Andre Johnson (1 Viewer)

The last time these 2 teams played, Titans held him to 2 catches 20+ yards. He was targetted 12 times in that game, which means there was no lack of opportunity, simply the Ten DBs are skilled enough to stop him.

So, in the playoffs, do you start him with confidence this week? Always tough to bench a stud....so do not tell me "never bench your studs". Just look at how well Romo played last week against a great D....some stud ah?

It is easier to lose a game when a marginal player on your bench scores 30+ points (Cotchery, Breaston, Holmes etc) then to lose when a guy you should have had in your lineup to begin with(AJ) scores 30+ on your bench.

At the risk of making this a WDIS thread, my choices are not marginal. Have to choose 2 WRs, 2 RBs and 1 Flex (in a PPR league) from Forte, Mike Turner, Westbrook, Antonio Bryant, Marvin Harrison, Marques Colston, Andre JohnsonCurrently going with Westy, Forte, Turner, Antonio Bryant and Marques ColstonHow can I bench Mike Turner (against the Bucs who just gave up 4 rushing TDs and 250 yards or so on the ground vs Panthers)? How can I bench Antonio Bryant coming off 9 catches/200 yards/2 TDs, against the Falcons? How can I bench Westy or Forte? So Colston is the only one, but the Bears have had some major pass D issues, and I can see Colston going off here in prime time. Tough tough decisions :goodposting:Even Harrison vs Det is tough to bench. :)

There are very few receivers I would leave AJ on the bench for and I don't see any of them on your roster.

Same problem. Leaving him on the bench for Bush and SJax, to go with Fitz and MJD.. ( I know, 10 team league- not 6) I like the 12 targets he had last time, I just dont like the limited T.O.P. based on CJ3 and Fatdale running it all game.

You just made this a WDIS thread. :lmao:
And to make matters worse, there was nary an "I'll answer yours". :)

No seriously.....Ten pass D does scare me. I cannot afford a 2 catch 20+ yard game from AJ and I expect Titans to be ball control on O running it all day. Don't you think so?

In the first game against them this year, he dropped 2 would-be touchdowns, and Schaub threw another one too soon to him. He could have been a beast that game.

How about if you also had Jennings and Marshall ?
 and Calvin Johnson. Those are my 4 top WRs. Andre starts always.

So who would you bench, since so many of you think Andre is the automatic starter against the team that is ranked 32 for pts given to WRs from a FF perspective?

Forte; Westy; Mike Turner; Antonio Bryant; Marques Colston

Bryant? Geez....if he goes off for another 100+ 2 TD day?

I'd probably bench Colston.

I have the same problem. Would you bench Steve Smith or Boldin for him this week? Because right now he's on my bench

Bench him. I have him, Owens, Eddie Royal, and Desean Jackson, and I'd start all three over him.

The definition of a stud is someone who produces no matter the matchup (and if they don't produce, it's simply because they had a bad day). AJ is awesome, and in the middle of the season he was HUGE, but he's facing a team that gave up 29 yards to him the last time these teams played. He's a receiver, and that's the problem with receivers; as good as they are, they always have that nothing game in them at some point.

To me, the best part of fantasy football is making a bold move like benching a supposed "stud" and watching it pay off. If you won, you won because of your own intelligence and balls and not because you did something 95% of people would've done with the same roster.

That doesn't make much sense though. First of all... WR don't produce every week anyways... whey will always have a down week. Second, AJ did simply have a bad day the first time that he played Tenn. He was thrown to 12 times, and simply had a bad game trying to catch the ball. He dropped TWO touchdown passes in that game. If he catches those two, his game obviously would have been quite different.

Getting lucky by making bad decisions will catch up with you over time.Making good decisions pays off over time.Does this mean AJ will have a great game? Certainly not but he's a better bet than 95+% of receivers to put up a monster night.

lol, NOW it's a WDIS thread.Seriously though, Tennessee defense didn't slow him down at all last time. He just had the droppsies. With the crew you seem to be sporting, you might not have too many issues regardless of whom you play. However, there's no way in the world I'd ever bench Johnson for Bryant. Don't go chasing last week's stats.

The Texan's are on a roll right now. AJ, Daniels & Walter should all have decent weeks. I expect Daniels to have the best week as the Titans will be concentrating on stopping Slaton & the wide receivers. I forsee Kubiak running Slaton early to bring the linebackers up, then stretching the field with AJ & Walter. This will leave Daniels open in the 20-30 yard gaps between the line of scrimmage and the deep routes AJ & Walter will be running. At least that's .02 cents worth.

Another thing to consider. The Titans already have the # 1 seed locked up. Don't expect Fisher to play all his starters the whole game. He does not want to risk injury going forward.

We shall see !

I believe this is incorrect. They have a bye locked up (1st or 2nd seed) but do not have home field advantage lockup up (1st seed) as of yet.

Plenty to still play for.

My bad, You are correct.

Has anybody doubting him considered that with a surging Texans offense (looking for respectability to end the season, which is big for them) that Johnson might want to make up for that bad game by putting forth an even bigger effort? It would be huge for them to defeat the top team in the AFC, so I expect them to go all out for the win. That means throwing to their best receiving weapon.

If it's true that he saw 12 targets in the least game, that's an even better sign. If you could guarantee me 12 targets, I'd start receivers a lot worse that Andre Johnson. How do you not start this guy in PPR, especially when someone mentioned Turner, who has an whopping four receptions on the season?

If I was facing a guy who had Andre Johnson, I'd be hoping he'd bench him.

I wish I knew what to do with Matt Schaub against the titans. do I bench a guy who just threw for 400 yards in his first game back after a month off? because he had a terrible game the first time vs. the titans. granted, i think he's a better player than he was then ... should johnson have had two TDs the first time or could he have had two TDs and the Titans D made good plays?

Owens is the only one that you should even consider starting over AJ this week.AJohnson is one of the three best receivers in all of football. If you lose in the playoffs because your stud receiver happens to have an off-game, so be it. It happens. But, if you end your season because you tried to be cute and start a guy like Desean Jackson and he has a bad game, you'll regret it all winter, spring, and summer.

This is very good information and I did not know this. Thank you Jon.

No disrespect to Jon or you, but I brought up this fact in real time and I continued saying it throughout the season whenever anyone doubted my man AJ.Now is also a great time to dispel the "AJ can't stay healthy" nonsense that proliferated in the wake of last season's unfortunate knee sprain.

Congrats on being a smarty pants

Not meant that way, just surprised that this isn't common knowledge among AJ owners considering how often it was mentioned...

I'm nervous with AJ this week as well, I think they limit him and Walter and Daniels is the only one with a good day. I see 3 for 26 :goodposting:

Last year at this time the Texans went on the road to play the Titans. Despite a slightly tender left knee, AJ went for 9/116/1 against the Titans.

No disrespect taken bro. I'm a long time Titans fan and watched the game. Just passing along my knowledge to help my fellow sharks.

YESSSS....thanks fellas!!!!

Started Antonio Bryant and Andre Johnson....both with more than Colston already. Mike Turner gets me a TD too. And Forte + Westy.

Geez....everyone on my team decides to explode :X

Guys i am so pissed, i benched Andre at the last second for Devon Bess who had a great matchup!!!

PS if you think i am serious than maybe i am

Why would ANYONE even think of benching the #1 WR in the league??????

Out thinking yourself costs you games.
