Randy Moss to the Lions?
No deal is in place. Do not get too excited. This deal has only been discussed between the Lions and Oakland Raiders but it is one that could change the Lions significantly before draft day. Ready?
The two teams have had talks about bringing wide receiver Randy Moss to the Lions in exchange for back up quarterback Josh McCown, soon to be discarded wide receiver Mike Williams and a fifth-round draft pick.
The Raiders are tired of Moss and his disruptive behavior and they are interested in McCown competing for a starting job. You noticed that neither McCown or Williams were at the voluntary workouts which is an indication neither will be with the team for the 2007 season.
Moss is a big play receiver who has not made many big plays because he has spent much of his time sulking. So why would it be any different here? The Lions are pretty certain that Moss not only would be motivated to play twice a year against his old team the Minnesota Vikings, but that he also holds grudges against the Chicago Bears and Green Bay Packers,
The Lions are fed up with Williams. He wants to play tight end now but lacks the guts to block linemen. So they do not see a need for him. They also view Williams as a player who feels he is entitled to things that he has not earned.
Moss is a problem. But at least he can play.
