Quez how do you fit all those on your phone?
I haven't really been monitoring sizes but I think the EVO has 4gigs and an 8gig SD card... If I fill up the phones HD then I will just start putting them on the SD and get a bigger SD if necessary. Hopefully the 32 micro SD cards come down in price soon.

FYI, new update to Google Goggles speeds up barcode reading, will search for info based on images in advertisements, and will solve sudoku puzzles if you snap a picture of the whole thing.

Whoa, that Tasker one looks sweet
This could add unlimited customization to the your smartphone. This is on my list of aps to get when I have some time to set it all up.I
Thought this looked awesome as well. I will admit that I was a bit overwhelmed by their website. So if you set some nice stuff up, please let us know.
I just got this and set up a few new task. We will see how it goes but hee are the rules I set,-brightness, - all the way up when plugged in

-brightness - 30% when battery under 70%

-speaker- volume off when headset out.

I set up wifi up to be on when I am home but this and the bluetooth times (commute to work) I need to mess around with more. I have the times but I need to set the days.

I'm thinking about setting my alarm song for different days,

-Monday - Come Monday Jimmy Buffet

-Tuesday - Tuesdays gone

turn the phone upside down to return to the home screen, tilt 90 degrees to the left and back
this looks cool

Google Gestures is my new favorite ap. You just write out a letter on your screen and the contacts with those letters start showing.

Is there a way to setup your queue for Google Listen on your computer or online, and then have it automatically download those through the app?

Yes, set up your queue in Google Reader and it shows up in Listen. Exactly how I manage my Podcasts. Listen has been giving me problems lately, so I shopped around a bit. There doesn't seem to be a clear "best" podcaster.

I use Tasker and have set up a number of Profiles/Tasks.

I have it set to recognize my home SSID, once it does, it turns off mobile data and turns on WIFI. When I leave the SSID, it turns off WIFI and turns on Mobile Data.

When I plug in my headphones, a menu pops up with all my apps that relate to listening. I also set up the screen to stay on when I'm plugged in and either PowerAmp or Pandora are on so I can see what's playing.

I set up a Gesture that opens my e-mail application when I "flip" the phone horizontal to the ground.

I set it up to go silent if I place the phone face down on weekdays from 8-6 (work). I also have it set to vibrate while my calendar shows me busy during work hours.

Set to have GPS turned on when I open Maps, Navigation, RunKeeper, etc.

Finally, I have 2 widgets set up - one for games the other for root tools - that when pressed provide a menu with applications I chose.

This thing is really powerful adn there's a lot of discussions out on the web with ideas.

I had an OTA update this morning on my EVO and now i have a Blockbuster and Kindle app on my phone. I hate this force fed crap. I certainly hope it isn't like the Nascar app that i can't get rid of. Why don't they just ask at the end of the update which if any you want? I know the answer i'm just venting.I still love swiftkey. It seems to get better every day at word predictions. I can tell it is learning the way i text/email and uses my previous habits in predicting. Between Swiftkey and Vlingo i spend much less time actually on the keyboard!I just upgraded the wife to the EVO for Christmas ann that was the first app i put on her phone. I made a list of the ones i have loaded on my phone for her to consider and i was amazed at how many i loaded that i rarely if ever use. Time for a cleanup!!
This is the main reason I rooted my phone. It's nice to decide what is one and not on my phone. Well that and the tethering.

$4.99 may seem like a lot to pay for a music player, but PowerAMP is extremely cool. I found it because I was looking for something that would play .flac files. It does that, but it's impressive in every other way as well. Highly customizable. A zillion options (including a ten-band equalizer), but still intuitive.

There's a free trial. It's worth downloading and playing around with.
Love it except for one thing... bluetooth. I have bluetooth in my vehicle and as soon as I start it up, this app begins to play over my bluetooth connection. Its incredibly annoying that I have to shut it off every single time. Any ideas?
Under the app's settings, go to Headset Options, and uncheck the option to resume on headset connection.
Already tried that one. :D
MixZing does that randomly when I have headphones plugged in...it will just start playing a song. Even when I have tunedin radio playing. Its odd.
On your Droid, go to Settings | Wireless & Networks | Bluetooth Settings. In the bluetooth devices section long press on your bluetooth device and select Options when it pops up. Under profiles, clear the check mark next to the Media option.

That may work but I have that problem withou bluetooth also, if I have stereo headphones plugged in or my desk speakers, mixzing will just randomly start playing, so will my google listen on occassion

Can you explain this a little more please. Does it recognize your SSID? How do I figure out what mine is?

Yeah, I just priced them this morning and was shocked... I really wanted one, but I am not paying $100 for it.

Why would I want to clear that every day and turn it back on when I get in the car?I stream tuned in or music through bluetooth in the car.I turn off bluetooth as I leave my care.Plug in headphones and walk to work...have them going all day while at my desk on tuned in...but from time to time, mixzing will just start playing. Its not often, maybe once a week. Just odd.

I've been using BeyondPod for well over a year now. Very reliable and constantly tweaked with new features.

how do you manage podcasts through google reader?
Easy Peasy. You can do it through your phone or PC.This is how to do it through the PC.

Go to GoogLe Reader.

Bottom Left you will see subscriptions

There is a button top left of the page that says ADD Subscritpion - CLick it

A box will drop down - enter the podcast you want to follow

For example (Sportsguy - http://sports.espn.go.com/espnradio/podcas...ast?id=2864045)

This will now show up in your subscriptions.

Click manage subscriptions at the bottom

This will bring up a page with your podcast links.

Change the folder to Listen Subscriptions

Now when you open up listen on your phone it will be there.

You can then set sync times, options etc etc.

Set up a Profile called Wifi Near. When asked for the Context, select "State". Scroll to the bottom and you'll see a Wifi Near option. Click that, then next to SSID you should see a magnifying glass. Click that and then choose your router's SSID.

Yup, I have that part setup just fine. But in Google Listen under My Listen Items, there is a Queue (Items to play continuously) and there are Fresh Items. I was wondering if there is a way to manage THAT queue (not just the items that show up in My Listen Items) without having to go to the phone and move stuff to the queue there. I do a lot of listening at times where I don't want to have to dig the phone out, find another podcast, click play, put it away...I like it to just continue playing, and it seems like if I don't have items in the queue it just stops.Maybe with Tasker? :goodposting:

Or you could try BeyondPod. There are options to play the next downloaded podcast. It also integrates with Google Reader just fine.

Just got a Mortola Droid 2 and love the thing. Questions about the music apps

1) Why is it that you can download for free? I assume it's a file sharing thing, but how is this different from Napster?

2) can you download any song from your Droid to the computer and then put on your Ipod? Can't see how that gets around copyright laws. If that's the case.....there is no reason to every buy a song though Itunes store.

3) What is the best thing to use to hook up your Droid to play through your car stereo?

4) Can you download multiple songs at the same time.....I have using the Music Box app and appears to be one song at a time.

5) Is there a music app that can search by album? Music Box only can by artist and song.

Best things I got out of it was: overclocking the cpu (speed!!), getting rid of unwanted apps that can't be removed normally and blocking ads. There's more but that's what I wanted out of it.
Overclocking and removing ads are two of the reasons that I wanted to do it. Can you or anyone else help with this now that I have it rooted?

I'm not rooted now so I forget most of it, but for over clocking go to the market and buy setcpu. Very good app. I'll have to think how I did the ad block. Must have been an app.

There's an app called Adfree. If you're newly rooted, I highly suggest googling "best apps for rooted phone". Titanium backup is a must have also.

Well, after a couple of days, I finally got through the thread, got rooted, and am generally pretty happy with it. Some things that I have and like:

AdFree - Self-explanatory

Advanced Task Killer

Angry Birds

AppBrain App Market - Just downloaded, but supposed to be better than the regular Market

ASTRO File Manager

ChessFree

Dolphin Browser HD

Dropbox

DX/D2 Overclocker - Got my Droid X to 1.3 Ghz easily and stable

EPL Buddy

Fast Web Installer

iMDB

Movies (Flixter)

Newegg

NFL Mobile

Pandora

Queue Manager (Nice Netflix app)

Root Explorer

Sunday Ticket

Tasker (can't wait to play around with this)

Titanium Backup

Uninstaller

Urbanspoon

Wireless Tether

z4root

Next up...........figuring out how to make my own custom boot animation.

I saw a tax app somewhere that scans your w-2 and puts it into...turbotax? taxslayer? taxact? I don't know. Sorry only part of the details

Not sure much on your other questions. On this, Im using a Motorola T505 Bluetooth. Can use it on its own as a speakerphone...or the preferred way with the FM transmitter and playing it through your car speakers. It will pause whatever you are listening to if you get a call and play the call through the speakers as well.

It has been working well so far and seems to have pretty solid battery life.

I use this as well. Absolutely love it. In fact, am getting the wife one for her birthday

My next thing is bluetooth headphones.

But have not been happy with the results in that search.

Some of it will be for at work...which there are plenty of options.

The problem is, I would also like to get the small adapter for my iPod Nano and use the headphones for running. This seems to be the sticking point so far.

My phone is rooted, but Verizon keeps wanting me to update the OS. I have an updated OS... Is there a way to turn off update notifications?

Sorry if you guys already discussed this. Is there any way to prevent these damn thing from randomly deleting all of your text messages? Happens to me probably once every 3 weeks or so. It's not that I really need the old texts, but being able to control that would be nice.

Also, TuneIn only saves my preset stations for about 3 days and then they disappear. What's up with that?
