Andre Johnson (1 Viewer)

I have had patch work success at WR to get me through Johnson's injury, but has anyone heard anything concrete?

Schaub is also supposed to be coming back. At one point Kubiak said before the week 9 game that Johnson could play, but the team probably decided it was better to let him rest through the bye. He may not be completely 100% but he should be more than healthy enough to have a real nice game against an awful pass defense.

listen for yourself...coach says johnson looks like his old self at practice
If there is anyone out there like me who sat on him for these past few weeks, it will be hard to not start him this week and just hope. Johnson seems like the type of guy who "could" carry a team through the fantasy playoffs this year, and i would hate to have him explode against NO and be sitting on my bench. Certainly it could work both ways, but if you are an owner how do you sit him this week?

:goodposting: I'm doubling up with Schaub and AJ. Two words: Jason David

All the AJ owners who suffered for so long would be stupid not to start him now that he's back.

I'm starting him.

Ditto.Love the matchup. Love the fact that they gave him the extra game (which amounted to two weeks with the bye) to get ready. Love that Schaub is back, too.

Had him since the draft. Also have TO, Bowe(FA), Cotchery(draft), Hackett and Javon. Don't know who will start this week.

Not if they have better options. Pain should not be a reason to start any player.
That goes without saying. If you have Moss, TO, Housh, AJ in a start 3 WR league, then sure sit AJ.

Chances are he was drafted as a WR#1 or WR#2, so not too many teams will have better options.

If you're like my team, you are dying to get this guy back in your lineup.

Pick 6 (1 RB, 1 WR, 1 TE and 3 flex) from this roster and tell me I have better options...

RB Justin Fargas

RB Larry Johnson

RB Thomas Jones

RB Adrian Peterson

RB Derrick Ward

WR Arnaz Battle

WR Lee Evans

WR Marvin Harrison

WR Andre Johnson

WR David Patten

WR Antwaan Randle-El

TE Dallas Clark

TE Ben Watson

Doesn't AJ normally line up on the right side of the offensive formation? In that case, he'd be defended by Mike McKenzie. He's not Champ Bailey, and he can be beat, but he's certainly an upgrade over Jason David.

There are if he aggravates the injury. I don't like starting players coming back from long injuries the first week. I may start DJ Hackett this week. You can start whoever you like.

Hes ready...they wouldn't have contemplated starting him before the bye if he was'nt very close then and now its 2 weeks later.

Hes %100

They got an extra 2 weeks of recovery for him by sitting him out vs Oakland week 9, and they still won. He was ready then, I'm thinkin he's mega ready 2 weeks later vs. New Orleans. I'm starting him for sure.

Houston mixes up Johnson's positioning. Not an Indy type situation.

I don't know the reasons, but doesn't Andre usually disappear during the FF playoffs in seasons past? His stats for December are horrible compared to Sept - Nov.

Schaub != CarrHe was drafted as your number one receiver for a reason. Let's not lose sight of that fellas.

I would actually be interested in seeing those stats if you have them. That said, this year would be seemingly different for him than years past anyway, given his missing as many games as he has. That is not to say that the trend will not continue, anything is possible.

I cant imagine why someone would`nt start him...he is a special talent , huge and fast with great hands...him at 80% (i thnk he must be as close to 100% as he can right now)is still better than most other healthier wr`s. It`s not like he`s going against the steelers defense...this is a great 1st game for him to get his mojo back. Lets not forget he gets his QB back also and we know how those 2 look together.....i dont like predicting yards and td`s but i do expect a good game from him.

As a Texans' fan, I am going to do this off the top of my head. Remember Houston has not played a game matters to the Texans past Thanksgiving (well really Halloween) ever.2006- the team took the ball out of Carr's hands and ron Rayne played his best 4 game stretch in his career.

2005- I believe he was injuried

2004- Carr started off hot and fizzled down the stretch with dom Davis becoming the focus of the offense.

i'll be starting him and banking a tremendous fantasy football come back on him...was murdered all season with him and SJax sitting on my bench, traded away tom brady when i was 1-4 for brees, MBIII, and gonzo, managed to patchwork myself back to 5-5, and now my starts return gloriously to carry me through to the playoffs...

i have a whole hell of a lot of isht talking riding on AJ, haha...hoping he comes through, i feel really good now about sitting week 9, i hated it then...but i pulled off two more wins in between and now i'm loving, really hoping for week 1 and 2 #'s from him

My WR situation hasn't been all that comforting. I've got AJ, S. Smith, Marshall, Bowe and Roddy White in a 3 WR league. To say his return is welcomed is probably the understatement of the year. This guy put up 20+ pts in week 1 & 2 and I'd be happy if he averaged 12 pts for the rest of the way, especially with Purple Jesus being gimpy.

I'm not going to. Benching Steve "I miss Jake" Smith for Johnson. Sort of the opposite situation there, never thought I'd be benching Smith but how can I keep him in there? He's sitting behind Welker too.

"I'm ready to go; there's no doubt about it. You can't be tentative. I'm planning to throw caution to the wind and play with the same vigor as before the injury."

Johnson, who made the Pro Bowl last season after leading the NFL with 103 catches, is planning to make up for lost time.

"I wouldn't say I'm 100 percent, but I'm good enough to play without any problems," Johnson said. "I feel good. The next six days are key for me, but I don't think I'll be limited in any way."

Before he was injured, Johnson had 14 catches for 262 yards (18.7 average per catch) and three touchdowns.

"To be honest, I'm not even really worried about my knee," he said. "When I'm out there playing, I'm not really thinking about it. I'm concentrating on just trying to make sure my technique and the depth of my routes are the same as when I left.

"You tend to do things faster because you're so anxious to make a play, but at the same time, you don't want to do anything crazy to hurt your team."

:football: That's not a good reason to start someone.

IMO it makes more sense if you have a decent replacement to wait and see how AJ does his first week back.

After not having him for 8 weeks...I don't see how you can't be ready beyond belief to get him into that lineup. Most teams should be desperate for him to produce huge going foward, and save some seasons. AJ at 75-80% would be better than most options, I'd say he's as close to 100% as he's going to be this year.

Thanks for the update on your team too! You people that think people care about your team need to be tortured with a cattle prod.

Two things.Monkeysee, you're right - nobody cares about someone's specific team. You guys please keep the talk on the player and not on your team. Discussion needs to be relevant to everyoneSecond thing - you can make that point and be a lot more cool about it.J

Coming off a pretty severe injury? I'd have to disagree with this statement...
Construx ran the numbers and found that players whose names appeared on the injury report as questionable, but who wound up playing anyway, actually wound up scoring just a fraction ABOVE their season average. I'm not a believer in players being slowed by injury (at least, not as far as fantasy football is concerned). Whether AJ is listed as Doubtful or Probable, if he's playing, I'm starting him.
