Andre Johnson (1 Viewer)

I missed the Monday night game. I was informed he reinjured his ankle late but still played thru. I don't find that so reassuring since the same thing happened to PT and well...you know. Does anyone have any insight to his current status for this week or from here on out?

Four players — receiver Andre Johnson (ankle), defensive end Mario Williams (hip), tight end Owen Daniels (hamstring) and linebacker Xavier Adibi (hamstring) — didn't practice Wednesday.

Johnson may not practice this week, but he's expected to play against San Diego. Williams and Daniels are also expected to be back by then.

The injury happened on the reception that put him over 100 yards. Man, I don't pretend to have intimate knowledge, I'm just going by what I saw. He was limping so badly to the sidelines, he almost didn't mae it off under his own power.

That said, he took one play off and then jogged back out and you would have thought it was the same guy coming off of 4-5 weeks of rest. He really sucked it up. And I think he'll continue to do so unless/until he does further damage to it. Moral of the story, I'm not benching Andre until Andre benches Andre.

He has been dealing with the same injury all season and is still putting up WR1 numbers. Play him until it is official that he won't play.

The ankle is and has been tender since he first rolled it... This past week if you watch the TD play and slow it down, it is the step in the endzone you see him aggitate it as he kind of steps awkwardly... I happened to catch on the first replay and my wife made fun of me as I gasped saying "NO."

He will continue to attempt to play through it and will take some time off during the week to give it rest.

This isn't true. He never caught a pass after the re-injury.

I guess the question becomes while he is putting up decent wr1 numbers, they aren't as strong has his numbers in the past. If he is 85% of what he normally is, do you trade him before your league's trade deadline on name only?

Sure he did....he aggitated on the TD play.... then after that it was more tender, he was tackled on another completion and that is where he really felt it and went off, but it was first injured after the TD play and you can even see him limping slightly after he gets up from it.

My eyeballs saw the same thing.

You guys are right. Both he and Kubiak said during the Td catch, he caught it in the turf and it started hurting, then again on the last catch...... However, they keep saying that with his brace on he isn't doing any damage- just the soreness flares up, then dies down at times. Kubiak said they have a plan in place to manage it during the week and had always planned on him taking some practice off this week because of the short week. I wish he was 100%, but I think it's about as good as it going to get for him- and he's still putting up #'s

He tweaked it twice.

Kubiak didn't say anything about AJ not practicing today at his presser.. Yesterday he said the plan all along was for him to take it easy this week. Anyone here if he did or did not practice?

(on today’s practice) “We had a good practice today. OD (TE Owen Daniels) did not practice. (LB Xavier) Adibi did not practice. (DT) Earl (Mitchell) and (DE) Jesse (Nading) did. They are getting better as the week goes on. We’ll know about the other two tomorrow

Darn good post.

Johnson is a beast. He limped off the field looking BADLY hurt, then came back in a handful of players later like nothing was wrong with him. Very impressive. I have no horse in this race, but I say the guy plays this week and plays well.

Okay, if this many people all saw the same thing, then I was mistaken. Apologies. Sounds like the last catch he may have re-re-re?-tweaked it.

He returned to practice today... limited, but for them to even have him out there is good news..

Andre Johnson (ankle) returned to Texans practice on Thursday after sitting out on Wednesday, according to NFL.com's Nick Scurfield. He was limited.

Our View: This is great news, since it was reported earlier in the day that he may not practice at all this week. Never expected to sit out this weekend, he remains an elite start despite his injury.

You're correct.. he tweaked it on the TD catch and again as they drove down late trying to score when he caught the ball to get HOU down closer to scoring (they didn't end up scoring though). He went off after the catch limping REALLY badly as others said--could barely make it off the field. They were showing him on the sidelines grimmacing in pain but he was standing/keeping weight on it--he was bending over grimmacing. He came back on with HOU (I think) in or near the redzone and driving... He seemed perfectly fine as others said--jogged on with no noticable limp (which fits with the pain flares up and goes away thing)... 1 or 2 plays later IND sacked Schaub and got the fumble recovery... but AJ was in the game and running routes when that happened...

They also showed him on the field after the game talkng to the other team players, no limp, standing on both feet... It reminds me of the 1st game after he hurt it, he would tweak it, miss a few plays, then come back.. After the game he said the trainers had told him before the game that he wouldn't damage it more, that it would flare up- for him to come off the field and let it ease up, then go back out.....He keeps saying that with his brace on, he isn't doing any damage, just the soreness flares suddenly, he lets it die down and is good to go-- it might be that way for the rest of hte season.
