Any chance Austin Collie is a go in week 10? (1 Viewer)

I don't mean to sound insensitive with this question, but does anybody know if Austin Collie will be able to play in week 10? All the reports I have heard today sound pretty positive.

What a differance a day makes. Last night my only hope was that Collie would be able to walk after that vicious hit. Today I am hoping that he can play football (not that it really matters) next week... I hope he takes all the time he needs and does not rush back and risk his health

I'd say zero chance. Even if he continues to pass all the tests, I'd bet on enough of a cautious approach to at least make him take one week off.

I understand the insensitive aspect

It's against the "politics" of the NFL with them spending so much time and money to educate everyone and even more on research, not to mention the rule change. Even if somehow he could, they just can't play him. They could but....

No. Guys with very slight concussions struggle to make the first week after a concussion. Collie's was severe.
Actually, the concussion was not as severe as first believed.Coach Caldwell: "Symptoms are subsiding"

I'm not saying that I think he'll play this week, but if he passes his tests........why wouldn't he?
Thanks - That's all news to me. I hadn't found any updates yet beyond "he had a concussion". That said, I'm definitely banking on him not starting. Obviously, there's a big difference between "symptoms subsiding" and passing all tests in time to be game ready and cleared. Still, good to hear that it's going well. I'm hoping to have him back for week 11 realistically.

It's almost been universal this year with concussions. Sit out one week, come back the next. I wouldn't bank on him playing.

Someone explain to me, didn't Roy Williams take a head shot? He looked like he was out for a minute and yet they let him go back in the game shortly after.

Did I miss something?

He's not officially listed with a concussion, even though the defender (Nick Collins) was fined $50K for an illegal hit.

Although I need Collie bad this week, or it's ocho stinko  . With that said, for long term I think it's better he doesn't play this week, but limited Pratice instead. That way Tammy will solidify as a threat, the focus in the middle by other teams defense going forward. And collie becomes that sneaky player that's always open, just like welker(with moss). As bouns, he could let his thumb surgery fully heal. IMO.

Its called acting.But no...they won't play Collie.

Not a good sign that he was ruled out so early in the week. It will be interesting to see when he actually does come back. The team spoke so optimistically about his status, but ruling him out on Tuesday probably means his concussion was fairly severe.

Actually, I think it was more for Collie's benefit than anything else. The local Utah station had a regular interview with some local expert (didn't catch name), who's talked with Collie's father. Collie's dad said Austin still had a pretty sizeable headache, but was fully expecting to go this weekend. The Colts probably shut him down early more to protect him from himself.

:yucky:

Can Collie, if he returns after this week be counted on to be an impact player the remainder of the season?
I'm keeping him on my bench just in case he plays against the Cowboys and/or Jaguars in weeks 13 & 15.Some guys never recover from major hits, but other guys don't miss a beat. Collie could be in a great situation to get some of Dallas Clark's targets if he can just get rid of the headaches.

Thanks for your response. CJ's one catch performance hurt me with Austin/Witten putting the nail in the coffin last week. With Collie getting hurt I've gone from yellow to red alert. Fortunately there are still some decent WRs out there. Blair White, Driver (3 weeks off can he rebound?), Burleson, and that Raider dude, Floyd?I want to hold on to Collie but is he worth the wait? Are expectations too high (WR2), even if he comes back healthy?
