Most likely he'll keep an IR slot warm, but possibly a #4/5 type but more probably a training camp cut.

Love this move for real football (he now has zero value in fantasy)...the Pats had absolutely nothing at WR after Welker and Branch last year...while Gonzalez needs to prove he can stay healthy if he does he will provide another reliable pair of hands who after playing with Manning should be able to fit in seamlessly with Brady...with the possible exception of Lloyd the Pats need to use their money on D (or possibly extending Gronk and/or Hernandez early)...that's where they need the most help...adding a veteran like Gonzalez for low-money could pay some nice dividends this year...add in Lloyd as well and the WR unit has the potential to be vastly improved over the 2011 unit...this could also signal the Pats are planning to use their early picks elsewhere but who knows with them...

But it doesn't matter how fast he is, because he can get hurt putting on his pads.

With I believe theyre current WR roster being: Welker, Lloyd, Branch (expected to be resigned), Ocho, Edelman, Gonzalez, Slater, (maybe someone else, cant remember). I think its tough to tell at this point who if anyone wont at least play into the season. If someone were to be cut id imagine it to be Gonzalez everyone else at least has a report (or is brandon lloyd, lol).

Who knows, they might even poke Dallas Clark, need a 3rd TE and it wouldnt hurt to have a vet that we know can play the field.
