Anquan Boldin, WR, Baltimore Ravens (1 Viewer)

With a very balanced offense and a glut of options, I expect Bolding to be a fine WR2 with some WR1 weeks mixed in. I'm not counting on the glory days of old when the offense was nearly 70-30 (exageration, but...) in favor of the long ball.

edit to add projections:

82-1050-6

It's easy to say top ten...But then you have to look at the numbers. He was the number 18 WR last year. When you look at the list of 17 guys ahead of him, and then you look at the guys behind him that are younger and bound to improve (Calvin Johnson, Percy Harvin, Jennings, Sims-Walker)....it's kind of hard to justify Boldin being top ten.

At this point, I think Boldin is a very average number 1 WR, and a GREAT number 2.
Are you talking fantasy or real life?
Fantasy.In real-life I think he's a perfect fit for the Ravens.

 not too dissimilar from Hines Ward in Pittsburgh. If I were a Ravens fan I'd love the fit, as a Boldin owner I've tried to sell but nobody is interested. He makes a great 3 or 4, but I honestly don't see top 20 stats.I'll speculate 64/880/7

In PPR Hines Ward is the most underrated WR. He was #13 WR in my league and at his place in the draft was a steal. (ADP = #25 WR)

Last year, Baltimore was 25th in pass attempts and 7th in rush attempts. They have added both Boldin and Stallworth to bolster their WR stable and they brought in some competition at TE for Heap. It would seem as though they want to pass the ball a little more as Flacco is entering year 3 and looks pretty good. Derrick Mason has been the leading WR here for awhile but that is all about to change this year. I don't thin Boldin will be asked to catch more balls than Mason was because he actually has to compete with Mason and Stallworth to some degree. Rice catches a lot of balls and it's not like Baltimore paid a 1st for Boldin, they got him on the cheap it seemed. Plus Boldin can only start so many games, he misses time.

Mason caught 73 balls last year and the next WR caught 34, again that's going to change but you cannot project Boldin for 90+ balls, I don't see that happening plus Baltimore has a very good defense and they will not be throwing the ball a ton when they have double digit leads in the 3rd and 4th quarter.

Boldin: 80/1100/6Td

I don't see a ton of Tds for him but he should be haul in 5 balls for about 80 yds most weeks. Solid WR2 in most 12 team leagues.

I am always cautious of WRs who switch teams and rarely pick them.Boldin had some nice numbers in Arizona and I do think he is legit, but I am only thinking he will go this route:75/1000/6
Moss went for 23 TD's his 1st year in NE after scoring only 3 TD's in Oakland the year before. Now I am not saying Boldin is getting 23 TD's that would be nuts but I think he is going to surprise a lot of people.I am expecting Baltimore to have an uptick in the passing game this year. The only problem I see is McGahee being a TD vulture. If Ray Rice was the primary back inside the 10 yard line then I would think Boldin would be used more in the red zone. The biggest red flag for me is Boldin's health. He seems to always get hurt. That is what I think determines his value not the team he is with.Flacco is a huge upgrade over Leinart. Also Arizona will probably run the ball now more then they have ever done while Baltimore will be passing more then before.I see Boldin going for 90/1200/10 if he can play healthy the entire year. Remember in 2008 he scored 11 TD's in 12 games and was the #1 PPG WR that year. That was only 2 years ago and injuries are what always seem to limit him.

Whatever happened to the rule of "beware of WRs switching teams"?
I think that went out the window when Randy Moss scored 23 TD's in NE his 1st year there. That right there won me about 6 titles because I got Moss in the 4th round in 8 straight drafts.

Anquoin Boldin isn't Randy Moss;Joe Flacco isn't To Brady; The wide receiver depth isn't the same (Mason is better than Gaffney and Stallworth but the shceme fit their talents); The Ravens have a much better running game which they will utilize.Boldin won't win any Fantasy titles like Moss did with his Stats but he should be a nice piece of the puzzle.

I'm not saying they're the same player and I agree Hines is undervalued. But in the past 6 years, Ward had been top 12 zero times, top 20 three times. Top 30 every year. He did have a career year in 2003. Do you see Boldin putting up the same stats as Hines did last year? Do you disagree that they're similar in many regards?
