Andy D's mock draft central - Last one for 2018! Now with 100% more second round! (1 Viewer)

If Denzel Ward is available at 14 I think GB jumps at that. I don't see him going from top 10 potential to 22. But anything can happen this draft!

I cant see any scenario where Buffalo draft Lamar Jackson, especially trading up for him. They want to get away the mobile qb and get back to the more traditional offense.

I really don't see them taking Lamar, as in the scenario, instead of 1 of the 2 Josh's.

That being said, a lot of thinking outside the box here.
Maybe. I think the two Joshes and a Jackson are just about interchangeable in mock drafts these days.

I also think a traditional style QB will be made ground chuck behind that line.

As always, Andy D, entertaining! Fun to see what other people come up with. I think you're right with a lot of these trades. I usually don't watch the draft until a few spots before GB picks, but I just may this year because I think it's going to be absolutely crazy

The rumor mill is churning out that they like Jackson's size. Similar to the Kevin King selection last year.

Last one of the year. Trying to cut through the B.S., read the tea leaves, and have a little fun with trades.

1.1 - Browns - Sam Darnold

I call B.S. on the Josh Allen talk.

1.2 - Cardinals - Baker Mayfield

I DO believe they love him and after missing out on a QB last year, they don't make the same mistake.

1.3 - Jets- Josh ???

They TRIED to get the #1 but now are left wondering what happened. They pick one of the Joshes in a panic but I don't know which one.

1.4 - Browns - Bradley Chubb

Flip a coin with Chubb/Barkley. Either improves the squad.

1.5 - Denver - Saquon Barkley

The idea of drafting the remaining Josh makes Elway fear for his job, so he picks the draft's best player.

1.6 - Buffalo - Lamar Jackson

Fearing getting leapfrogged by a Miami or New England, they get to the 6th spot - which doesn't cost them their other 1st.

1.7 - Bucs - Quenton Nelson

Bucs allowed too many sacks last year.

1.8 - Bears - Tremaine Edmunds

Edmunds is a better fit for the 3-4 than Roquan.

1.9 - 49ers - Harold Landry

For all they've invested into the d-line they still struggle to get to the QB.

1.10 - Oakland - Roquan Smith

Patriots consider moving up to here to get the last QB but not finding a partner, the Raiders fill their biggest need with one of the draft's best players.

More to come...

1.11 - Dolphins - Courtland Sutton

Their depth chart is Stills, White...and garbage. Sutton has been draftnitpicked to death - and it's gotten lost that he's good.

1.12 - Colts - Derwin James

The switch to 4-3 presents personnel problems, but James allows them to move him and others around for differing scheme situations.

1.13 - Redskins - Vita Vea

A popular pick I agree with although I still suspect Guice is the guy.

1.14 - Packers - Minkah Fitzpatrick

The Pack needs a lot of help at all levels of defense.

1.15 - Giants - Connor Williams

They're trying to trade the bust Flowers for a bag of chips. They know this spot is terrible.

1.16 - Patriots (from Ravens) - Josh ???

Pats can get this spot without giving up the other 1st. The last remaining QB is worth the try here. Josh/Josh/Lamar

1.17 - Chargers - Da'Ron Payne

Building up a dominant front four.

1.18 - Seahawks - Josh Jackson

Need to replenish the storehouse in the d-backfield. Jackson fits their profile.

1.19 - Cowboys - DJ Moore

They don't HAVE to replace Dez here...but they should.

1.20 - Lions - Marcus Davenport

Ansah is only on a franchise tender.

1.21 - Bengals - Frank Ragnow

A surprise 1st round pick but it's been reported in a lot of places that he's the #1 center and could go HIGHER than this.

1.22 - Bills - Denzel Ward

Size questions push him down a bit but Bills get a bit of a steal here as Saints did with Lattimore.

1.23 - Ravens - Hayden Hurst

They've stocked the WR bin but there's nothing in the TE room. It's said they "covet" this guy.

1.24 - Panthers - Derrius Guice

McCaffrey can't be a lead back and this is the 1/2 punch the Panthers like to employ.

1.25 - Titans - Leighton Vander Esch

They have a little talent at the spot but this should be the upgrade they've been searching for.

1.26 - Falcons - Maurice Hurst

They HAVE to improve their interior line play. Hurst (or Taven Bryan?) are the attacking type they like.

1.27 - Saints - Josh Sweat

Sweat is rising to where he once was and Saints desperately need a bookend to make their defense really go.

1.28 - Steelers - Justin Reid

They have been all over this guy throughout the process.

1.29 - Jaguars - Calvin Ridley

Losing Robinson and Hurns thinned out the depth chart and the addition of Moncrief didn't change that.

1.30 - Vikings - Mike McGlinchey

Rick Spielman loves Golden Domers.

1.31 - Patriots - Jaire Alexander

Who knows? He might even play him!

1.32 - Eagles - Kolton Miller

Will more than likely trade out of this pick. But Peters can't play forever.

First off, thanks for the mock. They're tough as hell this year. I think you might have 4-6 picks right. Not sure who will be picking at those numbers come draft day, but:

  • 1 - Darnold
  • 4 - Chubb
  • 13 - Vea
  • 19 - Moore
  • 25 - LVE
  • 28 - Reid
Those all sound right to me. I could see all of these picks happening, but I think that the trades up front and 5 QBs going early will shake things up a lot.

I think the Bills have more draft capital than the Cardinals and would be able to offer more if they want to trade up to get their guy.

Also, Bears don't really run a 3-4 defense. If anything Fangio runs more 4-3 looks, but it is kind of a 4-3 / 3-4 hybrid. Smith or Edmunds would both fit fine, just a matter of which player do you like more.

You think the Jets traded up to #3 a month ago and now panic if Darnold and Mayfield are off the board?  They take Rosen and we're all happy about it. Or they take Allen and we're not all happy about it. Ha. Either way, they knew the scenarios and what they were doing when they traded up. Personally I would be thrilled if Rosen is still there at 3 although I know a lot of people are hoping it's Mayfield.

I have a hard time seeing the Colts trading down if Quenton Nelson is available. It is a huge need, he is a consensus top 5 pick, and they need to protect Luck. Nelson at #6 vs say, McGlinchey at #12... take Nelson.

They could target an offensive lineman at the top of the 2nd but their may be a run on them in the back end of the 1st. I'm thinking Nelson, trade back into the end of the 1st for a CB, and with their remaining two picks get their best available RB and BPA on defense or even another guy on the OL.

Report: Bills unlikely to trade up to No. 2

The Giants might trade down from No. 2, but if they do, it’s unlikely Dave Gettleman’s buddy, Brandon Beane, will be the one moving up.

The Bills aren’t expected to use their picks to climb to the second spot, Ian Rapoport of NFL Media reports. Instead, the Bills will pull the trigger on trading up only if a quarterback they like slips to No. 5 or No. 6, he adds.

Buffalo has plenty of ammunition to make a move, with two first-round choices, two second-round choices and two third-round choices.

The Jets’ trade up to the third spot has added intrigue to the No. 2 choice and what the Giants might do, and Beane and Gettleman worked together in Carolina.

But the Bills General Manager recently denied a report that the Giants and Bills have the framework in place for a trade.

“I don’t get into that, but that’s not true,” Beane told One Bills Live, via Ryan Talbot of Yahoo. “I’m going to leave it at that.”

Yeah.  On the same note, it is really hard to see Rosen falling out of the top 10 while Jackson makes it.  Appreciate the good work from Andy as always, but man the QBs are weird here.

I assumed that Rosen would be the Josh taken by the Jets. I think Jackson would be better for the Bills than Allen.

A little,  yes. But teams draft bigger guys to be physical at the line.
True.  Of course, the Pack draft guys like that, and then run a scheme where the DB plays 15 yards off the line on a 3rd and 5 while blitzing.  ?

Will be interesting to see how they draft under the new regime.

My hunch is the Giants trade down if they want a player other than a QB.

Too many QB needy teams at the top of the draft with enough draft picks to get a deal done.  I don’t think NFL GMs ever expect to back at the top of the draft two years in a row.

Giants are not going to say no to Barkley or Chubb plus some extra picks this year and next.

Then their only option is a trade with Denver, which makes some sense I guess?

One amendment to yesterday's first round - swap out Maurice Hurst for Taven Bryan. Unfortunately, Hurst's medical red flag is BRIGHT red.

Looks like work is slow again today. I'll try to spit out a 2nd round.

Rosen, and it wouldn't be a "panic" - it's who I think they've wanted all along.

No, they want Mayfield but Rosen will do. Don't think too hard about the quotes I wrote. They were pretty stream of consciousness.

The biggest wildcard in the draft is Josh Allen. Do teams really think he's an NFL quarterback? Or were they scheming to get their opposition to draft him?

Is it just me or do you have the Bronco's taking both Saquon Barkley (@ 1.05) and Ronald Jones Jr. (in the 2nd)?

2.33 - Browns - Isaiah Oliver

2.34 - Giants - Mason Rudolph

2.35 - Browns- Tyrell Crosby

2.36 - Colts - Rashaan Evans

2.37 - Colts - Sony Michel

2.38 - Bucs - Nick Chubb

2.39 - Bears - Isaiah Wynn

2.40 - Broncos - Will Hernandez

2.41 - Raiders - Orlando Brown

2.42 - Dolphins - Dallas Goedert

2.43 - Patriots - Sam Hubbard

2.44 - Redskins - Rashad Penny

2.45 - Packers - Lorenzo Carter

2.46 - Bengals - Terrell Edmunds

2.47 - Giants (from AZ in this mock) - Kerryon Johnson

2.48 - Chargers - Jessie Bates

2.49 - Colts - Ogbonnia Okoronkwo

2.50 - Cowboys - Darius Leonard

2.51 - Lions - Tim Settle

2.52 - Ravens - James Daniels

2.53 - Colts - (from Bills in this draft) - James Washington

2.54 - Chiefs - Billy Price

2.55 - Panthers - Chukwuma Okorafor

2.56 - Bills - Austin Corbett

2.57 - Titans - Uchenna Nwosu

2.58 - Falcons - Braden Smith

2.59 - 49ers - Dante Pettis

2.60 - Steelers - Malik Jefferson

2.61 - Jaguars - Kyle Lauletta

2.63 - Ravens (from NE in this mock)  - Ronald Jones JR

2.64 - Browns - Christian Kirk

I don’t buy that the Jets don’t really have a preference at QB.  They are sitting at the table with most of their chips already in the pot.  I think they will push a little more if it means they get the guy they want.

Wait 100% more of 0 is still 0.  So this is infinity % more 2nd round.  Well done that is a major upgrade!

Fantasy owners would be drooling over Chubb with Nelson in the first, Jensen in free agency, and Marpet moving back to RG for Tampa. Drooling. ?
