AndroidTapp.com Android App Review:

Pros & Cons:

Pros

[*]Watch hundreds of full length TV shows on your phone!

[*]Stream high quality video from several online sources

Features:

TV Shows Stream is an awesome app for watching full length television shows on your phone! Videos are pulled from Internet sources like Megavideo, Frogmovz and Karambavidz and show high quality streams over 3G cellular connections. The free version offers only 12 pre-selected shows to view from while the full is not limited. I'm impressed with the amount of TV shows it finds. Search or browse through listings. TV Shows Stream supports Bookmarks so you can add a show or series to your list of bookmarks to access them directly. Plus you can check if new episodes has been released.

Tip: when loading the video players, ignore all other buttons and press green "Play" button to avoid the run-around. Avoid 72 min Megavideo limit if you have Megavideo premuim account.

Usefulness:

I like to compare TV Shows Stream app to a mini-Netflix for TV shows apps. Great while commuting or traveling, especially those that are addicted to series formatted broadcasts. You no longer have to catch your show on the tube. This technology allows you to catch up anytime… anywhere!

Ease of Use & Interface:

The user interface of searching and filtering for your favorite shows is very intuitive. However, there are some areas to avoid when viewing Megavideo vids (see tip above) plus there are a ton of tiny icons along the video screen that are unnecessary when watching a show. Luckily those can easily be toggled off.

I need some advice on some apps. I have a Droid X which I recently rooted. I am looking to see what the best or most popular startup monitoring tool is. I just downloaded the free version of Startup Auditor and I don't mind the adds but apparently the free version only allows me to disable 5 items. I don't mind buying the right app for this job, but I want to make sure I have a good one.

Since I rooted my phone I also added, Barnecle Wifi Tethering, Rom Manager and Titanium Backup. Any other must haves for a rooted Droid X?

TIA,

Sushi

for those with EVOs, they announced you can trade in and upgrade to the 3D EVO for $99 at radio shack (with a 2 year sprint renewal). I have no idea what the difference with the 3D and regular EVO (other than the 3D) though
A faster, dual core processor is the big difference, but it also has Gingerbread and the new Sense. Also a higher res screen, 1080p HD video, more onboard storage, a bigger battery, and more RAM.
Hmm...almost seems like a no-brainer for someone who likes the EVO.May have to look into this.

Started looking at it on HTC...the no-kickstand may be a dealbreaker. That and needing a new case. Yes, I keep mine in a hard case. Was about to take it out of it then dropped it twice in a few day period. The protective case has a small crack, phone is fine. Glad I had the case on it.I think Id like the faster processor, bigger batter (though, would it drain the same considering the upgrades?) and upgraded screen. Not sure I need the 3d or 1080 video though.

You can get it for free basically at the 199 price if u sell the Evo on Ebay. Lazy people will hand it in for 99 but anyone with an Ebay account should sell on Ebay and get 100 bucks more

Question for anyone who has used video chat on their Android devices:

I'll be out of the country for a week and I'll have a netbook with a front facing camera. My wife will have her EVO. Is skype the best video chat app that would allow us to talk (understand she would need to be on wifi)

If you sell now. When Ebay gets flooded with Evo's when the 2 comes out the market price may very well drop to below $99.

no chance it drops below 150The Evo is a solid media player besides a phone. Has flash and all that stuff.Old crap phones like my Palm Pre from 3 years ago are selling for 99 bucks

Forgot where I read it...I'll try to find it

But the EVO 3D will have a locked bootloader. Could be awhile before you can root it.

ETA Link - now it sounds like they're reconsidering

Richard Lai http://www.blogsmithmedia.com/www.engadget.com/media/writer_rss.gif' alt='a>'> posted May 25th 2011 12:40AM http://www.engadget.com/2011/05/25/evo-3d-shipping-with-locked-down-bootloader-but-htc-may-reconsi/

We've got some good news and some bad news. Let's do the bad news first: much like the Sensation, Thunderbolt, and Incredible S, Android Police has confirmed that the upcoming HTC EVO 3D will also be sporting a locked down bootloader of similar fashion, meaning custom ROM modders will have a hard time glamming up said phone. Not that anyone should be surprised by this finding though, given the sad trend. That said, there is still hope: earlier today, HTC announced on Facebook that it's "reviewing the issue and our policy around bootloaders" -- looks like someone's pulled a page out of Sony Ericsson's good book. If all goes well, we'll just have to wait and see whether HTC will beat Motorola to making their fans smile again.]

Skype does not work on Android yet. Also, with an Evo, I am pretty sure you have to be rooted for Google Chat video to work.

There sure is - I have it on my Evo, and it works great.... besides for the video chat function, which is not currently (or fully, or something like that) enabled on Android. I seem to recall Verizon supporting Skype video chat at some point, but I am unsure as to the full extent of it. I am pretty sure it is only on their LTE network.

Let me know how it works, I want to do something similar. My current plan involves waiting for the Gingerbread OTA update for Evo then using Gtalk.

Worked pretty well....make sure the EVO is connected to WIFI, b/c on the regular 3G it was just ok.Good enough for a free solution IMO

That's awesome! I am doing this tonight. I have Skype, Qik, and Google Chat on my evo, and none of them work yet. :( P.S. your last reply was the limit for nested quotes

Video chat or just "text chat". Text chat Google talk works fine.

I just paid for this app last night and I was telling my coworker and they asked me if is a one time fee or does it renew and that is a good question. Does anyone here know if that fee was a one time fee or does it renew itself using your card once a year or something?

Are all apps a time time fee when you purchase it?

AndroidTapp.com Rating

(4.4 out of 5)

Should you Download TV Shows Stream? Yes! Enjoy tons of TV shows on your phone, plus there's no monthly fees!

Google Wallet

Not sure if Google Wallet will be it, but this is where payments is going. Have all your credit cards on your phone, receive local coupons to your phone. I think live this summer, starting with Citibank MasterCard

I could use some help here. I have a rooted Droid X. I am not sure exactly what to do with Rom Manager. I googled it, followed instructions and have created a backup to restore to. No problem, but I am not sure about Rom Management. I understand I can do some cool things with Download Rom, however I am not sure what "Rom" is or what it can do for me. So I tapped it and it takes me to the Download Rom options and I see I can organize them by dates, downloads and ratings. The forum I was reading suggested I do a little research before I pick one. This is where I am lost. I have spent about 30 minutes searching the net what these can do and which one I should go with but I still am not sure.

If I organize them by downloads the top 5 are, Google Apps, Extras, DrewGaren, GummyJAR, and MrBobrowitz. Can someone give me the dummy explanation here to what these do, give me a recommendation. I am lost.

TIA,

Sushi

Edit...I just read you can download more than one Roms. So I downloaded Extras. Only problem now is I have no idea where it is, what do I do from here. I don't have a clue right now what to do after you download it?

1) Download rom from internet. A good place to look is here.2) Save to phone

3) Use Rom Manager to flash new rom to phone.

I use Liberty and love it.

Anyone else noticing a lot of battery drain with the new google maps update?
I did until I turned off Latitude.
what is latitude and how do i turn it off? my battery has been really bad the past few days
Bump for the answer to this. My battery has sucked this week, guess I'm not alone. I see latitude and maps on my phone but i dont know how to turn off. In applications I hit stop on maps but then it just restarted.

AFAIK, go into Maps, then hit menu. If you see Latitude you're signed in, if you see Join Latitude you're not. If you're signed in, click Latitude, hit menu, then settings, then at the bottom sign out.

My emails quit syncing two days ago and I'm about to start crying. I can't seem to fix it and no amount of rebooting or closing applications seems to help.

this happened to me when I used juice defender, which is why I reinstalled it. Got rid of juice defender, deleted my email account and re-entered the info and no more problems.

Well, I am not sure if I did it exactly that way. I tried downloading it, but I couldn't get it to open. So I deleted it and after looking around on the net, I found out there was a Liberty toolbox app and I got it from there. I really wasn't sure about it so I read some info about it on the net then felt comfortable it. I tried to make some changes, like my battery icon and other things but for some reason it doesn't take. I changed my logo on when you reboot your phone so I know some of it works but I am not sure how to trouble shoot it. If anyone can help me troubleshoot, any suggestions would be appreciated.

Gingerbread keyboard can be downloaded for free. Best keyboard yet. Very fast on the evo and much easier to type on.
