevin Walter by coach Gary Kubiak.

With Andre Johnson (knee) sidelined for an unknown period of time, Jones will be in the starting lineup indefinitely. If the rookie capitalizes, he could pass Walter opposite Johnson when the Texans' No. 1 wideout returns. Jones should be owned in all leagues, and makes a passable WR3 in Week 3.

(Rotoworld) Andre Johnson's sprained knee will be examined again on Friday, and the Texans expect to provide a timetable for when he may return then.

Impact: He could miss anywhere from one week to one month. "I know that it's very favorable that this could be a short-term deal," coach Gary Kubiak said after practice Wednesday. "I don't think we'll know until he's re-examined."

Anyone know if Texans hold a regular press conference Fridays and if so, when it might be?? I would think he has already be re-examined today. I'm getting impatient!

Kubiak speaking to media after practice today (as per Texans website):

(on if there are any updates on WR Andre Johnson) “Actually, they are going to visit with him today. The doctor is coming over today. They’ll take the immobilizer off and see where he’s at. But we’re just keeping our fingers crossed that they’ll walk out with some good news. ”

5 weeks sounds like a long time for an injury that isnt even swollen, no?
That is the worst case scenario, which coach said was unlikely... talked about AJ being a quick healer / hard worker and they wouldnt expect it to take that long. But that is the worst case scenario nonetheless.

ANY UPDATES AS FAR AS TIME FRAME FOR AJ ??????????
We won't really know anything until Wed at the earliest. Probably won't know definitively that he can play until Friday or even GTD - he may be ruled out earlier than that, though.

I'm surprised some updates saying possibly 4 weeks?? I thought he had NO SWELLING. This to me indicates the sprain wasn't that bad??

Hasn't this all been discussed already? What part of UP TO do people not understand? It is LIKELY that AJ will come back sooner, maybe a lot sooner. It is still POSSIBLE that in a WORST CASE SCENARIO the injury lingers and he loses another 4 weeks.Chances are it will be less but they can not be SURE of that. Can people stop expecting every minute of every day to be chock full o' updates. Be patient, when ANYone gets ANYword I am sure we will hear it here immediately.

From the Houston Chronicles Chat Transcript this morning on the Texans:
ifotophan: didn't AJ get reexamined on Friday? - never heard the details.

Megan_Manfull: From my understanding, there wasn't any change in the status. He was still in the immobilizer during the whole game Sunday. That's not likely a good sign for him being back this week. Worst-case scenario is that he will miss four more games.
That looks to be the latest on AJ. They said more information will come out around 2:30-3:30 CST after the players are available for interview and the press conference.

I haven't heard anything after his scheduled MRI Fri, I wasn't expecting updates every minute. Take your Zoloft and relax.

UPDATE:

I heard AJ just walked from the couch to the fridge to grab a Gatorade. First hand accounts indicate there was a slight limp in his walk but he appeared to be in good spirits

(I agree with Koya)

:bump: :excited:
Any new info on this? I need to find a replacement if he's going to be out.

Were his Friday MRI results discussed anywhere?

Wasn't he supposed to be removed from the imbolizer by Friday also? I take it its a bad sign he's still in it.

Sep 24 Megan Manfull, of the Houston Chronicle, reports Houston Texans WR Andre Johnson (knee) is likely out for Week 3. He just barely started bending his knee Sunday, Sept. 23. Sep 24 Johnson (knee) will remain in an immobilizer through Tuesday or Wednesday and is considered "doubtful" for this week's game against Atlanta, according to head coach Gary Kubiak, the Texans' official site reports.Recommendation: "As far as Andre (Johnson), he’s still on the immobilizer today. I think we’ll take him off that tomorrow or the next day; then we’ll start to go day-to-day and see what kind of progress he makes. I would think he’s still doubtful as we go into this week," said Kubiak. Johnson missed Sunday's loss to the Colts. With him and Jacoby Jones (shoulder) expected to be out, Andre' Davis, Jerome Mathis and Kevin Walter will see most of the action at wideout.

Sep 25 Johnson (knee) will not play this week against the Falcons, the Houston Chronicle reports.Recommendation: Sunday was the first day Johnson was able to bend his left knee since suffering the injury Sept. 16. He sprained the posterior cruciate ligament and medial collateral ligament in the knee, and must wait until they both heal. "It's like I'm learning to walk normally again," Johnson said. "I've been in a brace for the whole week. Now, I have slack in my brace where I can bend my knee."
